Vector Optics Continental 4-24x56 34mm Tactical FFP Review As an avid hunter and long-range shooting enthusiast, I’ve had the opportunity to test the Vector Optics Continental 4-24x56 34mm Tactical FFP scope over several months in various conditions. Here’s my detailed and honest take on this optic, including its strengths and weaknesses. Pros: Optical Clarity: The glass is surprisingly clear for the price range. Minimal distortion at higher magnifications, and the light transmission is excellent, even in low-light conditions. First Focal Plane (FFP): The reticle scales perfectly with magnification, which is a huge advantage for long-range shooting and holdovers. Build Quality: Feels solid and durable. The 34mm tube adds rigidity, and the turrets are tactile with positive clicks. Illuminated Reticle: The illumination is bright enough for daytime use and has multiple brightness settings. The red illumination is crisp and doesn’t bleed. Versatility: The 4-24x magnification range is perfect for both close-range and long-range shooting. The 56mm objective lens gathers plenty of light. Cons: Weight: At over 1kg, it’s on the heavier side. Not ideal if you’re looking for a lightweight setup. Parallax Adjustment: The side parallax wheel is a bit stiff and could be smoother. It’s usable but not as refined as higher-end scopes. Eye Relief: While decent, it’s not the most forgiving. You need to position your eye precisely, especially at higher magnifications. Price: It’s not cheap, and while it offers good value, it’s still a significant investment for casual shooters. Verdict: The Vector Optics Continental 4-24x56 is a solid choice for hunters and tactical shooters who need a versatile, high-quality scope. It’s not perfect, but the FFP reticle, excellent glass, and robust build make it a strong contender in its class. If you can handle the weight and don’t mind the price, it’s worth considering. #Optics #TacticalScope #vector #FFP #VectorOptics #RifleScope #HuntingScope

Eskimos started using sunglasses more than a thousand years ago! Incredibly, but it’s a fact. We have already written recently that Inuit (Eskimos) invented some items that are now used by all of humanity. As for example, a waterproof fabric, an anorak jacket and a kayak boat. But there is something even more incredible! Everyone knows that on a sunny day, the bright sun makes your eyes blind. To hunt in bright, blinding light is simply impossible. Most of us use sunglasses in the south and we perceive them exclusively as an accessory for hot countries. But that's because only few of us have been to the north. And we can't even imagine how the sunlight intensifies after reflecting off the white snow. Long before us, Eskimos, according to one version, invented the first sunglasses. Of course, they did not have darkened glass… But they carved it out of bone or wood the likeness of modern glasses with thin slits for the eyes, capable of softening and limiting excessive light. Such glasses were necessary in the harsh northern latitudes beyond the Arctic Circle, where intense sunlight reflected from snow and ice often causes a temporary condition called "snow blindness." The oldest sunglasses made of whalebone were discovered on the Canadian island of Baffin, they date back to the XII century. But some sources claim that the Eskimos had sunglasses 4,000 years ago! Many of these glasses have been preserved to this day in museums in Canada and Alaska, Far East and North of Russia. Amundsen, the renowned explorer of the north, wrote about this and other amazing inventions of the Eskimos. He openly said that he had learned a lot from the Eskimos. From building snow huts to cutting clothes and riding dogs. https://m.uh.app/news/4a9cc4f0-cdfe-11ef-9557-bbeb094fa96e

Two hunters. Photo of 1911 Petersburg. Russian poet and writer Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin and Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin, a brilliant Russian opera singer. Kuprin's literary legacy, dedicated to the theme of hunting, is a precious part of the Russian hunting classics. Hunting was one of Alexander Kupruns hobbies. Kuprin hunted a lot and often, but he was not a professional hunter at all. When experienced hunters, attracted in particular by his novel “Hunting Grouse”, met him on a hunt they were somewhat disappointed, calling him a simple amateur. Kuprin was not interested in hunting itself, but in the sensations during hunting, the flight of birds, the running of animals, and the experiences of hunters. As a real writer, he went country side not for hunt itself but for an inspiration. Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin was also not a professional hunter, but he was an incredibly enthusiastic hunter. Hunting was both a recreation and a pleasure for the artist. When hunting, he forgot about everything in the world and shot with gusto, so it was sometimes unsafe to be near him. This is evidenced by the memories of Chaliapin's friends who shared this noble passion with him. Chaliapin had a really wonderful Belgian rifle made to order at the Liege Firearms manufactory. This double-barreled shotgun of the twentieth caliber was intended for hunting small game and poultry. The bed is made of walnut wood and decorated with fine mesh. Anson and Delay locks with beautiful floral ornaments. The name of the manufacturer, its location, the date of the factory's foundation and information about the prize received at the exhibition in Paris in 1900 are marked on the inter-barrel bar. It is currently on display at the Chaliapin Memorial Estate on Novinsky Boulevard.

In recent years, Polish hunters have had many reasons to be proud. The number of wild boar is growing in Poland from year to year, and the number of medal trophies is multiplying, which puts Polish wild-boar hunting in a leading position in Europe. Foreigners like to come to Poland to hunt wild boars, as about 300,000 of these animals are harvested in the local lands every year. In Poland, more than 2,500 hunting clubs rent more than 5,000 hunting grounds. According to Polish law, the payment of compensation to farmers for damage caused by wild boars is the responsibility of hunting clubs that lease these lands. In Poland is prohibited from organizing corral hunting in areas whose territory is surrounded by a fence. It is possible to drive an animal only in natural conditions. The video shows that such a hunt is not the easiest. And here a lot depends on the skills of the hunter. An important part of the income of Polish hunting clubs, which operate as small businesses, are funds from tourism. Every year, Polish clubs sell hunting tours worth about 20 million euros. However, the proceeds from the harvested animals do not compensate for the losses in the farmers' fields. Even the income from the extraction of 300,000 wild boars is not enough to cover the damage paid to farmers. There is a single structure in Poland that unites hunters — the Polish Hunting Union, which has existed for more than 90 years. This allows, on the one hand, the authorities of the Polish Hunting Union to effectively monitor the ethics and legality of hunters' activities and the regulation of the game population within individual hunting farms.

Yukon Photon RT 6x50
(Юкон Фотон RT)

Yukon Photon RT 6x50

Honest Review of the Merkel Model 96K Drilling 7.65 + 2 x 12/76 with Collimator Scope As an avid hunter with years of experience, I recently had the opportunity to test the Merkel Model 96K Drilling in the 7.65 + 2 x 12/76 configuration, which comes with a collimator scope. This is a unique and versatile firearm, and after several hunting trips, I’m ready to share my thoughts on its performance, design, and practicality. Pros: Versatility: The Merkel 96K Drilling is a true multi-purpose firearm. The combination of a 7.65mm rifle barrel and two 12/76 shotgun barrels makes it ideal for a variety of hunting scenarios. Whether you’re stalking deer or flushing out birds, this gun has you covered. Build Quality: Merkel is known for its craftsmanship, and the 96K is no exception. The walnut stock is beautifully finished, and the metalwork is precise and durable. It feels solid in your hands, and the attention to detail is evident. Accuracy: The rifle barrel is incredibly accurate, even at longer ranges. I consistently hit targets at 150-200 meters with minimal adjustment. The shotgun barrels also perform well, delivering tight patterns and reliable performance. Ergonomics: The gun is well-balanced and comfortable to carry, even during long hunts. The stock design fits naturally, and the weight distribution makes it easy to shoulder and aim quickly. Reloading Mechanism: The break-action design is smooth and reliable. Switching between barrels is intuitive, and the ejectors work flawlessly, making reloading quick and efficient. Cons: Weight: While the weight contributes to stability, it can be a bit cumbersome during extended hunts, especially if you’re covering a lot of ground. This isn’t a dealbreaker, but it’s something to consider if you prefer lighter firearms. Price: The Merkel 96K is a premium firearm, and the price reflects that. It’s a significant investment, and while the quality justifies the cost, it may not be accessible to all hunters. Limited Ammo Capacity: With only three barrels (one rifle and two shotgun), you’re limited in terms of ammo capacity. This isn’t an issue for most hunting situations, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re used to higher-capacity firearms. Recoil: The 12/76 shotgun barrels produce noticeable recoil, especially with heavier loads. It’s manageable, but it might take some getting used to if you’re not accustomed to larger calibers. Maintenance: The intricate design requires regular maintenance to keep it in top condition. Cleaning all three barrels can be time-consuming, and neglecting maintenance can lead to performance issues. The Merkel Model 96K Drilling 7.65 + 2 x 12/76 is a masterpiece of engineering and a joy to use in the field. If you’re looking for a high-end, multi-purpose firearm that can handle a variety of game, the Merkel 96K is worth every penny. Review of Benelli 828U 12 Gauge Shotgun

As an avid hunter and firearms enthusiast, I recently had the chance to put the Benelli 828U 12 gauge shotgun through its paces.

Review of Benelli 828U 12 Gauge Shotgun As an avid hunter and firearms enthusiast, I recently had the chance to put the Benelli 828U 12 gauge shotgun through its paces. After spending several weeks in the field and at the range, I have gathered my thoughts to provide an honest and detailed review of this unique shotgun. Pros: Innovative Design: One of the first things that struck me about the Benelli 828U is its sleek and modern design. The shotgun features a distinctive over-and-under configuration but with a twist. Its unique steel locking system and the progressive length of pull create a balance that is comfortable while maintaining rigidity. Weight Distribution: The weight distribution of the 828U is superb. It feels well-balanced in the hands, which contributes to a more controlled shooting experience. This is something I value immensely, especially after a long day in the field. Recoil Management: The 828U comes with a patented Progressive Comfort system, which significantly reduces felt recoil. This feature is especially beneficial during extended shooting sessions and helps improve accuracy by allowing for quicker follow-up shots. Customization Options: The adjustable drop and cast options allow for a custom fit that can accommodate various shooters. The shim system makes it easy to adjust the shotgun to suit your personal preferences, ensuring that you feel comfortable shouldering the weapon. Quality Construction: The materials used in the Benelli 828U exude quality. The wood is beautifully finished, and the metal components feel sturdy and durable, earning the confidence of any serious hunter. Cons: Price Point: One drawback of the Benelli 828U is its price. While it offers high-quality performance, it comes with a premium price tag that might be out of reach for some hunters. This could limit its accessibility to a broader audience. Weight: While the weight distribution is good, the overall weight of the shotgun can feel a bit heavy after long hours of hunting. Although this is common with over-and-under shotguns, lighter options might be preferable for those who prioritize mobility. Magazines: The 828U does not have a magazine, which may not be suitable for all hunters. Those used to semi-automatics might find it less convenient for certain types of hunting where multiple follow-up shots are necessary. Learning Curve: The unique features and adjustments may require some time for novice shooters to become accustomed to. Beginners may find it challenging at first, although this improves with practice. In summary, the Benelli 828U 12 gauge shotgun stands out for its innovative design, recoil management, and quality construction. It is a reliable choice for those who can afford it and are looking for a premium over-and-under option. While it does have a few drawbacks, they are minor in the grand scheme of its performance and functionality. Overall, I would recommend the Benelli 828U #Benelli #828U #12Gauge #ShotgunReview

Review of Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 Scope As an avid hunter with years of experience, I was eager to try out the Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 scope on my recent hunting trip. Having heard a mix of reviews regarding this scope, I approached it with cautious optimism. Here are my thoughts after using it in the field. Build Quality and Design: The first thing that struck me about the Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 was its robust construction. The scope feels solid in hand, and the matte black finish not only looks sleek but also helps reduce glare, which is essential when hunting. It easily fits onto my rifle, and the mounting process was straightforward. The eyepiece provides a comfortable and clear sight picture, and the low-light performance is impressive for dawn and dusk hunting. Optical Clarity: One of the standout features of this scope is its optics. The clarity of the lenses is phenomenal, with bright, vivid images. At 1x magnification, it offers a wide field of view, making it easy to track moving targets. When zoomed in to 4x, the detail is sharp and precise, which is crucial for making accurate shots at distance. Parallax is not an issue at this range, which adds to the reliability of the sight alignment. Reticle and Adjustments: The reticle design is also worth noting. The illuminated option is handy in low-light conditions, allowing for quick target acquisition. However, I found that the brightness level adjustments could be more intuitive. In some cases, I had to fiddle with the settings to achieve the preferred brightness, which can be frustrating when time is of the essence. Performance in the Field: During my hunt in varying terrains, the Japan Optics Superb scope performed well. Whether I was in thick woods or open fields, the scope's versatility was apparent. I particularly appreciated the eye relief, which provided comfort during prolonged use. However, there were moments when I felt that the overall weight of the scope could be a downside, especially during long treks. Durability and Weather Resistance: As for durability, this scope is built to withstand challenging conditions. I encountered some rain and humidity during my trip, and the scope held up admirably without fogging or any water ingress. It seems to be well-sealed, which is a significant plus for any hunter. Final Thoughts: In conclusion, the Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 scope offers an excellent range of features for its price point. While it has minor drawbacks, such as the adjustment controls and weight, the benefits outweigh them. The optical clarity, build quality, and performance make it a solid choice for anyone looking for a versatile scope that performs well in various hunting conditions. Pros: Exceptional optical clarity and brightness. Solid and durable construction. Great low-light performance. Comfortable eye relief. Cons: Adjustment controls could be more user-friendly. Slightly heavier than some competitors. #JapanOptics #Superb #1-4x2

Beretta BRX1 Rifle in .30-06 Review As an avid hunter, I recently had the opportunity to take the Beretta BRX1 rifle in .30-06 out for a deer hunt, and I wanted to share my experiences with fellow enthusiasts. After using this rifle on a challenging hunt, I have compiled a list of pros and cons based on my performance with the weapon. Pros: Versatility for All Shooters: One of the standout features of the BRX1 is its straight-pull bolt action, which accommodates both right-handed and left-handed shooters. This thoughtful design really impressed me, as it allowed for quick follow-up shots, especially when a deer appears unexpectedly. I felt comfortable using the rifle regardless of my shooting stance. Accuracy: The .30-06 caliber is renowned for its effectiveness in deer hunting, and the Beretta BRX1 lived up to those expectations. The rifle’s cold hammer-forged barrel ensured excellent consistency and precision in shot placement. During my hunt, I was able to make clean shots at distances exceeding 200 yards, thanks to the rifle’s stability. Lightweight and Balanced: The BRX1 is surprisingly lightweight, which made a significant difference during my long treks through the woods. Its balance made it easy to carry without sacrificing performance. I could hike for hours without feeling weighed down, which is always a plus in a hunting scenario. Factory Picatinny Rail: The factory-installed Picatinny rail was another feature I found beneficial. It allowed me to quickly attach my scope, and I appreciated that I didn't have to worry about aftermarket mounts. The rail's design ensured my optic was securely fastened and perfectly aligned. Cons: Initial Learning Curve: While I enjoyed the straight-pull mechanism, I did encounter a small learning curve at first. Transitioning from a conventional bolt action took a bit of practice, but once I got the hang of it, the rifle’s rapid-fire capability was a huge advantage. New users might need to dedicate some time to become familiar with this feature. Recoil Management: The .30-06 caliber is not the softest shooting round available, and I found the recoil to be a bit more significant than anticipated, especially after a long day of shooting. I recommend investing in a quality recoil pad or a muzzle brake to help manage the felt recoil. Price Point: While the BRX1 is a high-quality rifle, its price may be a barrier for some hunters. It is a significant investment, so individuals should weigh their options and consider if it fits their budget before making a purchase. In conclusion, the Beretta BRX1 in .30-06 is a solid choice for deer hunting, offering versatility, accuracy, and lightweight handling. While there are a few drawbacks, particularly for those new to straight-pull actions or sensitive to recoil, the pros outweigh the cons if you are looking for a dependable rifle. I look forward to using it more in the upcoming seasons! #BerettaBRX1 -06 #HuntingRifle #Deer

Honest Review of the ATN HD MARS 4.5-18 Thermal Scope from a Hunter's Perspective

As an avid hunter who has used the ATN HD MARS 4.5-18 thermal scope on multiple hunts

Honest Review of the ATN HD MARS 4.5-18 Thermal Scope from a Hunter's Perspective As an avid hunter who has used the ATN HD MARS 4.5-18 thermal scope on multiple hunts, including deer, I can confidently say that this optic is a game-changer in many ways, but it’s not without its flaws. Here’s my detailed take on this thermal scope, based on real-world experience in the field. Pros: Exceptional Image Quality: The HD MARS 4.5-18 delivers crisp, clear thermal imaging, even in complete darkness or dense fog. The 1280x720 resolution is a standout feature, allowing me to spot deer and other game at impressive distances. The 4.5-18x magnification range is versatile, making it suitable for both close-range and long-range hunting. Durability and Build Quality: This scope is built like a tank. It’s waterproof, shockproof, and has handled rough terrain, rain, and freezing temperatures without a hitch. I’ve taken it on hunts in harsh conditions, and it’s never let me down. Smart Features: The ATN Obsidian Core software is a major plus. Features like one-shot zero, ballistic calculator, and video recording are incredibly useful. I’ve recorded several hunts, and the footage is surprisingly clear. The ability to stream video to my phone via Wi-Fi is a neat bonus for sharing experiences with friends. Long Battery Life: With up to 18 hours of continuous use on a single charge, I’ve never had to worry about the scope dying mid-hunt. Ease of Use: The menu system is intuitive, and the scope is easy to zero in. Even for someone who isn’t tech-savvy, the learning curve is minimal. The ergonomic design and lightweight construction make it comfortable to carry and use for extended periods. Cons: Price Point: Let’s be honest this scope is expensive. While it’s packed with features, the cost might be prohibitive for casual hunters or those on a budget. Weight and Size: While it’s not overly heavy, the HD MARS 4.5-18 is bulkier than traditional scopes. On longer hunts, especially when stalking deer, the added weight can be noticeable. Limited Field of View at Higher Magnification: At 18x magnification, the field of view narrows significantly, making it harder to track moving targets. This isn’t a dealbreaker, but it’s something to keep in mind for fast-paced hunts. Real-World Performance on Deer Hunts: During my deer hunts, the ATN HD MARS 4.5-18 truly shined. The thermal imaging allowed me to spot deer in thick brush and low-light conditions where traditional optics would have failed. The one-shot zero feature made it easy to adjust for different distances, and the ballistic calculator ensured accurate shots every time. However, I did notice that the scope’s performance can be affected by extreme temperature changes. On one particularly cold morning, the image quality degraded slightly until the scope acclimated to the environment. The ATN HD MARS 4.5-18 is an outstanding thermal scope that delivers on its promises. #ATNHDMARS

Review of the Tikka T3 Hunter .30-06 with Leupold Scope on Weaver Rail As an avid hunter who has taken this rifle on numerous hunts, including deer, elk, and even a few challenging trips for wild boar, I feel confident sharing my experience with the Tikka T3 Hunter in .30-06 Springfield. Paired with a Leupold scope mounted on a Weaver rail, this setup has been my go-to for several seasons. Here’s my detailed take on its performance, pros, and cons. Pros: Accuracy: The Tikka T3 Hunter is a laser beam. Out of the box, it consistently delivers sub-MOA groups at 100 yards with factory ammunition. The .30-06 cartridge is versatile, and the rifle handles it beautifully. Whether I was taking a 150-yard shot at a whitetail or stretching it out to 300 yards on an elk, the rifle performed flawlessly. Build Quality: The Finnish craftsmanship is evident. The stock is made of high-quality wood, which not only looks stunning but also feels solid in hand. The blued steel barrel and action are durable and resistant to the elements, even after long days in the field. Smooth Bolt Action: The bolt is buttery smooth, making follow-up shots quick and effortless. Even in cold weather, it never felt sticky or sluggish. Lightweight and Balanced: At just over 7 pounds (without the scope), the T3 Hunter is easy to carry on long hikes. The balance is perfect, making it comfortable to shoulder and shoot offhand. Leupold Scope on Weaver Rail: The Leupold scope (I use a VX-3i 3.5-10x40mm) is a perfect match for this rifle. The Weaver rail provides a rock-solid mounting platform, and the scope’s clarity and light transmission are exceptional, especially during dawn and dusk hunts. Recoil Management: For a .30-06, the recoil is manageable, especially with the rifle’s ergonomic design and the added weight of the scope. It’s not a featherweight kick, but it’s far from punishing. Cons: Magazine Capacity: The detachable magazine only holds 3 rounds, which feels limiting, especially when hunting in areas where quick follow-up shots might be necessary. Stock Finish: While the wood stock is beautiful, it’s not the most durable in harsh conditions. After a few hunts in wet weather, I noticed some minor swelling and discoloration. A synthetic stock might be more practical for extreme environments. Trigger Adjustment: The factory trigger is good, but it’s not as customizable as some competitors. It’s crisp and breaks cleanly, but I would have liked the option to fine-tune the pull weight more precisely. Price of Ammo: The .30-06 is a fantastic caliber, but ammunition can be expensive, especially if you’re practicing regularly. This isn’t a fault of the rifle itself, but it’s something to consider if you’re on a budget. The Tikka T3 Hunter in .30-06 is a rifle that lives up to its reputation. It’s accurate, reliable, and beautifully crafted, making it a joy to use in the field. Paired with a Leupold scope, it’s a deadly combination for big game

Honest Review of the LEICA GEOVID PRO 10×32 Binocular-Rangefinder: A Hunter's Perspective As an avid hunter who has spent countless hours in the field pursuing various game, including wolves, I can confidently say that the LEICA GEOVID PRO 10×32 is a game-changer. This device combines the functionality of high-quality binoculars with a precise rangefinder and an integrated ballistic calculator, making it an indispensable tool for any serious hunter. Here’s my detailed take on its performance, including the pros and cons. Pros: Optical Clarity and Build Quality The optics on the LEICA GEOVID PRO 10×32 are exceptional. The 10x magnification provides a clear, bright, and sharp image, even in low-light conditions. The 32mm objective lens strikes a perfect balance between portability and light-gathering capability. The build quality is top-notch, with a rugged, weatherproof design that can withstand harsh hunting environments. Integrated Ballistic Calculator This is where the GEOVID PRO truly shines. The built-in ballistic calculator is the best I’ve ever used. It allows you to input your rifle’s ballistic data, including bullet weight, muzzle velocity, and ballistic coefficient. Once calibrated, it provides precise holdover points and elevation adjustments in real-time. This feature is a lifesaver when taking long-range shots, especially on moving targets like wolves. Rangefinding Accuracy The rangefinder is incredibly accurate, with a range of up to 1,600 yards (depending on the target’s reflectivity). I’ve tested it on various terrains, from dense forests to open plains, and it consistently delivers reliable readings. The ability to measure distance while maintaining a clear view of the target is a huge advantage. Compact and Lightweight Despite its advanced features, the GEOVID PRO is surprisingly compact and lightweight. It’s easy to carry around all day without feeling burdened, which is crucial for long hunts. User-Friendly Interface The menu system is intuitive and easy to navigate, even with gloves on. The display is clear and provides all the necessary information without cluttering the view. Cons: Price The LEICA GEOVID PRO 10×32 is undeniably expensive. While the features justify the cost for serious hunters, it may be out of reach for casual or budget-conscious users. Battery Life The device relies on a CR2 battery, which can drain quickly if you’re using the rangefinder and ballistic calculator extensively. It’s a good idea to carry spare batteries on longer hunts. Learning Curve While the interface is user-friendly, mastering all the features, especially the ballistic calculator, takes some time. New users may need to spend a few hours familiarizing themselves with the settings. Limited Low-Light Performance While the optics are excellent, the 32mm objective lens can struggle in extremely low-light conditions compared to larger models like the 42mm or 56mm variants. #LEICAGEOVIDPRO #Binocular

Review of the Antonio Zoli MG 92 Combination Gun (Drilling) – 8.57x72R + 2x 12/76 Barrels As an avid hunter who has used the Antonio Zoli MG 92 drilling combination gun for both deer and black grouse (teterev), I can confidently say that this firearm is a unique and versatile tool for hunting. However, like any piece of equipment, it has its strengths and weaknesses. Here’s my detailed take on this gun after several outings in the field. Pros: Versatility: The combination of an 8.57x72R rifle barrel and two 12/76 shotgun barrels makes this gun incredibly versatile. Whether you're stalking deer in dense woods or flushing black grouse in open fields, the MG 92 adapts seamlessly. The ability to switch between rifle and shotgun modes without changing guns is a game-changer. Build Quality: Antonio Zoli is known for its craftsmanship, and the MG 92 is no exception. The walnut stock is beautifully finished, and the metalwork is precise and durable. The gun feels solid in your hands, and the balance is excellent, even with the added weight of the Leupold scope. Accuracy: The 8.57x72R barrel is a joy to shoot. Paired with the Leupold scope (mounted on a quick-detach bracket), I consistently achieved tight groupings at 150-200 meters. The scope’s illuminated reticle was particularly useful during low-light conditions, such as dawn or dusk, when deer are most active. Quick-Detach Scope Mount: The quick-detach bracket for the Leupold scope is a fantastic feature. It allows for rapid transitions between scoped rifle shots and open shotgun barrels, which is crucial when hunting mixed terrain. The mount held zero perfectly, even after multiple removals and reattachments. Reliability: The gun performed flawlessly in various weather conditions, from rain to light snow. The shotgun barrels handled both light and heavy loads without issues, and the rifle barrel’s performance was consistent. Cons: Weight: The MG 92 is not a lightweight gun. With the Leupold scope mounted, it can feel heavy during long hikes, especially in hilly or uneven terrain. This might be a drawback for hunters who prefer a more lightweight setup. Recoil: The 8.57x72R cartridge packs a punch, and the recoil can be noticeable, especially after a full day of shooting. While it’s manageable, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to recoil or plan to shoot extensively. Ammunition Availability: The 8.57x72R is not the most common caliber, and finding ammunition can be a challenge, especially in remote areas. Reloading might be necessary for consistent supply, which adds to the overall cost and effort. Price: The Antonio Zoli MG 92 is not a budget-friendly option. It’s a premium firearm with a price tag to match. While the quality justifies the cost for serious hunters, it might be out of reach for casual or occasional hunters. Learning Curve: Switching between rifle and shotgun modes requires practice. #CombinationGun #AntonioZoliMG92 https://m.uh.app/news/review-of-antonio-zoli-columbus-gold-shotgun-12-76-750mm-as-an-avid_35MV8N8kEe-0JKvWOtkCIg

Review of the J.&W. Tolley 12 Gauge Side-by-Side Hammergun (75 cm Barrels) As an avid hunter with years of experience, I recently had the opportunity to take my vintage J.&W. Tolley 12-gauge side-by-side hammergun on a hunting trip for wild boar and geese. This gun, which is over 100 years old, is a true piece of history, and using it in the field was both a privilege and a challenge. Here’s my detailed review, including the pros and cons of this classic firearm. Pros: Craftsmanship and Aesthetics: The J.&W. Tolley hammergun is a masterpiece of English gunmaking. The walnut stock is beautifully figured, and the engraving on the action and hammers is exquisite. Carrying this gun feels like holding a piece of art. The 75 cm barrels are perfectly balanced, giving the gun a classic, elegant look. Reliability: Despite its age, this gun performed admirably in the field. The side-by-side configuration and external hammers (true "курковка") are simple and reliable. I used modern 12-gauge shells (2 ¾ inch) without any issues, and the gun fired consistently, even in damp conditions. Handling and Balance: The gun is well-balanced and points naturally. For a 12-gauge, it’s relatively lightweight, which made it easy to carry during long hunts. The 75 cm barrels provided excellent swing and accuracy, especially when targeting geese in flight. Historical Appeal: Using a gun that’s over a century old adds a unique dimension to the hunting experience. It’s a conversation starter and a reminder of the rich heritage of English gunmaking. Cons: Recoil: The lack of a modern recoil pad makes this gun punishing to shoot, especially with heavy loads. After a day of hunting, my shoulder was sore. This is something to consider if you plan to use it for extended periods. Maintenance: As an antique, this gun requires meticulous care. The external hammers and intricate mechanisms are prone to dirt and moisture, so regular cleaning is essential. I wouldn’t recommend this gun for someone who isn’t prepared to maintain it properly. Limited Range: While the 75 cm barrels are great for close to medium-range shots, I found the gun less effective at longer ranges compared to modern shotguns. This was particularly noticeable when hunting wild boar, where precision at distance is crucial. Safety Concerns: The external hammers can be a safety hazard if not handled carefully. There’s always a risk of accidentally catching the hammers on clothing or brush, which could lead to an unintended discharge. The J.&W. Tolley 12-gauge hammergun is a remarkable piece of history that still holds its own in the field. Its craftsmanship, reliability, and handling make it a joy to use, but its age and design come with certain limitations. This gun is best suited for experienced hunters who appreciate its historical significance and are willing to put in the effort to maintain it. #VintageShotgun #EnglishGunmaking #JWTolley #SideBySideShotgun #Hammergun
