Review of CZ-550 Rifle in .30-06 Caliber As an avid hunter with several years of experience, I have had the opportunity to use the CZ-550 rifle in .30-06 caliber. I want to share my thoughts on this firearm, highlighting both its strengths and weaknesses to help other hunters make informed decisions. CZ 550 Pros: Accuracy: One of the standout features of the CZ-550 is its inherent accuracy. The heavy barrel design contributes to reduced recoil, enabling me to make precise shots even at extended ranges. This has been especially beneficial during deer and elk hunting seasons where long-distance shots are sometimes necessary. Build Quality: The craftsmanship of the CZ-550 is exceptional. The wood stock feels robust and offers a comfortable grip, while the metal components are solidly constructed. The overall aesthetics of the rifle are pleasing, giving it a classic look that resonates with traditional hunters. Caliber Versatility: The .30-06 caliber is a time-tested choice for a vari

Review of Dedal 490(3+) Night Vision Scope with Integrated Invisible Nivis Illuminator I recently had the opportunity to test out the Dedal 490(3+) night vision scope with the integrated invisible Nivis illuminator, and I want to share my honest thoughts on this product, particularly in the context of trophy hunting. Dedal Pros: Exceptional Clarity: One of the standout features of the Dedal 490(3+) is its remarkable image clarity. The optics provide a bright and sharp view even in low-light conditions, allowing me to spot game from considerable distances without straining my eyes. Integrated Invisible Illuminator: The Nivis illuminator is a game-changer for night hunting. It emits an invisible infrared light, which means that the game remains unaware of my presence. This was particularly beneficial during a recent hunting trip, where I managed to approach deer without them sensing me. Sturdy Build: The quality of construction of the scope is impressive. Missouri to Allow Drone Use During Hunting Season Allowing drones to be used in recover is becoming more common across the United States. All use of drones in hunting seasons has been banned in Missouri until now. The Missouri Department of Conservation released several rule changes ahead of the 2024 season. These changes include the approval of drones used specifically in recovering wounded deer, turkey, elk, and black bear. All other uses of drones to aid in the hunt are still prohibited. Pursuing, taking, driving, or harassing wildlife is still not legal. These changes reflect a growing shift toward utilizing technology to prevent the loss of animals. Drone operators must obtain permission before flying over private land in Missouri. They are also restricted from possessing a weapon during flight. There are specific regulations and rules that are required by the state of Missouri to operate a drone, even if only for recreational use. The FAA requires all drone operators to take Th

Maine and Massachusetts could soon see bans lifted on Sunday hunting In the US, there are 40 states that have no prohibitions on hunting on Sundays Some states are steadily chipping away at longstanding bans on Sunday hunting, and there's a push to overturn the laws in Maine and Massachusetts, the final two states with full bans. Maine’s highest court is considering a lawsuit asking whether the state's 19th century law, which prevents hunting big game animals such as deer, moose and turkeys on Sundays, is still necessary. In Massachusetts, where hunters are also lobbying for Sunday hunting rights, there is a renewed effort to change state laws forbidding the practice. Forty states have no prohibitions on hunting on Sundays. The bans stem from so-called "blue laws" that also regulate which businesses can remain open and where alcohol can be sold on Sundays. Animal welfare groups, conservation organizations and others are rallying to defend the prohibitions, but the end of the laws

Wisconsin wildlife officials won't seek charges against bow hunter who killed cougar MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin wildlife officials say they won’t seek charges against a bow hunter who killed a cougar. The Department of Natural Resources said in a news release Wednesday that the bow hunter shot the animal in Buffalo County and self-reported the incident to the agency’s violation hotline on Nov. 11. The department said an investigation showed the bow hunter was hunting deer when the hunter encountered the cougar and shot it in self-defense. The department news release does not identify the hunter or the hunter’s gender. Cougar sightings in Wisconsin are rare but have been increasing over the last 20 years. Cougars are native to Wisconsin but were extirpated from the state in the early 1900s. DNR officials say cougars seen in Wisconsin are likely dispersing from established populations in the western United States. Dispersing cougars rarely stay in one location for long and have

5 Off-Season Treestand Safety Reminders Do You Follow These Safety Rules? The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is reminding hunters to give some thought to hunting safety, especially for treestands during the off-season. It may seem counterintuitive at this time of year, but treestand safety is important at times other than hunting season. "Unfortunately, every year there are a number of treestand accidents with injury before deer season even opens," said Travis Casper. "We need hunters to think about and practice treestand safety all the time, not just during hunting season." If you are scouting a location and putting up your treestand, even on a trial basis, use the same precautions you would during hunting season: Wear a full-body safety harness. Use a lifeline or lineman's belt to stay connected when you're off the ground. Maintain three points of contact when climbing. Follow manufacturer instructions. Have an emergency signal and tell someone where you plan to go. The

A new luxury trip has been added to our tour range 🥳 THE SARDINE RACE IN DURBAN is one of the most exciting natural phenomena in the world. 🗓 Every year from May to July, a real underwater show unfolds off the coast of South Africa - the Sardine Run, or Sardine Race. ℹ️ The Sardine Run is not just a fish migration. It is a real ocean spectacle, which in terms of scale and spectacle is compared to the Great Antelope Migration in the Serengeti. MILLIONS of sardines move from south to north, caught by the waters of the cold Benguela Current and the warm Mozambique Current. 📈 Sardines make their way over 1000 km long, forming a school more than 15 km long, 1.5 km wide and up to 40 m deep. Dolphins, sharks, seabirds, whales and even seals hunt for sardines. The so-called "bait balls" look especially impressive - 🟠 dense balls of sardines that form when they are surrounded by predators. This is a rare opportunity to see how wildlife works in its pristine harmony and cruel beauty. 🔭

On the lake itself, you might spot coots, great crested grebes, mallards, mute swans, goldeneyes, gulls, and even the rare smew—only about 15–25 pairs nest in all of Belarus! Above the wetlands, cranes and marsh harriers soar, while the forests echo with the tapping of woodpeckers and the songs of tits, chaffinches, and thrushes. Lake Narach isn’t just a scenic retreat—it’s a vibrant home for countless winged residents. Bring your binoculars and a bit of patience, and you might just catch a glimpse of something extraordinary.

How the Grunt Call Came to Be Realtree pro staffer Brad Harris was grunting up whitetails long before deer calling was cool Brad Harris was high in a tree in Mingo Swamp in southeast Missouri when a 6-point buck walked by at about 80 yards. Harris doesn’t remember the exact year, but it was in the ’70s. He was working in the mines back in those days, and he was among several in a group who loved to bowhunt and spent about every free minute of a break talking about bows, arrows, broadheads, and whitetails. This was back in the day, Harris says, when top-of-the-line hunting equipment was a 45-pound Shakespeare recurve with cedar arrows, and just getting a deer — anything with legal antlers — was a huge accomplishment. One of those buddies at the mine had told Harris that his brother had been hunting and listened as a little buck, standing right under his tree, had made a curious grunting sound. The guy pinched his nose and re-created the grunt himself. Harris had never heard a whitetail

The rise of the German Empire under Prussian leadership was in full swing during the mid 1800’s. For the first time, the army, which up to this time had been made up chiefly of the Prussian aristocracy and peasantry, was opened up to the middle class. This, combined with sweeping economic and political changes occurring throughout Europe, led to a rise in the status of the middle class within the Empire. With this rise came increased privileges regarding land ownership and hunting. In previous centuries, it was usually only the kings, prices and nobles who had the right to hunt, and they owned vast tracks of land for this purpose. However, as the wealth of middle-class Prussia grew during the 1800’s, merchants, professionals, and other middle-class citizens were able to purchase or lease land for themselves on which, of course, they could hunt. Fulfilling a Need In Germany dense forests blended with open fields and housed all types of feather and fur, including grouse, rabbit, fox, dee

Lynx gracefull hunter Lynx swims well and is not afraid of water like domestic cats. There is documentary evidence that one lynx swam 3.2 km across the Yukon River. Also, the lynx is good at climbing and hiding in trees, escaping from opponents high in the trees. It is considered that lynxes hunt exclusively on the ground. But as you can see from this video, a mountain river is also a suitable place. Lynx (bobcat ) eats 0.6—1.2 kg per day. Mainly hunts the American white hair, which takes up tu 97% of it the total diet. The percentage depends on the season and the number of hares. When there are not enough hares, lynxes begin to hunt ducks, grouse, partridges, squirrels, voles thereby causing serious damage to some of these bird species. Young ungulates (for example, Dall sheep, black-tailed deer, northern forest caribou) can also be a prey. In summer and autumn, the lynx often adds small mammals to its diet, in addition to the hare. Before giving birth to offspring, the lynx prepar

Last weekend, I embarked on an unforgettable hunting trip in the heart of California’s wilderness. The journey began at the crack of dawn, with the sun casting a golden hue over the sprawling landscapes of the San Bernardino National Forest. Armed with my gear and a sense of adventure, I set out to explore the rugged terrain. The forest was alive with the sounds of nature, from the rustling leaves to the distant calls of wildlife. As I trekked deeper into the woods, I encountered a variety of game, including black bears and wild pigs. The thrill of the hunt was palpable, and every moment was a testament to the beauty and challenge of the great outdoors. One of the highlights of the trip was spotting a majestic mule deer. With careful precision and respect for the animal, I took my shot. The experience was both humbling and exhilarating, reminding me of the importance of conservation and responsible hunting practices. After a successful day in the field, I set up camp under the starlit

The bobcat (Lynx rufus), also known as the red lynx, is a medium-sized cat native to North America. It ranges from southern Canada through most of the contiguous United States to Oaxaca in Mexico. It is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List since 2002, due to its wide distribution and large population. Although it has been hunted extensively both for sport and fur, populations have proven stable, though declining in some areas. It has distinctive black bars on its forelegs and a black-tipped, stubby (or "bobbed") tail, from which it derives its name. It reaches a total length (including the tail) of up to 125 cm (50 in). It is an adaptable predator inhabiting wooded areas, semidesert, urban edge, forest edge, and swampland environments. It remains in some of its original range, but populations are vulnerable to extirpation by coyotes and domestic animals. Though the bobcat prefers rabbits and hares, it hunts insects, chickens, geese and other birds, small rodents, and deer. Pre

2100 kilometers in three days, a couple late nights and busy talking to people and giving presentations at the Parkland Outdoor Show & Expo could wear a person out but the energy at this show kept us so energized. It was really humbling talking to people there that said they'd driven all the way from Manitoba or distant locations in Saskatchewan just to meet us. The only downside to to the show was that virtually everyone that we chatted with had a picture of a bigger deer on their phone than TJ has ever taken ;) It was pretty cool spending time with several of the top TV show hosts and outdoor personalities in Canada. We work in a pretty amazing industry with a bunch of amazing people. Sharing the stage with them at the Royal Rumble was pretty entertaining. Thanks to LIVE 2 HUNT with Cody and Kelsy for emceeing this question and answer session, even though he was afraid to have a push up competition. ;) And thanks to all the people that we shared a stage with. Life on the Ledge: Judging Yardage Shooting at Alaska big game presents a unique set of problems for the bowhunter. They live in such diverse terrain; they are frequently hunted in extreme weather and they vary dramatically in size from hundred-pound deer to nearly a ton of bison. And, regardless of size, habitat or weather, one of the biggest challenges of bowhunting is judging distance to the target animal. Mis-guessing the distance to the target, by only a few yards, is perhaps the most common reason archers miss game when bowhunting. Even with high tech, modern bows, there is still plenty of arc in an arrow’s flight path. Without question, the best way to judge yardage is to make use of a modern laser range finder, preferably one with angle-compensation features. However, there are many hunting scenarios when laser ranging is not practical or too time consuming. So, nothing will ever take the place of being able to accurately gauge distance by eyeballing it quickly. Learning to

These are one of the most important hunting tips for starters. Stealth and Silence Always be as quiet as you possibly can. Even the faintest twig, branch, clothing and equipment rattling will alert the animals. Dress appropriately, gear up lightly, and don’t use velcro clothing or anything that would make a lot of noise. Navigating Your Surroundings Become acquainted and scout out the hunting area. Depending on which game animals you hunt, it’s always a good idea to familiarize yourself with the perimeter, and use landmarks so you won’t get lost. Patience Goes a Long Way Many hunters don’t have the patience to acquire a clean shot. There’s a lot of waiting, but it pays off in the end when a deer appears on your scope. Persistence is key. Mind Your Scent Animals have heightened senses, and it’s a good idea to become as odorless as possible. There are many chemicals and cosmetic products that mask your scents. That means no smoking, no alcohol, and no smelly food. The wind factor is a

Deep Water Haunts Bass fishing this time of year often corresponds with deep water. In much of the country, bass move offshore and school up to chase open-water baitfish. Offshore structure and cover like river ledges, deep weed beds, rock piles, wing-dams, and deep boat docks can all be dissected with a drop-shot. It particularly excels as a clean-up hitter. Once you catch a few fish from an offshore hot-spot using traditional cranking and worm techniques, pitch a drop-shot in and see what bites. It will often surprise you. The key to this style of fishing is to get the boat near, or over your target. From there, let the bait down until it makes contact with the bottom, and begin a series of light shakes of the worm. You want the bait to move, but not the sinker. This sounds touchy, but it’s easy to get the hang of it. Most experienced drop-shot fishermen call this “shaking slack.” After a little practice, you’ll get the feel of allowing your bait to flutter and sink on a slack line,
