‘Field and Stream’ has been the preeminent American outdoors publication for over a century with a current monthly circulation exceeding 1,000,000. It was the outgrowth of a periodical entitled ‘Northwestern Field and Stream’ which was first published in St Paul Minnesota in 1895. A year later, John P Burkhard acquired this publication, renamed it, and dubbed it “A Journal for the True Sportsman”. As his first editor, Burkhard hired Charles Hallock, stealing him away from ‘Forest and Stream’, the leading outdoor magazine of the time which had been published regularly since 1873 but was eventually absorbed in 1930 by the increasingly popular ‘Field and Stream’. Hunting, fishing and camping were, and continue to be, the strongest focuses of the magazine. There have been more than 150 covers depicting the various forms of fishing, and many are specifically about fly fishing. Angling is a fishing technique that uses a fish hook or "angle" (from Old English angol) attached to a fishing line to tether individual fish in the mouth. The fishing line is usually manipulated via a fishing rod, although rodless techniques such as handlining and longlining also exist. Modern angling rods are usually fitted with a reel that functions as a cranking device for storing, retrieving and releasing out the line, although Tenkara fishing and cane pole fishing are two rod-angling methods that do not use any reel. The hook itself can be additionally weighted with a dense tackle called a sinker, and is typically dressed with an appetizing bait to attract the fish and enticing it into swallowing the hook, but sometimes an inedible fake bait with multiple attached hooks (known as a lure) is used instead of a single hook with edible bait. A bite indicator, such as a float or a quiver tip, is often used to relay underwater status of the hook to the surface.

Living in Alaska, another part of our efforts to be self-sufficient is living off the land as much as possible. “Filling your freezer” is a common phrase here, and there are a lot of ways to do it. Many of you know there are still a lot of places in the U.S. where we can still do this. We’re blessed to be able to fish in rivers, lakes and the ocean, and hunt for a variety of wild game. We do have a little advantage up here for that, (but we also pay a bit of a price for it). Besides fishing and hunting, there a lot of foraging opportunities as well, mostly in the summer, but some when it’s cold and dark too. Hunting and fishing is huge up here, and a lot of folks live here just for that. There are lots more things you can do besides these examples. Hunting in SIDI BOUZID: Terrain and Ecological Features, Hunter Demographics and Participation in Tunisia (PART II) Hunting Organizations and Local Clubs While Sidi Bouzid does not have a large number of formal hunting clubs, there are smaller, informal groups dedicated to managing hunting activities and maintaining relationships with local authorities. These groups play a vital role in ensuring that hunting remains sustainable and within legal boundaries. Local hunters often gather in community-based organizations where they can share hunting tips, organize group hunts, and discuss seasonal trends. Although these clubs may not be as well-established as in urban centers, they are essential in preserving hunting traditions and promoting responsible practices. These local networks also help maintain access to private lands, a key factor in securing hunting grounds in the region. Hunting Regulations and Legal Framework The national Forestry Code governs all hunting activities in Tunis

Unsustainable Logging, Fishing, Hunting Are the Main Factors of Extinction Crisis An unprecedented global extinction crisis is now threatening our planet. More than a million species are expected to go extinct in the next few decades, according to scientists. A groundbreaking analysis found that one in five people worldwide depends on wild animals, plants, and fungi for their food and means of subsistence. However, the report found that many undomesticated animals are not being collected responsibly, endangering global food security. Experts predicted that one million species of animals and plants could become extinct in the ensuing decades in 2019, and uncontrolled fishing, hunting, and logging are responsible for a large portion of this, as per BBC News. The sustainable usage of wild species is now deemed essential for both people and nature in a new report by the same organization. Additionally, more species may be pushed to the limit because of climate change and rising deman
