Today, I had a very special encounter at sunrise: I managed to spot and photograph a cross fox. They are a melanistic color variation of the red fox. It’s a very, very rare sight. A few years ago, a study in Scandinavia examined 3,000 red foxes, and only 0.3% of them had this melanistic variation. In recent years, I’ve seen a few of them around Abisko.
