The Different Types of Hunting in Italy There are different types of hunting in Italy. There are specific times of the year that one can go hunt. Here are some of them: Wild boar hunting in Italy Compared to other types of hunting, boar hunting is the most traditional. The reason is that hunters are allowed to join their non-hunting counterparts. The hunting takes place at sunset when the animals come to the fields to feed. Wild boar hunting originally happened in Central Italy and Maremma. Nowadays, you can hunt for them anywhere in Italy as they are populating all over the country. The best method to hunt them is to hide at a high seat that over-looks the fields in the middle of the forest. Most boars get out of the woods when it’s dark. You can hunt for them as they stroll to the fields. The best season to hunt for boars is from November to May. Duck hunting in Italy You can go on a hunting trip in Italy and enjoy hunting wild ducks. You will find ducks in the water. So, the bestPost: 15 May 20:38

Review of the Orsis 120 .308 Win Rifle As a passionate hunter, I always look for firearms that provide reliability and precision in the field. I've had the opportunity to use the Orsis 120 .308 Win rifle for a while now, and I want to share my thoughts on it both the pros and the cons based on my experiences. Pros: Accuracy: Right off the bat, the Orsis 120 impressed me with its accuracy. The .308 caliber combined with the rifle's design allows for tight groupings at distances up to 300 yards. Whether I was at the range or out in the field, I felt confident in taking shots. Build Quality: The craftsmanship of the Orsis 120 is noteworthy. The materials used feel robust, and the rifle has a solid, well-balanced feel in hand. The stock's ergonomic design makes it comfortable to shoulder, which is especially important during long hours in the field. Customizability: This rifle offers a variety of mounting options. I appreciate being able to customize it according to my preferences, wPost: 31 January 09:17
Review of Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 Scope As an avid hunter with years of experience, I was eager to try out the Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 scope on my recent hunting trip. Having heard a mix of reviews regarding this scope, I approached it with cautious optimism. Here are my thoughts after using it in the field. Build Quality and Design: The first thing that struck me about the Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 was its robust construction. The scope feels solid in hand, and the matte black finish not only looks sleek but also helps reduce glare, which is essential when hunting. It easily fits onto my rifle, and the mounting process was straightforward. The eyepiece provides a comfortable and clear sight picture, and the low-light performance is impressive for dawn and dusk hunting. Optical Clarity: One of the standout features of this scope is its optics. The clarity of the lenses is phenomenal, with bright, vivid images. At 1x magnification, it offers a wide field of view, making it ePost: 17 January 15:08
Bull Riding Rat Taxidermy Creating a Bull Riding Rat taxidermy piece involves a blend of creativity and traditional taxidermy techniques. Here's a simplified process: Preparation: First, a rat specimen is carefully skinned, and the hide is preserved through tanning to prevent decay and maintain its shape. Form Creation: A custom form or mannequin is created to fit the rat's size and pose. For this unique piece, the form would be adjusted to make the rat appear as if it's riding a small model bull. Mounting the Hide: The preserved rat hide is carefully fitted over the form. The taxidermist stitches it in place, ensuring a natural look and proper alignment of the fur. Detailing: The rat's eyes, ears, and facial features are carefully crafted and positioned for a lifelike appearance. The pose is fine-tuned to make it look like the rat is actively riding the bull. Bull Model: A miniature bull model is prepared, either crafted from scratch or purchased. The model is detailed to match aPost: 5 August 09:13
How We Tested the Best Spotting Scopes We invite manufacturers to submit any new spotting scopes introduced from mid-2022 through 2023. Because this particular category of sports optics is expensive to manufacture, and because the market isn’t nearly as dynamic as rifle scopes or binoculars—after all, once you’ve purchased a spotting scope, you’re unlikely to be in the market for another—we test spotters only every two or three years. Low-Light Performance We also measure the low-light performance of each submission by mounting them to tripods and focusing them at 200 yards at a black-and-white resolution target at twilight, all in order to measure the brightness of the glass. The scope that can “see” the longest into the gathering darkness gets top marks. The scope that loses its night-vision earliest gets the lowest score. Scopes in the middle receive scores somewhere between those two poles. How We Score and Grade Optics We break our 10-point scoring into four general categoriesPost: 29 January 17:50

Faroe Islands to set quota of 500 dolphins to be killed in controversial whale hunt The government of the Faroe Islands is proposing a catch limit of 500 dolphins for the territory's annual whale hunt this year. The move comes after last year’s pursuit saw more than 1,400 animals slaughtered in one day during the Faroese centuries-old traditional hunt, the Faroese government announced in news release this week. Grindadrap, also known as the Grind, is an annual hunt that takes place on the remote North Atlantic islands halfway between Iceland and Scotland. This week, the government announced in the release that the capping measure was “in response to the unusually large catch” on Sept. 14, 2021. Warning: Graphic photo below The government is proposing an annual catch limit of 500 white-sided dolphins for both 2022 and 2023. New Mexico bans scopes on muzzleloaders Earlier this month, the New Mexico State Game Commission voted to ban the use of scopes on all muzzleloaders beginning the 2023 hunting season. The new ruling specified that muzzleloader hunters are not allowed to use scopes on their muzzleloaders during a hunt, but that scopes are still legal for muzzleloaders during Any Legal Weapon hunts only. Stewart Liley, head biologist for the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, stated in the meeting with the commission that technology improvements have made muzzleloaders nearly as effective as centerfire rifles. Liley went on to note, “what we’re seeing biologically is that the harvest is going to be unsustainable,”. If you are planning to apply for New Mexico in 2023, please remember to take this new rule change into account.Post: 26 October 15:51

🦌 Successful Roe Deer Hunt Today: A Day to Remember This morning’s hunt was a textbook example of patience and preparation paying off. After tracking signs near the forest edge, I spotted a mature roe buck moving cautiously through the mist-covered brush. One clean shot — ethical, quick, and respectful. The gear, the wind, and timing all aligned perfectly. There’s something special about roe deer hunting: the quiet strategy, the light step, and the reward of reading nature correctly. If you’re new to stalking or planning your first roe deer hunt this season, now’s a great time — movement is high, and conditions are favorable. #RoeDeerHunting #SuccessfulHunt #HuntingStory #FieldNotes #StalkingGame #DeerHunterLife #EthicalHunting #EuropeanHunting #BigGameSeason #HuntingExperiencePost: 28 June 22:00

Noted Mumbai-based bird rescuer moves high court to quash hunting charges against him Pradeep D’souza, a well-known bird rescuer of Mumbai, recently approached the Bombay High Court seeking to quash an FIR lodged against him by the Maharashtra Forest Department for allegedly hunting and purchasing wild animals. The FIR was filed for alleged violation of the Wildlife (Protection) Act (WPA) in 2021. D’Souza, 47, claimed to be the most sought-after bird rescuer in Mumbai who rescues and rehabilitates trapped, sick and injured birds. He said that even forest department officials seek his help for rehabilitation of birds as the government had inadequate infrastructure for the same. D’Souza, in a petition filed through advocate Amrita Nair, submitted that on March 14, 2020, he had written a letter to the Office of Conservator of Forest, Thane Forest Division and had given a list of the birds rescued by him according to the guidelines provided in the WPA. He added that despite repeated effPost: 19 July 18:29

“Ever since I was a kid, an Alaskan moose hunt has been at the top of my list. And, this season, it was finally here. We were dropped deep into in the Brooks Range and quickly found ourselves chasing rutting bulls through the tundra swamps, tussocks, and ridge lines. After about a week and a handful of incredible encounters, we were hit with a days-long September snow storm. The sudden weather shift also called for a change in our tactics; we began to hunt bull moose more like a Midwest whitetail. Setting up along an obvious trail—that move proved to be the best decision we made on the entire trip. As we waited to fly the meat out, we glassed up a large grizzly—a bonus opportunity after an already successful hunt. We put a plan for a stalk in place and with luck still on our side, it all came together. There are no words to describe a hunt like this other than, once-in-a-lifetime.” - Mathews own’ Jeff Ozanne #MathewsLIFTX #mathewsPost: 16 December 09:21

ROE DEER Roe Deer is found throughout the country, forests and plains are home to this small game, weighing 25 to 30 kg (55 to 66 lbs). Known as a clever and alert animal, it is a real challenge to stalk it. Hunting Roe Deer is very popular in France and it is common to meet and harvest great trophies, sometimes amongst the biggest ones in Europe. Due to his ingeniousness, the Roe Deer is a very interesting animal to hunt. A large part of French hunters love hunting only this specie because of the reward of the deserved trophy. Stalking is the main method of hunting, probably the most interesting and fascinating one. It is also possible to hunt this species on driven hunt.Post: 27 June 01:38

Post: 2 February 09:56
The hunt photographed here was more difficult than most — for reasons beyond the weather and rugged terrain. It was my first trip back to Alaska since my father’s death in March of this year. Dad had joined me in Alaska twice before. The first trip was to fish and explore, the second to hunt caribou above the Arctic Circle. I remember asking him, “Do you want to go caribou hunting?” He shook his head with a quick, “No, not this year.” I pressed, sliding a plane ticket and his caribou tag across the dining room table. Surprised but hesitant—65 years old and a little nervous—he said yes. By June, he was packed and ready for our mid-September departure. That was Dad—quietly determined, but always prepared. We had a great hunt, and he killed a nice bull. On each solo hunt after that, I’d message him with my InReach every few days, updating him on close calls and wild moments. He loved it all. Last year, I wrote from the Alaska Peninsula, “Dad, I thought we had a big earthquake today—Post: 18 December 09:26

Hunting Seasons in Arnhem Land: Timing, Rules, and Tactics for a Successful Hunt Understanding Hunting Seasons and Wildlife Management in Arnhem Land Arnhem Land, located in the remote northern part of the Northern Territory of Australia, is known for its rugged landscapes, dense woodlands, and diverse wildlife. Due to its tropical monsoon climate, hunting seasons here are significantly different from southern regions. There is no official government-sanctioned recreational hunting season on Aboriginal-owned land, which makes up most of Arnhem Land. However, limited hunting opportunities exist under strict permissions granted by traditional landowners or through guided safari operators. These hunts typically occur during the dry season (May to October) when access is easier and animals are more concentrated around water sources. Seasonal dates are not dictated by state authorities but rather by local land councils and environmental conditions. Compared to nearby regions like Kakadu NPost: 22 August 13:30
