Hunting: Traditions and Benefits of Wild Meat Hunting in Russia and Belarus is not just a hobby, but an important tradition, which for many hunters becomes a way to replenish the freezer. Wild animals provide quality meat, which is difficult to compare with what is sold in supermarkets. In this article, we will discuss why hunting remains relevant and how it affects the quality of meat. Hunting in Russia and Belarus has deep roots and is part of the cultural heritage. Bergara B-14 When this rifle made a splash in America, gun-counter savants were wont to call it “the rifle the Remington 700 should have been.” Blasphemous though that may be to Remington disciples, the fact is the B-14 is an exceptional rifle and has garnered several national awards. Patterned much like the M700, it has a better extractor and bolt release. Manufactured in Bergara, Spain, the B-14 has quickly garnered a reputation for superb accuracy, thanks to the unrelenting quality of Bergara barrels. This reputation is supported by a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee. Versions range from true mountain rifles to heavy, configurable PRS competition guns. There’s even a B-14 R rimfire PRS-type training rifle. The $865 B-14 Ridge model shown here won the NRA Golden Bullseye Best Rifle award in 2018. It has a threaded muzzle, a composite stock with soft-touch finish, and integral epoxy-pillar bedding. It’s an excellent all-around hunting rifle that won’t let you down..

Hardware: Browning A5 Wicked Wing Sweet Sixteen A legendary early 20th century shotgun, the 16-gauge dropped off the map in 1989 when skeet shooting rules were finalized by the newly formed National Sporting Clays Association, and the gauge didn’t make the cut. As much as field shooters favored the shotgun’s lightweight, functional, easy-on-the-shoulder nature, skeet shooters press the trigger more than upland and waterfowl hunters combined, and ammo manufacturers couldn’t justify the cost of production. Browning A5 Wicked Wing Sweet Sixteen Semi Automatic Shotgun. Today, however, this near-perfect gauge is making a remarkable comeback. Why? Efficiency. Not only do 16-gauge loads hit with a wallop, especially with modern-day tungsten and bismuth, the guns are simply a joy to tote. Weighing less than most 12-gauge options and comparable to 20-gauge models, a quality 16-gauge makes a tremendous all-day field gun for any shooter. I’m a Browning fan, and my 12-gauge A5 has been my wa

Olympus 10x50 DPSI Binoculars Review As an avid birdwatcher and outdoor enthusiast, I’ve had the chance to use the Olympus 10x50 DPSI binoculars extensively over the last few months. Here’s a detailed review highlighting the pros and cons of this product. Olympus Pros: Excellent Optics: The 10x magnification combined with a 50mm objective lens provides a brilliant and bright image, even in low-light conditions. The clarity and sharpness are impressive, allowing me to see fine details, which is essential for birdwatching. Wide Field of View: With a field of view of 6.5 degrees, these binoculars allow you to easily track moving subjects. This feature is particularly beneficial for observing birds in flight or during active behavior. Comfortable Grip: The design is user-friendly with a rubberized coating that provides a secure grip. This is especially useful during longer observation sessions when your hands might get tired, ensuring that the binoculars stay comfortably in hand.

Creating a Tribal Restoration Workforce The rain slowly fell on a cool May morning as a small crowd of people gathered in a pullout alongside an old logging road in Ketchikan. The blend of official U.S. Forest Service vehicles and uniforms intermixed with private vehicles and casual clothes gave a clue to the diversity of people in attendance. The crowd was comprised of varied backgrounds and employers. Tribal members, hydrologists, fisheries biologists, chainsaw crews, and various staff were all there for one thing: to teach and learn the skills necessary to restore streams and improve fish habitat in the Tongass National Forest. In the summer of 2021, the Forest Service announced their plan to move away from large scale, old-growth logging in the Tongass and instead invest in restoration, recreation, and forest resilience. This new strategy is welcome news on the Tongass, which is part of the largest intact temperate rainforest on the planet, and the robust tourism economy and subs

25 Tips for Dove Hunters 1. Pick the Right Gun Dove hunting is supposed to be fun, and if you enjoy shooting family heirlooms or featherlight .410s at doves, who am I to tell you not to? But if your idea of fun is hitting more doves, choose a 12- or 20-gauge with some heft and at least a 28-inch barrel. A longer, heavier gun swings smoothly, points surely and soaks up recoil. The best dove shooting I did this past year was with a 12-gauge sporting clays gun. 2. Stock Up On Shells Ammunition is available again, and there’s no reason to run out opening day, which I have actually done. Begging shells from people in the field is just embarrassing. Field or target loads of Nos. 7½ or 8 lead or 6 or 7 steel work. Steel loads kill fine, by the way. Lighter loads, with less shot and lower velocities, kick a lot less than heavy, high-speed stuff, and you will shoot a lot in no more padding than a T-shirt. Be sure your ammo will cycle your semi-auto, but other than that, lighter is better. 3.

Stylish Home Interiors Featuring Hunting Trophies: Bears, Foxes, Deer, and Iconic African Wildlife Transforming your home into a stylish haven can take on a unique twist when you incorporate hunting trophies. Character pieces like bears, foxes, deer, and famous African animals can add a striking visual element while paying homage to nature and the art of wildlife conservation. First, consider the placement of your trophies. A grand bear mount above a stone fireplace can create a bold centerpiece, making the living room feel both rustic and luxurious. Surround it with a palette of warm browns, deep greens, and soft neutrals to enhance the natural aesthetic. You might also think about introducing a variety of textures through rustic wooden furniture and soft fabrics, like leather or wool, to create a cozy atmosphere. In a more eclectic setting, fox mounts can add a whimsical touch. Their playful nature can shine through when displayed alongside vintage hunting gear or framed wildlife

The English Setter: A Gentleman's Gun Dog – History, Hunting Prowess, and Care The English Setter, often dubbed a "gentleman's gun dog," is more than just a pretty face in the field. These dogs are tireless workers with a keen nose, bred for centuries to find and point game birds. If you're considering an English Setter for hunting, here's what you need to know. A Breed Steeped in History and Purpose The English Setter's roots trace back to 14th-century Europe, with origins in spaniel-type dogs. Selective breeding in England throughout the 1800s by dedicated sportsmen like Edward Laverack and Purcell Llewellin refined the breed into the elegant, skilled pointer we know today. Laverack focused on beauty and temperament, while Llewellin prioritized field performance. These early bloodlines laid the foundation for the modern English Setter. Key Fact: English Setters were developed specifically to locate game birds, "set" (crouch or lie down) in front of them, and allow the hunter to a

Wisconsin deer hunt's underwhelming opening weekend blamed on warm weather, lack of snow Over 11,000 fewer deer killed in WI this year compared to 2022 A lack of snow and warm temperatures that suppressed deer movement led to a lackluster opening weekend of Wisconsin's nine-day gun season, with hunters killing thousands fewer deer than last year. The state Department of Natural Resources released preliminary data Tuesday that showed hunters registered 92,050 deer compared with 103,623 deer last year. That's a 16% drop-off from 2022 and 10% fewer deer than the five-year average for opening weekend. Hunters also registered 51,870 bucks, down 13% from 56,638 over opening weekend in 2022. The number of potential hunters didn't vary much from last year, however. The DNR reported that sales of all deer licenses stood at 774,369 as of midnight Sunday, with 421,525 of those licenses exclusively for gun use. Overall, sales of all deer licenses were down 0.61% from the same time last year. W

Cold and Snowy Conditions to Greet Wisconsin Deer Hunters Hunters couldn't ask for better conditions when Wisconsin's annual nine-day gun deer season opens Saturday. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Hunters can expect near-perfect conditions when Wisconsin's annual nine-day gun deer season opens Saturday. Wisconsin Public Radio reported Thursday that temperatures in the 20s and 30s will allow hunters to sit in one area comfortably if they choose and snow-covered ground will make deer more visible and easier to track. The only issue could be wind, which could affect deer movement and make things tougher for hunters, said Jeff Pritzl, state Department of Natural Resources deer program specialist. DNR officials told WPR that they expect to sell about 550,000 licenses this year. The agency sold 564,440 licenses last year. License sales have been trending down for more than 20 years, slipping about 1.5% annually since 2000 as older hunters age out of the sport faster than young people are taking

Two Idaho wolves kill 143 sheep in freak "pile up" Two wolves are responsible for the deaths of 143 sheep in Idaho’s Boise Foothills. The “pile-up” occurred in mid-May and, following an investigation conducted by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) and Wildlife Services, officials determined that two wolves “caused the sheep to flee in panic,” which caused them to “crush or suffocate each other” as they tried to escape, according to a press release. During the investigation, Wildlife Services discovered two sets of wolf tracks in the same location as the incident. While permission was given to remove the problem wolves if found, officials were unable to locate the animals. “This sadly exemplifies why wolf management in Idaho can be so challenging,” said IDFG Director Ed Schriever. “People cherish the Foothills for its diversity of wildlife, along with the opportunities for grazing, recreation and other activities. In this instance, a pair of wolves caused a significant loss

After my weekend training in Moscow shooting club, I remembered an outstanding meeting. It took place last September at the ADIHEX 2024, Abu Dhabi hunting exhibition. On a photo one of the fastest shooters on the planet, Raniero Testa. He had already set several world records and continues to surprise with new ones. Only after trying yourself in some kind of sport or art, you can really understand how difficult it is. What kind of effort and dedication does it take to become the best in what you do. I have great respect for all real professionals regardless of the type of activity. Raniero Testa (Italy) holds the record by throwing 17 sports clay targets with his hands and smashing them with 17 shots. And that's not all: the clay targets were hit in a record time of 2.08 seconds. If you count it, it turns out that the combined Raniero/Winchester SX4 produced a rate of fire of 490 rounds per minute – higher than the rate of fire of the M3 “Grease Gun" submachine gun!!
