Brno ZH 304 12/7x57R: A Practical Hunter's Tool With Quirks My honest take on the Brno ZH 304 12/7x57R, based on my own experience as a hunter and gun enthusiast. Forget the marketing fluff, this is real-world feedback. The Brno ZH 304. It's a name that conjures up images of tough Eastern European hunters, thick forests, and game taken with precision. This combination gun/double rifle has a certain appeal, a no-nonsense functionality that attracts those who value practicality over flashy aesthetics. I've owned and used one for several seasons, primarily for driven hunts and pursuing boar in close cover, and I've developed a complex relationship with it. The Good: Versatility: This is the ZH 304's biggest selling point. The combination of a 12-gauge shotgun barrel and a 7x57R rifle barrel makes it adaptable to a wide range of hunting situations. “Ever since I was a kid, an Alaskan moose hunt has been at the top of my list. And, this season, it was finally here. We were dropped deep into in the Brooks Range and quickly found ourselves chasing rutting bulls through the tundra swamps, tussocks, and ridge lines. After about a week and a handful of incredible encounters, we were hit with a days-long September snow storm. The sudden weather shift also called for a change in our tactics; we began to hunt bull moose more like a Midwest whitetail. Setting up along an obvious trail—that move proved to be the best decision we made on the entire trip. As we waited to fly the meat out, we glassed up a large grizzly—a bonus opportunity after an already successful hunt. We put a plan for a stalk in place and with luck still on our side, it all came together. There are no words to describe a hunt like this other than, once-in-a-lifetime.” - Mathews own’ Jeff Ozanne #MathewsLIFTX #mathews

There's magic in the air. The first frosts of the year greet us each morning, and the tops of the highest peaks are dusted with snow. The colours are changing, and the Yukon's landscape is something to behold. It's moose hunting season, and I'm excited. What you'll see in these images is how tall the buckbrush in the valley is. You will have a few challenges if you want to stand in here and hunt moose. If you're lucky, the brush will make it impossible to see any bulls or cows further than a few hundred yards. Taking a shot? It's almost impossible unless the bull comes in hot to your call. I much prefer getting up on the hillsides around the valley where I can call effectively and glass massive areas. You can see one image of my father with the bull he shot. While we were down in the valley, we found a small hill to shoot from, and it gave use a fantastic shooting angle above the brush.

First Look: Garmin Xero A1i Pro Bow Sight Are you ready to take the next step in archery technology? Technological advancements in the hunting world continue to make hunters more successful. Jack O’Connor felt that one of the most significant advancements to hunting was the modern riflescope. It would be interesting to hear what Mr. O’Connor would have to say today about modern optics. The optics community has snowballed and includes all aspects of the archery world. Fred Bear shot a 65-pound recurve bow, inspiring generations of archers to take up the sport. Bear’s early videos made hunting with a bow adventurous and appealing. Many archers still embrace the basics and shoot instinctively. However, there are modern advancements that allow archers to be more successful. The advent of the compound bow was a huge step. Moving from brass pins to fiber-optic sights showed a clear advantage—carbon arrows overtook the established aluminum arrow market. Speed ratings for bows continue to c

"Norway - 'King of the Forest' is Causing a Stir" The moose is called the "king of the forest". There are good reasons for that, it is Norway's largest mammal on land. "I have never seen anything like it, and I have seen many animals throughout my photography career, says photographer Thomas Mørch." He is talking about the spotted elk that walks around Hallingdal. A few years ago Albin the albino moose became such a big celebrity that the hunting teams protected him. A white national treasure, which was felled by a Danish hunter in 2011 who had not caught the "protection". Now the forest has a new moose that stands out.
