Hunting- sport that involves the seeking, pursuing, and killing of wild animals and birds, called game and game birds, primarily in modern times with firearms but also with bow and arrow. In Great Britain and western Europe, hunting is the term employed for the taking of wild animals with the aid of hounds that hunt by scent, whereas the sport of taking small game and game birds with a gun is known as shooting. In the United States and elsewhere, the term hunting is used for both hunting and shooting. In fox hunting, the kill is made by the hounds. Post: 8 July 21:01

Honest Review of the Sabatti Rover 870 in .308 Win with a 560mm Barrel As an avid hunter, I’ve had the opportunity to test the Sabatti Rover 870 in .308 Win with a 560mm barrel, paired with the Pulsar Digisight Ultra N455 LRF scope. Here’s my detailed take on this setup, including its strengths and weaknesses. Pros: Accuracy (Sub-MOA Performance): The Sabatti Rover 870 is a true performer when it comes to accuracy. With the .308 Win caliber and a 560mm barrel, I consistently achieved sub-MOA groups at 100 meters. This level of precision is exceptional for a hunting rifle, especially when paired with quality ammunition. Build Quality: The rifle is solidly built, with a robust action and a well-finished stock. The ergonomics are comfortable, and the weight distribution makes it easy to handle, even during extended hunting sessions. Versatility: The .308 Win caliber is a proven choice for medium to large game, and the Sabatti Rover 870 handles it beautifully. Whether I was hPost: 21 January 23:31
Pulsar Digex C50 Night Vision Scope with Digex X940S IR Illuminator Review I recently had the opportunity to try out the Pulsar Digex C50 night vision scope along with the Digex X940S IR illuminator, and I have to say, I am genuinely impressed with the performance of this setup. From the first time I set it up, the Digex C50 felt solid and well-built. The image quality is outstanding, even in low-light conditions. The clarity and detail are remarkable for a digital night vision device. It's easy to distinguish between different objects and even pick up movement at considerable distances, which is essential for my nocturnal hunting needs. The built-in features, such as video recording and streaming capability, are a big plus. 2100 kilometers in three days, a couple late nights and busy talking to people and giving presentations at the Parkland Outdoor Show & Expo could wear a person out but the energy at this show kept us so energized. It was really humbling talking to people there that said they'd driven all the way from Manitoba or distant locations in Saskatchewan just to meet us. The only downside to to the show was that virtually everyone that we chatted with had a picture of a bigger deer on their phone than TJ has ever taken ;) It was pretty cool spending time with several of the top TV show hosts and outdoor personalities in Canada. Wines to Pair with Fowl Turkey, goose, pheasant? A free-range chicken, or even a capon? The time of the season seems to indicate fowl. We kind of like the idea, since it is out of the ordinary to roast a big bird for a festive feast, the kind of bird that can feed a dozen. With that comes wine challenges, though to say “challenge” is stretching the truth. That truth is almost any wine can match nicely with a big bird roast, plenty of vegetables, maybe a grilled romaine salad with parmesan and homemade croutons. Some choices: Evolve Cellars pinot blanc ($15), almost Alsatian in style with its crispness, but it is distinctively Okanagan as well, with its viscosity and herbal notes, surrounded by delightful stone fruit elements. A sensationally good sparkling wine, the Cipes Blanc de Franc ($45) from Summerhill Pyramid Winery, is a sparkling cabernet franc, which will turn heads, and have people coming back for more, so you may need to have two bottles. It is a delightful, fruit-driven wiPost: 17 September 18:10

One of my favorite (and there are many) parts of our trips to South Africa is going to different places, hunting incredible animals, meeting and spending time with new friends, and seeing really cool things. Last year was no exception when we went for a very memorable hunt for a Blue Springbok, culling some Blesbok, getting to hold the oldest gun I’ve ever seen in this toradar from the 17th or 18th century, drinking some fantastic brandy with our host, and doing it all with my beautiful wife Ale’ on our honeymoon. Yuri Gagarin hunting, 1966. Yuri Gagarin, the first human to journey into outer space, found solace and excitement in hunting during his time on Earth. Despite his groundbreaking achievements in space exploration, Gagarin cherished the simplicity and challenge of tracking game through Russia's vast wilderness. Hunting offered Gagarin a chance to reconnect with nature and escape the pressures of his high-profile career. He particularly enjoyed bird hunting, often venturing out with friends and fellow cosmonauts to the serene landscapes surrounding his home. With his trusty shotgun in hand, Gagarin approached each hunt with the same focus and precision that defined his historic space missions. Colleagues noted his enthusiasm for the sport, describing how he would meticulously prepare for each outing, studying animal behavior and planning his strategy. Algeria lifts 25 year long ban on hunting The Algerian government has announced it is lifting the ban on hunting imposed more than 25 years ago because of an Islamist insurgency that was raging at the time, this is according to a report by the BBC. The ban is said to have led to a surge in the population of boars, causing a big nuisance in rural areas where they damaged agricultural land. Authorized hunting will now be able to take place for the next six months, Agriculture Minister Abdelhamid Hamdani was quoted by the Algerian press agency as saying. In the early 1990s, the authorities decided to confiscate hunting guns and ban hunting after armed insurgents started to steal the weapons and use them in their attacks. The ban on hunting other animals and birds has also been lifted.Post: 6 December 17:55

The house, which mirrors the vernacular tilehung style of the area, is unlisted, unusually for a property of such scale in this location. There are extensive equestrian facilities at Barbins Grange. The stable yard has 7 stables, a tack room, feed store, hay store, 2-bedroom grooms' flat with kitchen and bathroom, separate grooms' loo and a two-story office with basement cinema room. Second, your weapon will determine your season, which also determines your experience. It is nearly universal, for example, that archery season for big game happens in September because it coincides with the elk rut (mating season). Hunting during the elk rut is a uniquely powerful experience. During this time, bull elk vie for the attention of cows, piercing the mountain air with their signature bugles, grunts, chuckles, and screams. The ability to hear the animals and understand their intent, and engage in vocal communication with a 600-pound king of the forest, is one of the most intense, thrilling, and addictive elements of archery hunting. Elk language is nuanced and laden with information. As a bowhunter your goal is to paint a picture in the animal’s mind with the timing, location, tone, and intensity of your vocalization. In one situation you might imitate a cow elk looking for love, while in another you might communicate to a bull that you’re a bigger bull ready to rumble. (IfPost: 21 November 18:04
