The early season is a great time to hunt whitetails. Food sources are plentiful, deer are unpressured and they’re on consistent patterns. The latter point is the most important because that’s what makes them the most huntable. Whitetails are repeating very similar patterns on a consistent basis. That makes them killable. What makes them unkillable? Hunting them incorrectly and in the wrong places. Here are five spots to avoid. 1. Untimely Food Sources Deer are always focused on the food. They shift as food sources change. But generally, they remain in each pattern for several days or weeks. It’s all about finding the best, freshest food source. Deer are concentrate selectors, meaning they are constantly seeking out the best food source on the landscape. Generally, these patterns vary based on geographic location and change from property to property. In one location, deer might be targeting green soybeans. On a neighboring tract, they could be hitting the first of the white oak acorns.Post: 14 October 20:15

Where to find pheasants In the afternoon, divided into pairs, pheasants feed right there near the current location, most often on sunflower and wheat crops. By the evening, about four o'clock, the males begin to call to each other again. When they meet, they fight among themselves. The current of pheasants continues until mid-June. The roosters scream especially hard after the females sit on the eggs. It happens from about the middle of May. The male does not take part in incubation, at this time he shouts intensely and runs around in search of single females. The hen lays from 10 to 15 eggs. She makes a nest somewhere in the reeds or in the thick grass under a thorny bush. After twenty-five days of incubation, in the first half of June, the chicks hatch. They emerge from eggs in thick down and with stumps, that is, contour feathers that begin to develop; they quickly grow flight feathers, and then they can escape from enemies by flying up trees. Hunting stories 3 years in the making: A bowhunt for bull elk. By WYATT O'DAY My love of bowhunting started around the age of four when my father gave me my first bow. Every night, I would go outside and shoot with him. As a kid I dreamed of the hunt and when I would finally kill my first bull elk with a bow. By the age of six, my father started taking me elk hunting with him. I watched him hunt as he called in and killed multiple bulls in front of me. Then, finally it was here — the year that I had been waiting for so long had come: the year that I was old enough to hunt! At 12 years old, I had several encounters with bulls, but was never presented a clear shot. The second year, I had a total of six nocked arrow encounters with bulls, but still no shot. Finally, the third year rolled around and at 14 years old, I was more than ready for my first bull. Day one of opening weekend On the first morning, my dad and I went to a spot that he has hunted a lot over the years and had succesPost: 10 June 15:23
