My beloved pony of 10 years is 25 this year and has been having some physical changes recently: new dx of Cushing's, EMS, IR and laminitis. (We have a specialist vet and farrier on our team.) I have been spending lots of time on the ground with her and going on walks together, and I want to learn something new with her to keep her mind engaged and strengthen our bond. I'm not sure if/when I will be able to ride her again but I want to keep her life enriched as long as she can move around and is not in pain. I'd love some liberty lessons and connections to any resources (clinics, books, online programs, facebook groups, etc) to learn about this type of horsemanship. I am located in Santa Rosa, CA if you know of any trainers in that area. Please message me or comment here incase this post can help any other beginners! Thank you, have a beautiful day 🙂

Hunting for a Hare with a Dog: A Day in the Field with ROS the Spaniel Today, my red spaniel ROS showed exceptional skill in tracking a wounded hare. He picked up the scent of the injured animal, chased it down with determination, and finished the job with a clear voice. The emotions I’m feeling right now are overwhelming - not because of the hunt itself, but because of the dog’s incredible work. Thanks to ROS, there’s no wounded animal left suffering in the field. I’m sure many hunters will understand this feeling. While there are breeds that might perform this task even more spectacularly, ROS is my dog, and this was only his second time hunting hare. It’s all part of his training, and I’m proud to share how it went. Here’s how it unfolded: We entered a thicket and emerged into a small clearing. I spotted a hare running along the edge of the field, clearly flushed out by hunters who had gone further ahead. I took a couple of shots through the tall grass, but ROS didn’t see t

Second, your weapon will determine your season, which also determines your experience. It is nearly universal, for example, that archery season for big game happens in September because it coincides with the elk rut (mating season). Hunting during the elk rut is a uniquely powerful experience. During this time, bull elk vie for the attention of cows, piercing the mountain air with their signature bugles, grunts, chuckles, and screams. The ability to hear the animals and understand their intent, and engage in vocal communication with a 600-pound king of the forest, is one of the most intense, thrilling, and addictive elements of archery hunting. Elk language is nuanced and laden with information. As a bowhunter your goal is to paint a picture in the animal’s mind with the timing, location, tone, and intensity of your vocalization. In one situation you might imitate a cow elk looking for love, while in another you might communicate to a bull that you’re a bigger bull ready to rumble. (If

Henry X Models: The Wait is Finally Over The Henry X Models Have Arrived The concept for the Henry X Model series began at the 2018 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Dallas, Texas where a blacked-out .45-70 rifle and .410 bore shotgun were put on display to gauge everyone’s reaction to this departure from Henry’s usual blued-steel or brass receivers and American walnut furniture. Suffice it to say that the response among showgoers was positive, but little did they know that Henry Repeating Arms had more up their sleeves. With the release of Henry’s first rifle to feature a side loading gate looming in production behind closed doors, the vision for the production version of the Henry X Model became clearer. In January of 2020, Henry Repeating Arms announced the X Model Series to the world in Las Vegas at the SHOT Show. With no booth on the show floor, Henry dropped the news with a Lever Action X Model .45-70 at Federal Premium’s booth alongside a new line of ammunition called HammerDo
