Heckler & Koch SLB 2000 Light Semi-Automatic Rifle in .30-06 with Swarovski Habicht 2.5-10x56 Scope Review
As an experienced hunter who has taken this rifle on multiple hunts for wild boar and deer, I can confidently say that the Heckler & Koch SLB 2000 Light is a premium firearm with both strengths and weaknesses. Paired with the Swarovski Habicht 2.5-10x56 scope, it’s a formidable setup, but it’s not without its quirks. Here’s my detailed take:
Pros:
Build Quality and Reliability:
The German engineering of the SLB 2000 Light is impeccable. The rifle feels solid, with a high-quality finish and precise machining. It’s clear that Heckler & Koch didn’t cut corners. The semi-automatic action is smooth and reliable, even in harsh weather conditions. During my hunts, it performed flawlessly, cycling .30-06 rounds without a single malfunction.
Accuracy:
The .30-06 caliber is a proven choice for medium to large game, and the SLB 2000 Light delivers exceptional accuracy. At 200 meters, I consistently achieved tight groupings, which is critical for ethical hunting. The rifle’s free-floating barrel and ergonomic design contribute to its precision.
Ergonomics and Handling:
The rifle is well-balanced and relatively lightweight for a semi-automatic in this caliber. The stock is comfortable, and the controls are intuitive. It’s easy to carry during long stalks, and the recoil is manageable, thanks to the gas-operated system.
Versatility:
The .30-06 caliber is versatile enough for a wide range of game, from wild boar to deer. The semi-automatic action allows for quick follow-up shots, which can be crucial when hunting unpredictable animals like boars.
Cons:
Price:
The SLB 2000 Light is undeniably expensive. When you add the cost of the Swarovski scope, this setup becomes a significant investment. While the quality justifies the price for serious hunters, it’s not a budget-friendly option.
Weight:
While it’s lighter than some semi-automatic rifles, the SLB 2000 Light is still heavier than bolt-action alternatives. This can be a drawback during long hikes or when hunting in rugged terrain.
Maintenance:
The semi-automatic action requires more maintenance than a bolt-action rifle. Cleaning and lubricating the gas system can be time-consuming, especially after a muddy or dusty hunt.
Ammunition Sensitivity:
The rifle can be picky with ammunition. While it performed well with premium hunting rounds, it occasionally struggled with cheaper, lower-quality ammo.
Noise and Recoil:
While the recoil is manageable, the .30-06 caliber still packs a punch, and the semi-automatic action can be louder than a bolt-action rifle.
The Heckler & Koch SLB 2000 Light in .30-06, paired with the Swarovski Habicht 2.5-10x56 scope, is a top-tier hunting rifle that delivers exceptional performance. Its reliability, accuracy, and versatility make it an excellent choice for serious hunters. #HecklerAndKoch #SLB2000Light #3006Caliber

Honest Review of the BERETTA A300 ULTIMA 12-GAUGE SEMI-AUTOMATIC SHOTGUN
As a hunter who’s used the Beretta A300 Ultima for waterfowl (geese) and big game (wild boar), I can confidently say it’s a reliable and versatile shotgun. Here’s my take after field testing.
Pros:
Reliability in All Conditions
The Beretta A300 Ultima performed flawlessly in harsh environments. Whether in marshes or dense forests, it cycled smoothly with no malfunctions, handling light target loads to heavy 3-inch magnum shells effortlessly.
Lightweight and Balanced
Weighing under 7 pounds, the A300 Ultima is easy to carry during long hunts. Its balance makes it ideal for quick shots at geese or charging boars.
Low Recoil
The gas-operated system reduces felt recoil, even with heavy loads. After a full day of shooting, my shoulder felt fine - perfect for extended hunts.
Durability and Finish
The synthetic stock and corrosion-resistant finish make the A300 Ultima tough. It handled rain, mud, and scratches without issue, requiring minimal maintenance.
Easy Maintenance
Disassembling and cleaning the A300 Ultima is simple. The self-cleaning gas piston system saves time after long hunting days.
Versatility
The Beretta A300 Ultima is a true all-rounder. With the right choke and ammo, it’s effective for both waterfowl and big game. I used a modified choke for geese and a full choke for boar, achieving consistent patterns and knockdown power.
Cons:
Limited Aftermarket Support
Finding aftermarket parts like extended chokes or custom stocks can be challenging compared to models like the Beretta A400 or Benelli M2.
Trigger Feel
The trigger is serviceable but not exceptional. It’s heavy and lacks the crisp break of higher-end shotguns. Fine for hunting, but competitive shooters may find it lacking.
Magazine Capacity
The standard 3+1 capacity is adequate for most hunts, but I wished for an extended magazine when facing larger boar sounders.
Stock Fit
The synthetic stock is durable but lacks adjustability. Hunters with longer or shorter arms may find it less comfortable without modifications.
Price Point
While not the most expensive, the A300 Ultima is still a significant investment. Budget-conscious hunters might find more affordable options that perform nearly as well.
Final Thoughts:
The Beretta A300 Ultima is an excellent choice for hunters needing a reliable, versatile, and durable shotgun. It excels in waterfowl and big game hunting, offering low recoil, easy maintenance, and consistent performance. While it has minor drawbacks like limited aftermarket support and a mediocre trigger, its overall value is undeniable.
If you’re looking for a shotgun that handles various hunting scenarios without breaking the bank, the Beretta A300 Ultima is a solid pick. It’s not perfect, but it’s close enough to earn a permanent spot in my hunting arsenal.

Cyprus Federation for Hunting
The Cyprus Hunting & Wildlife Conservation Federation was established in 1952 by the then hunting associations of Nicosia, Limassol and the hunting clubs of Famagusta, Larnaca and Paphos.
The objectives of the Federation were defined in its statutes and include, among others, the protection, development and enrichment of the Cypriot fauna, the preservation and development of hunting resources in the country within the framework of sustainable management, the promotion of the sport of hunting, the organization of hunters in hunting clubs, the coordination of their actions to improve the conditions for conducting hunting, the development of hunting education and knowledge about the environment as well as the care of hunting dogs. In the context of promoting the above objectives, the Federation also collaborates with other international organizations both in Europe and worldwide, such as FACE (European Federation for Hunting and Conservation) which consists of organizations from 37 countries and represents 9,000,000 hunter members in Europe and wider Europe and the CIC (International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation).
KOK & DAZ is undoubtedly the largest active environmental organization in our country and the only legally recognized representative of Cypriot hunters. Every active Hunting Association throughout the Pancyprian Islands is a member of the Federation, whose representatives and agents promote its objectives practically but where necessary, also by promoting legislation through parliamentary parties.
Structurally, the Federation consists of its clubs throughout Cyprus, integrated into it through its provincial departments.

Successful jackal hunt in Stavropol Krai
Good morning! This is Maxim from the RikaNV team, and today we are sharing the results of our predator hunt in Stavropol Krai. This season, we continue to actively work on controlling the jackal population, and we have some exciting news!
Jackal Hunt
Last night, we managed to thin out the jackal population near a semi-abandoned farm. Three individuals ran out onto the sled: two were eliminated on the spot, and the third went into the bushes as a wounded animal. We have already left to search for it to complete the task.

Murthly & Strathbraan Estates are situated at the entrance to the Scottish Highlands.
The Estate is wonderfully located by the river Tay near Dunkeld. Murthly & Strathbraan Estates extends to some 11,000 acres. The ground ranges from rolling arable land with ancient woodlands up to the Strathbraan Hills to the West. The Estate benefits from excellent topography allowing us to show superb driven partridges and pheasants.
SHOOTING
A day’s shooting or stalking at Murthly & Strathbraan Estates begins with a warm welcome from our head keeper Fergus McGregor and his team, at a traditional Perthshire farm court which has been converted for the use of guns, and is heated by a wood-burning stove.
Since 2002, Fergus has continuously improved the shooting experience, using the wide variety of terrain to be found at the foot of the soft Perthshire Highlands to give you an exciting and varied day out. As a result we have built up a loyal customer base, with shooting parties returning year after year to sample the new challenges set to them by Fergus and enjoy his company.
The beauty of the Estate’s natural setting and designed landscape is irresistible to many. There is partridge shooting over heather, birch woods and upland; pheasant shooting in the landscaped grounds around the castle, with their mature Douglas Firs, California Redwoods, and other specimen trees; and walked-up shooting anywhere in the fine woods.
STALKING
We also offer stalking on the Estate, with red, roe and fallow deer all present. This allows you to sample the whole variety of terrain that Highland Perthshire has to offer within an area of a just a few square miles, thanks to the Estate’s position at the foot of the Highlands.

Very soon, UH.app will be available in the most remote wilderness. It will be available on the highest mountains, in endless savannahs and prairies. Where it seemed impossible before.
The Starlink satellite Internet, launched by SpaceX in 2019, is becoming increasingly popular in African countries. Starlink offers high-speed connectivity even in the most remote regions where traditional Internet infrastructure is either lacking or underdeveloped.
The service has already had a major impact on the market, especially in Kenya, where the number of subscribers has reached 8000 since its launch in July 2023. This undermines the monopoly of large providers such as Safaricom.
Bear hunting with Laika ( Russian husky )
On this video shown the most correct, typical LAIKA work (hunt) on a bear.
The Russian word LAIKA (лайка) is a noun derived from the verb layat' (лаять, to bark), and literally means barker. As the name of a dog variety, it is used not only in Russian cynological literature, but sometimes in other languages as well to refer to all varieties of hunting dogs traditionally kept by the peoples of the northern Russia and adjacent areas.
Laikas are aboriginal spitz from Northern Russia, especially Siberia but also sometimes expanded to include Nordic hunting breeds. Laika breeds are primitive dogs who flourish with minimal care even in hostile weather. Laika is a universal breed of hunting dog. Generally, laika breeds are expected to be versatile hunting dogs, capable of hunting game of a variety of sizes by treeing small game, pointing and baying larger game and working as teams to corner bear and boar. However a few laikas have specialized as herding or sled dogs.
On this video shown the most correct, typical lakes’ work on a bear. The most successful will be only with two or three laika, of course, provided they are vicious and viscous. With this number, the division of labor is perfectly carried out: one laika attacks from the front and thereby distracts the attention of the beast; others, attacking from the flanks, seize convenient moments and, flying up with lightning speed, give a grip. When the dog is in the grip, the beast always turns instantly, like a spring, in order to catch the enemy in the rear, and thereby opens its rear to others. The grip of the new dog repeats, and again the bear instantly turns back.
Laika that works confidently and efficiently on a bear is the dream of any Russian Hunter. There are such dogs, but they are few. Let's try to figure out why not all dogs become bear-hunters.
There more than 30 deferent laika breeds in Russia for now. Since well-known bear hunter, Prince Shirinsky-Shikhmatov first cataloged 13 breeds of laikas: Zyryan, Finno-Karelian, Vogul, Cheremis, Ostyak, Tungus, Votyak, Galician, Norvegian, Buryatian, Soyotian, Laplandian and Samoyed Laika in the beginning of 20th century.
All Laika breeds in Russia are divided into three large groups: Hunting Laika, Herding Laika, Sled Laika
These breeds commonly recognized in Russia as Hunting Laikas: East Siberian Laika, Finnish Spitz, Karelian Bear Dog, Karelo-Finnish laika, Russo-European Laika, West Siberian Laika.

Honest Review of the Browning GTS Special 12/76 (760mm Barrels, 5 Chokes)
As an avid hunter who has used the Browning GTS Special 12/76 for both goose and wild boar hunting, I can confidently say that this shotgun is a solid performer in the field. However, like any firearm, it has its strengths and weaknesses. Here’s my detailed take on this gun after several hunting trips.
Pros:
Exceptional Build Quality:
The Browning GTS Special lives up to the brand’s reputation for craftsmanship. The walnut stock is beautifully finished, and the metalwork is polished to perfection. It feels like a premium firearm in your hands, which is always a confidence booster in the field.
Versatility:
The 760mm barrels and 5 interchangeable chokes make this shotgun incredibly versatile. Whether I was shooting geese at long range or taking down a wild boar at closer distances, the gun performed admirably. The ability to switch chokes quickly is a huge plus for adapting to different hunting scenarios.
Reliability:
I’ve used this shotgun in various weather conditions, from rainy mornings in the marsh to cold, dry days in the forest. It has never failed to fire, and the ejection system works flawlessly. This reliability is crucial when you’re out in the field and can’t afford a misfire.
Balance and Handling:
The weight distribution of the Browning GTS Special is excellent. It feels balanced when shouldered, and the 760mm barrels provide a smooth swing, which is particularly helpful for tracking fast-moving targets like geese.
Recoil Management:
Despite being a 12-gauge, the recoil is manageable, even after a full day of shooting. This is partly due to the gun’s weight and the well-designed stock, which absorbs much of the kick.
Cons:
Weight Browning:
While the weight contributes to recoil management, it can be a drawback during long hunting trips, especially when you’re carrying the gun for hours. It’s not the lightest option out there, so be prepared for some fatigue.
Price:
The Browning GTS Special is not a budget-friendly option. It’s a premium shotgun, and the price reflects that. While I believe it’s worth the investment for serious hunters, it might not be the best choice for someone who hunts only occasionally.
Maintenance:
The intricate design and high-quality finish require regular maintenance to keep the gun in top condition. If you’re not someone who enjoys cleaning and oiling your firearm after every use, this might not be the gun for you.
Length:
The 760mm barrels are great for long-range shots, but they can feel cumbersome in dense brush or tight hunting blinds. If you’re primarily hunting in close quarters, you might find the length a bit inconvenient.
Final Thoughts:
The Browning GTS Special 12/76 is a top-tier shotgun that delivers exceptional performance for both waterfowl and big game hunting. Its versatility, reliability, and premium build quality make it a joy to use in the field. #BrowningGTS #ShotgunReview
A young brown bear searches for food at low tide, looking for crabs or small fish under rocks.
A bear walks along the shore eating crabs and barnacles at low tide and grasses in Glendale Cove, British Columbia, Canada.
Brown bears are one of the most powerful land mammals. The bear's front paws, armed with powerful claws, are a universal tool with which the beast digs a den, digs up the holes of marmots and ground squirrels, turns over rocks that are too heavy for humans, breaks trees, and catches fish. Claws are excellent ground hooks. Thanks to them, bears can easily move along steep slopes, where it is difficult for a person to stay.
Grizzly bears are one of the strongest land mammals, their strength is comparable to that of 3-5 humans. They can easily flip over large rocks in search of food. In the video, a young bear turns over a rock with one paw to find small fish and crustaceans hiding at low tide.

повысить эффективность и прозрачность государственного управления в области охоты и сохранения охотничьих ресурсов;
обеспечить взаимодействие федеральных органов исполнительной власти Российской Федерации и органов государственной власти субъектов Российской Федерации с юридическими лицами и индивидуальными предпринимателями, осуществляющими виды деятельности в области охотничьего хозяйства, а также обеспечить своевременное и комплексное информирование юридических и физических лиц о состоянии охотничьих ресурсов и среды их обитания;
автоматизировать комплекс мероприятий, направленных на сбор, накопление, передачу, хранение, защиту, обработку, поиск, преобразование и предоставление информации в области охоты и сохранения охотничьих ресурсов органам государственной власти, органам местного самоуправления, юридическим лицам для выполнения ими своих функциональных обязанностей и в виде предоставления услуг по информационному обеспечению для физических лиц;

Alexandra Henton,THE FIELD Editor:
“Dickens was one of the first Field readers. Well, he might have been – he was certainly drinking pals with The Field’s first editor. Back in 1853, the magazine was founded for those who loved shooting, fishing, hunting and could sniff out a decent claret at 1,000 paces.
It’s still like that today. The Field gives its readers the best, whether it’s guns, rods, writing or photography. We like to think it’s like a great party – entertaining, informative and provocative.”
The Field Magazine is a monthly glossy dedicated to those brave souls who shoot, fish and hunt way beyond the call of duty. Since 1853, its staff has selflessly brought its readers the cream of rural life, be it pheasant shooting, dry-fly fishing or the distinct merits of Cheval Blanc. If you love fieldsports, errant terriers and very foxy friends at hunt balls, The Field is for you.

Behemoth ( hippopotamus ) has been studied quite a bit. It's not easy to watch this cautious giant, constantly sitting up to his ears in his favorite swamp.
What we know for sure from the Hippos is t that you can't lose weight by eating grass, salads and walking in the fresh air )))
An adult male hippopotamus is 4 meters long and 4 tons of live weight. That is, the mass of two cars, this is not a sheep sneezed! By its size, the hippopotamus, overtaking the buffalo, shares with the rhinoceros an honorable second place (after the elephant) among land animals.
The name in Hebrew is בההוו (behemoth) - "terrible beasts". The second, more learned name is ἱπποπόταμος (hippopotamos), which literally means "river horse" in Greek.
The hippopotamus is considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. An embittered animal can kill a person in a matter of minutes, trampling him with its feet or inflicting fatal wounds with its fangs.
The behemoth is also strong in the water: it is capable of turning over a medium-sized sailing vessel, and turning the hull of the boat, easily biting through with huge fangs, literally into a sieve.
Hippopotamuses are the most dangerous, protecting their only cub. Suspecting the slightest danger, the female rushes at the enemy, sweeping away everything in her path, and fights to the last.
According to some reports, more people die each year as a result of hippo attacks in Africa than from crocodile attacks.

Norwegian Association of Hunters and Anglers
Norvegian: Norges Jeger- og Fiskerforbund, NJFF
The Norwegian Hunters and Anglers Association (NJFF) is the country's only nationwide organization for hunters and anglers, and one of the most important environments for disseminating knowledge about hunting and fishing in Norway. We have around 120,000 members, divided into 550 local associations and 19 regional teams. NJFF is one of the country's largest outdoor organizations, and also one of the oldest. We employ around 80 people, of which 40 work in the central administration and 40 work in the regional offices.
NJFF work to secure the strong position of hunting and fishing in Norway. The association's primary task is to secure the general public's access to hunting and fishing opportunities in the future. Therefore, the organization has a strong commitment to nature management and various hunting and fishing policy issues. The association's vision is "hunting and fishing joy for everyone - forever"
The Norwegian Hunters and Anglers Association is democratically organized at all three organizational levels; local, regional and national. All levels elect their own board members, and all operations are based on voluntary and non-profit efforts.
NJFF is local: It is in our many local associations that members find most of the membership offers and activities. Here, there are activities such as hunting, fishing, shooting, training of hunting dogs and hunter test courses and much more.
NJFF is regional: The regional associations act as a link between the central administration and the local associations in their region. They help the local associations with various matters, from financial issues, training and courses and political influence.
NJFF is national: Every three years, the national assembly elects a new federation board and adopts the Action Program, which sets the framework for the organization's work in the coming years. The national assembly is the highest body in the entire organization. Decisions made here apply to all levels.
NJFF is international: The Norwegian Hunters and Fishermen's Association is a member of the Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation of the EU - FACE and the European Anglers Alliance (EAA).

Honest Review of the Beretta 1301 (610 mm, 12/76 Gauge) from a Hunter's Perspective
As an avid hunter, I’ve had the opportunity to use the Beretta 1301 (610 mm barrel, 12/76 gauge) in various hunting scenarios, and I’d like to share my thoughts on this shotgun. Overall, it’s a solid choice for hunters, but like any firearm, it has its strengths and weaknesses.
Pros:
Reliability:
The Beretta 1301 is incredibly reliable, even in harsh conditions. Whether I’m hunting in wet, muddy environments or dusty fields, it has never failed to cycle properly. This is a huge plus for hunters who need a dependable firearm in unpredictable weather.
Lightweight and Maneuverable:
At just over 3 kg (6.6 lbs), the 1301 is surprisingly lightweight for a 12-gauge shotgun. The 610 mm barrel makes it easy to handle in dense brush or tight spaces, which is ideal for hunting game like ducks, pheasants, or even wild boar.
Fast Cycling:
The Blink gas-operated system is a game-changer. It allows for rapid follow-up shots, which is crucial when hunting fast-moving game. I’ve found it particularly useful during driven hunts where quick reactions are essential.
Ergonomics:
The stock and grip are well-designed, providing a comfortable and natural feel. The recoil pad does a decent job of absorbing shock, making it easier to shoot for extended periods without discomfort.
Versatility:
The 12/76 chambering allows for a wide range of ammunition, from light target loads to heavier hunting rounds. This versatility makes it suitable for different types of game and hunting styles.
Durability:
The build quality is excellent, with a corrosion-resistant finish that holds up well over time. Even after months of use, the shotgun still looks and performs like new.
Cons:
Price:
The Beretta 1301 is not cheap. While the quality justifies the cost for serious hunters, it might be out of reach for those on a tight budget.
Limited Aftermarket Support:
Compared to more popular hunting shotguns, the 1301 has fewer aftermarket accessories available. If you’re someone who likes to customize your firearm extensively, this might be a drawback.
Recoil:
While the recoil pad helps, the lightweight design means you’ll still feel a significant kick, especially with heavier loads. This can be tiring during long hunting sessions.
Magazine Capacity:
The standard magazine holds 4+1 rounds, which is adequate but not exceptional. For some hunting scenarios, a higher capacity would be preferable.
Barrel Length:
The 610 mm barrel is great for maneuverability but may not be ideal for long-range shots. Hunters who prefer shooting at greater distances might find it limiting.
The Beretta 1301 (610 mm, 12/76) is a high-quality shotgun that excels in reliability, speed, and maneuverability. It’s a fantastic choice for hunters who need a lightweight, fast-cycling firearm for close to mid-range game. #Beretta1301 #ShotgunReview #HuntingGear #12GaugeShotgun

JAGD ÖSTERREICH
JÖ brand is about how centuries-old hunting tradition meets modernity. Hunting in Austria dates back to medieval times, with royal families like the Habsburgs playing a pivotal role in shaping the country’s hunting heritage. JAGD ÖSTERREICH continues this legacy while integrating modern conservation practices and sustainable management techniques.
The nine Austrian hunting associations are strengthening their transnational cooperation. As a basis for this, they have developed the umbrella brand "Jagd Österreich". By uniting these associations under the JAGD ÖSTERREICH brand, Austria aims to strengthen its hunting community, enhance collaboration between regions, and promote responsible hunting as a key component of wildlife conservation and rural development.
Austrian hunting associations united under umbrella brand “JAGD ÖSTERREICH”:
1. Bundesjägerkammer Österreich (Federal Hunters' Chamber of Austria). The central governing body for hunters in Austria, responsible for setting standards, providing education, and representing hunters' interests nationwide.
2. Österreichischer Jagdsportverband (Austrian Hunting Sports Association). Focuses on the sporting aspects of hunting, organizing competitions and events to promote skill development and fair chase principles.
3. Deer Management Group Austria (Hirschwirtschaftliche Arbeitsgemeinschaft Österreich). Specializes in deer population management, habitat conservation, and research to ensure sustainable deer hunting practices.
4. Kärntner Jägerschaft (Carinthian Hunters' Association). Represents hunters in the federal state of Carinthia, focusing on regional hunting traditions, wildlife management, and environmental protection.
5. Niederösterreichische Landesjägerschaft (Lower Austrian State Hunters' Association). Serves hunters in Lower Austria, emphasizing education, conservation, and community engagement within the region.
6. Tiroler Jägerschaft (Tyrolean Hunters' Association). Advocates for hunting traditions in Tyrol, with a strong focus on alpine wildlife management and preserving the unique biodiversity of the region.
7. Vorarlberger Jägerschaft (Vorarlberg Hunters' Association). Represents hunters in Vorarlberg, promoting sustainable hunting practices and supporting local conservation efforts.
8. Salzburger Jägerschaft (Salzburg Hunters' Association). Works to protect and manage wildlife in Salzburg while upholding traditional hunting values and fostering public awareness about conservation.
9. Burgenländische Jägerschaft (Burgenland Hunters' Association). Focuses on hunting and wildlife management in Burgenland, balancing modern conservation techniques with respect for local customs and heritage.
According to the umbrella brand "Jagd Österreich", which was jointly developed by all nine state hunting associations under external supervision, the core mission of hunting continues to be to provide for or create sustainable values.
Hunting is one of the main pillars of sustainable land use in Austria. Therefore, the representation of the interests of all about 132,000 members of the state hunting associations by an umbrella organization is very important. This website gives an overview of topics, competences and tasks of hunting in the entire federal territory.
4 Hunting saints in Austria
9 Hunting museums in Austria
100 wild Hunting species in Austria
12.000 Hunting grounds and places
20.000 Hunting and nature protection org
45.000 Different Animal species in Austria
130.000 Hunters and outfitters in Austria
1.000.000.000€ Hunting annual economic output
There are four core service areas by "Jagd Österreich", four services that only hunting can provide:
1 Currently, only the hunting communities in all nine federal states can ensure the competent and responsible practice of the craft of sustainable hunting.
2. Provide the regional population with delicious and high-quality venison from local territories. In addition, hunting communities are playing an increasingly important role as partners in nature conservation.
3. Game and its habitats must be protected and preserved in their diversity.
4. The preservation, expansion and dissemination of knowledge about hunting, game and nature – also in the sense of tradition and customs – is a very important social function of hunting.
In Austria hunters have been performing a variety of tasks in nature for centuries and this often goes unnoticed. Very often in inaccessible places and at unusual times. Of course, hunters use renewable resources. In this way, they ensure, among other things, a balanced diversity in and between the animal and plant world. In addition, hunters preserve and protect habitats of native wild animals as well as the crafts and traditions of hunting. In this sense, hunting strives to preserve values that should also last for future generations. In addition to agriculture and forestry, it thus forms one of three essential pillars of sustainable land use in Austria.
JAGD ÖSTERREICH plays a crucial role in preserving Austria's biodiversity. For example, it has been instrumental in reintroducing species such as the ibex, chamois, and beaver into their natural habitats after they were nearly extinct due to overhunting in the past. Austria is renowned for its expertise in deer management, particularly red deer (Rothirsch). JAGD ÖSTERREICH works closely with scientists and wildlife managers to maintain healthy deer populations through careful monitoring, habitat improvement, and regulated hunting quotas.
JAGD ÖSTERREICH informs about it activities on social media platforms like UH.app, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for updates on events, conservation projects, and educational initiatives

Honest Review of the Hatsan Escort Dynamax 12x76 Semi-Auto Shotgun (Black Synthetic)
Pros:
Affordable and Reliable: The Hatsan Escort Dynamax is an excellent entry-level semi-automatic shotgun for those on a budget. It offers great value for the price, making it accessible for beginners or casual shooters.
Durable Build: The black synthetic stock is lightweight yet sturdy, making it resistant to harsh weather conditions and rough handling. It’s perfect for hunting or outdoor use.
Smooth Operation: The semi-automatic action cycles reliably with most 12-gauge loads, including 76mm (3-inch) shells. It’s great for clay shooting, hunting, or home defense.
Easy to Maintain: The shotgun disassembles quickly and easily for cleaning, which is a big plus for those who aren’t fans of complicated maintenance routines.
Comfortable to Shoot: The ergonomic design and recoil pad help reduce felt recoil, making it more comfortable to shoot over extended periods.
Versatile: It comes with 5 chokes (Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full), allowing you to adapt to different shooting scenarios.
Cons:
Heavy Trigger Pull: The trigger is on the heavier side, which can affect accuracy, especially for precision shooting. It’s something to get used to over time.
Break-In Period: Some users report that the shotgun requires a break-in period with heavier loads to cycle lighter loads reliably. This can be a minor inconvenience for those eager to start shooting right away.
Fit and Finish: While functional, the overall fit and finish are not as refined as higher-end shotguns. The synthetic stock feels a bit plasticky, and the metal parts could benefit from better finishing.
Recoil: Despite the recoil pad, the lightweight design can make the recoil feel sharper compared to heavier shotguns. It’s manageable but worth noting for smaller-framed shooters.
Limited Aftermarket Support: Accessories and customization options are somewhat limited compared to more popular brands like Beretta or Benelli.
Overall Impression:
The Hatsan Escort Dynamax 12x76 is a solid choice for those looking for an affordable, reliable, and versatile semi-automatic shotgun. It’s not without its flaws, but for the price, it delivers excellent performance and durability. It’s ideal for beginners, casual shooters, or anyone who needs a dependable shotgun for hunting or recreational shooting. If you’re willing to overlook some minor drawbacks, this shotgun is a great value for the money.

Canada goose hunting from kayak. GoPro video.
An interesting fact is that of all the subspecies of geese, the Canadian goose flies the worst. This is due to its large weight. That is why the author of the video was in no hurry to get the gun out of the case.
Canada geese have been introduced in Europe in the early 17th century by explorer Samuel de Champlain who sent several pairs of geese to France as a present for King Louis XIII. The Canada goose was one of the many species described by Carl Linnaeus in his 18th-century work Systema Naturae.
The Canadian goose (Branta canadensis) is a waterfowl from the duck family. It is the most widespread waterfowl in North America: its population exceeds 5 million individuals.
The body length of the Canadian goose is 55-110 cm, the wingspan is 120-180 cm, and the weight is 2.0—6.5 kg.
The Canadian goose is native to North America. Currently, the bird breeds mainly in Alaska and Canada, including on the Arctic coasts and islands of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. And also on the Aleutian Islands in Russia.
The Canada goose is almost exclusively herbivorous. It feeds mainly on land, tearing off the green parts of herbaceous plants and digging out their rhizomes and bulbs with its rather strong beak.
Canada geese live on the banks of rivers, reservoirs, swamps, and flooded lowlands. The Canada goose walks very well on the ground and swims well, but it flies worse than other geese.
Canada geese are known for their seasonal migrations. Most Canada geese have staging or resting areas where they join up with others. Their autumn migration can be seen from September to the beginning of November. Some geese return to the same nesting ground year after year and lay eggs with their mate, raising them in the same way each year.
Canada geese fly in a distinctive V-shaped flight formation, with an altitude of 1 km (3,000 feet) for migration flight. The maximum flight ceiling of Canada geese is unknown, but they have been reported at 9 km (29,000 feet).
The Canada goose is a favorite hunting object due to its size and the taste of the meat. About 400,000 representatives of this species are shot annually during the hunting season in the USA and Canada. In Russia, hunting for the Canadian goose, which lives only on the Aleutian Islands, is prohibited.

Chief Ranger Sam Woodring stands outside a deer antler house in Yellowstone National Park, USA, 1928.
Sam T. Woodring is known to history as the first superintendent at Grand Teton National Park, a chief ranger at Yellowstone National Park and as a U.S. Army veteran. He assisted presidents and helped build Grand Teton’s trail system; a peak in the park is named in his honor.
Mount Woodring (11,595 feet (3,534 m)) is located in the Teton Range, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. The mountain is immediately west of Leigh Lake and is sandwiched between Paintbrush Canyon to the south and Leigh Canyon to the north. The best access to the summit is from Paintbrush Divide along the Paintbrush Canyon Trail. Mount Woodring bears the name of Grand Teton National Park’s first superintendent Woodring.
Over his 13 years in the military, Sam T. Woodring primarily served as a packer, with his service taking him to Cuba, the Philippines and Mexico. Woodring later helped the Army administer Yellowstone National Park and after the National Park Service took over, he joined the agency in 1920.
His government service brought him into contact with powerful people. Woodring assisted Theodore Roosevelt with a wolf and coyote hunt in Oklahoma in 1904, and the president “was but one of many notables with whom Woodring became fast friends while out on the trail in the wilds,” then-Park Service Director Horace Albright and Frank Taylor wrote in their 1929 book “Oh, Ranger.” While serving in Yellowstone, Woodring also met presidents Warren G. Harding and Calvin Coolidge, and he fished with the crown prince of Sweden.
«One day the Crown Prince went fishing with Chief Ranger Sam Woodring at Peale Island in Yellowstone Lake. After a good day, in which the Prince caught his limit, the party made ready to leave. Observing the rangers cutting wood near the cabin used as a headquarters for fishing parties, the Prince inquired the purpose of the wood. He was told that it was the practice in the mountains never to leave a cabin without wood, and that those in the cabin were supposed to replenish the supply for the next occupants, who might possibly arrive in the night or in distress.
"All right," he said, "since I have enjoyed the hospitality of the cabin I will insist upon cutting my share of the wood." Which he did.»
These are the lines from the book mentioning Sam T. Woodring. Albright described Woodring as “a remarkable ranger” whose life “has been a round of adventure.”
Tiger Dog Hunter Is Released. Watch the video.
An impressive video of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment releasing Amur tiger recently captured in the Khasansky district, which devoured a bunch of dogs there.
Look how big he is, he's kicked his sides pretty well on the dogs. It was taken far away and released on the border of Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories.
Since the beginning of 2025, a large number of cases of Amur tiger attacks on domestic animals have been recorded in Primorsky Krai (Eastern Russia). Residents of some villages began to fear not only for their pets, but also for their lives. At the end of the year, attacks occurred almost every day. For a long time, the tiger went unpunished. Hunters could not be involved in the capture of the killer tiger. Amur tigers in Russia are under special protection, including under the personal protection of President Vladimir Putin.
The Amur tiger is the ruler of vast territories, the area of which is 300-500 km2 for the female and 600-800 km2 for the male. If there is enough food within its territory, then the tiger does not leave its territory. When there is a shortage of game, the number of tiger attacks on livestock and dogs increases.
The fact that five conflict tigers are being captured in the south of Primorye became known at the end of December 2024. The predators went out to the settlements of Primorsky, Andreevka, Barabash, Filippovka and attacked pets.
In the vicinity of the village of Filippovka, Khasansky municipal District, employees of the Primorsky Hunting Supervision, with the support of employees of the Land of the Leopard National Park, captured a conflicted Amur tiger that frightened local residents and attacked pets. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Nature of Primorsky Krai.
The Ministry of Nature of Primorsky Krai reported that in 2024 more than 200 cases of Amur tiger attacks on domestic animals were registered. The main causes of conflict situations were the increased population of Amur tigers and neglected grazing of farm animals and chained dogs in unfenced areas, which provokes the release of tigers into populated areas.
The Amur tiger belongs to the largest subspecies. The coat is thicker than that of tigers living in warmer areas, and its color is lighter. The main coat color in winter is orange, and the belly is white.
The Amur tiger belongs to the largest subspecies. The coat is thicker than that of tigers living in warmer areas, and its color is lighter. The average weight range of Amur tigers is 200-330 kg. The total length of males is 270-330 cm, and that of females is 240-275 cm. This is the only subspecies of tiger, whose representatives have a five-centimeter layer of fat on their belly, protecting them from the freezing wind at extremely low temperatures.
The Amur tiger is the most dangerous predator in the Russian Far East. As a rule, human encounters with a tiger end tragically.
