Horns? Or feathers? The great horned owl gets its name from the tufts of feathers on its head that look like ears. But the owl's ears are really farther down on the side of its head, and are just openings in the skull hidden beneath feathers. Its large eyes let it see in almost complete darkness, and if there is no light at all, its excellent hearing helps it hunt by sound. Owls are stealth hunters; they can easily sneak up on their prey since their fluffy feathers give them almost silent flight. When it finds prey, it dives and snatches it with its long, sharp talons. Great horned owls are very strong and can carry animals several times heavier than themselves! Post: 4 October 18:18

Winchester Vulkan SXR Semi-Automatic Rifle, 30-06 Caliber, 650mm Barrel Review As an avid shooter and hunter, I had the opportunity to test the Winchester Vulkan SXR semi-automatic rifle in 30-06 caliber, with a 650mm barrel, and I would like to share my thoughts on its performance, features, and overall value. Pros: Reliability: The Vulkan SXR has shown great reliability during my testing. The semi-automatic action cycles smoothly, and I experienced no jams or misfeeds, even with various types of ammunition. This is critical for any hunt, where a second shot may be necessary. Yakut moose is now even more accessible To receive the 🏆 "Russian Super Cup" prize in the KGO, a Yakut moose trophy must be harvested. And in general, the trophy will be of interest to all collectors. The Yakut moose 🫎 in the shape and size of its antlers is more similar to a large European moose, good specimens of which have been successfully harvested in the Chelyabinsk region in recent years. In a very frosty climate of -50 and with poor nutrition, the antlers of the "Yakuts" never reach the size of the Chukchi ones. When serious frosts come, the moose goes out into open spaces and starts moving so as not to freeze. Therefore, in Yakutia, local hunters prefer to go moose when the cold weather begins 🥶 from -40 ° C. 🗓 Hunting season: from September to January. ℹ️ Individual hunting or up to 2 people in a group. Each hunter is provided with personal transport, a driver and a guide. The cost of 3 days of hunting, including 1 Yakut moose trophy, is 700,000 rubles. For detailPost: 13 February 09:11

How to Hunt Africa on a Budget Chances Are You Can Do It Cheaper Than a Premium Elk Hunt My palms hurt and my knees were bloody from crawling over rocks. My legs ached. My lungs were threatening to quit on me if I had to climb one more mountain chasing a herd that was skittish to the point of paranoia. The guide and I had pursued them up and over so many mountains and glassed them from so many hidden vantage points that I had no idea how much territory we had covered or how we’d ever find our way back to the truck. When the shot opportunity finally came, it was a long one — 320 yards from our spot on a hill to where the bull was feeding on the opposite ridge. “Hold a foot high,” the guide said, and that turned out to be dead accurate. The cows scattered in a panic at the blast, and not long afterward we were standing over a mature bull I had worked harder for than any animal I’ve taken before or since. Sounds like a fairly typical elk hunt, right? Except it wasn’t an elk and I wasn’tPost: 2 August 21:58

PREDATOR HUNTING—HOW TO GET STARTED THE EASY WAY CLASSIC COYOTE SETUPS There are three basic types of coyote hunts: A silent stand in which you post up and hope to shoot coyotes passing by. A calling stand in which you hunker down and call coyotes into gun range; What I call a “run-and-gun hunt” in which you drive rural roads and stop periodically to call, then set up when you get a response. 1. SILENT STANDS Looking at the silent stand, your standard deer-season treestand or ground blind can work beautifully, especially if it is situated between deer feeding and bedding areas. Those are the same habitats that coyotes work, so as long as the wind is favorable—that is, blowing away from where you expect to see coyotes—then you should expect a shot. This silent-stand hunting is not a numbers game. You are relying on a dog to simply show itself, and if you shoot, or do anything to alert animals that you’re in the area, then you might be in for a long, slow day. But you can make goodPost: 12 December 17:50

The Roadless Rule in the Tongass National Forest is Vital for Both Hunters and Brown Bears There’s a long history of Alaskan hunting guides stepping up to protect the Tongass. In the mid-1980s an old, dying bear hunter named Ralph Young sat in the back of a skiff, squinting through the rain at the ocean and mountains of Southeast Alaska. In the bow, huddled against the wind and rain, sat a teenager named Klas Stolpe. The two would be out for a month or two, until most of the salmon had spawned and the bears had left the streams for the high country. The old man didn’t especially enjoy the kid’s company but, due his to declining health and old age, he needed his help for basic things like getting in and out of the boat. They motored past once pristine bays, where years ago the old man guided legendary hunters like Warren Page and Jack O’Connor. Now, those lands were clear-cut logged. The lion (Panthera leo) is a large cat of the genus Panthera native to Africa and India. It has a muscular, broad-chested body; short, rounded head; round ears; and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail. It is sexually dimorphic; adult male lions are larger than females and have a prominent mane. It is a social species, forming groups called prides. A lion's pride consists of a few adult males, related females, and cubs. Groups of female lions usually hunt together, preying mostly on large ungulates. The lion is an apex and keystone predator; although some lions scavenge when opportunities occur and have been known to hunt humans, lions typically do not actively seek out and prey on humans.Post: 4 June 22:52
