The guide staff at the Flying B Ranch toyed with the idea of a wingshooting guide school for several years before launching the inaugural program in 2019. Such training had existed for some time in the fishing and big-game disciplines, but the unique skills required by bird guides were generally learned and refined on the job. The staff at the Flying B saw an opportunity to streamline the learning process and leverage the intellectual property they’d accumulated over decades. Namibie vedle slonů plánuje odstřelit 30 hrochů, 60 buvolů, 50 antilop impala, 100 pakoňů žíhaných, 300 zeber a 100 antilop losích. Profesionál

New ‘snug,’ a snail with a too-small shell, described from Brunei rainforest A group of researchers and citizen-scientists have identified a new semi-slug species, Microparmarion sallehi, from the lowland rainforests of northern Borneo Island. Their study suggests there may be some half a dozen other species from the same genus waiting to be described, highlighting the rich biodiversity of this region. For this description, the local and international scientists involved students and laypersons in the team on a combined program of biodiversity training and exploration. The study authors note that scientific knowledge of Southeast Asian slugs in general is lacking due to low collection samples, meaning the prospects for describing a new species is high. JAKARTA — A group of researchers and citizen-scientists have described a new “semi-slug” species from the lowland rainforests of northern Borneo. Cold and Snowy Conditions to Greet Wisconsin Deer Hunters Hunters couldn't ask for better conditions when Wisconsin's annual nine-day gun deer season opens Saturday. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Hunters can expect near-perfect conditions when Wisconsin's annual nine-day gun deer season opens Saturday. Wisconsin Public Radio reported Thursday that temperatures in the 20s and 30s will allow hunters to sit in one area comfortably if they choose and snow-covered ground will make deer more visible and easier to track. The only issue could be wind, which could affect deer movement and make things tougher for hunters, said Jeff Pritzl, state Department of Natural Resources deer program specialist. DNR officials told WPR that they expect to sell about 550,000 licenses this year. The agency sold 564,440 licenses last year. License sales have been trending down for more than 20 years, slipping about 1.5% annually since 2000 as older hunters age out of the sport faster than young people are taking

Grand Canyon Won't Seek Volunteers to Kill Bison This Fall Grand Canyon National Park has decided not to extend a pilot project this fall that used volunteers to kill bison to downsize the herd. FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — A bison herd that lives almost exclusively in the northern reaches of Grand Canyon National Park won't be targeted for lethal removal there this fall. The park used skilled volunteers selected through a highly competitive and controversial lottery last year to kill bison, part of a toolset to downsize the herd that's been trampling meadows and archaeological sites on the canyon's North Rim. Introducing the sound of gunfire and having people close to the bison was meant to nudge the massive animals back to the adjacent forest where they legally could be hunted. But the efforts had little effect. “They just kind of moved a bit from where the activity occurred, and sometimes they'd come back the next day,” said Grand Canyon wildfire program manager Greg Holm. Rewilding: Jaguars return to Argentina’s wetlands 70 years after local extinction Rewilding efforts are returning jaguars, the largest predator in South America, to areas where the species has been driven to local extinction due to hunting and habitat loss. In Argentina, just 200 Jaguars remain, but a reintroduction programme has returned a mother and two cubs to the country’s Iberá wetlands, 70 years after the species was last observed in the region. They are the first of nine jaguars which will be released to repopulate the wetlands, which are a protected area covering almost 700,000 hectares and offering an abundance of wild prey for the big cats. Jaguars are a “keystone species” - an organism vital for the continuation of the local ecosystem - as they control levels of prey which would otherwise overgraze habitats, reducing biodiversity. It is hoped their presence will help wildlife in the wetlands flourish. The adult jaguar, named Mariua by researchers, was born wild before b

Journey to summer south of the Equator (during winter in the U.S.) for diverse trout fishing in a beautiful, serene, and welcoming country. Chile has mountain peaks higher than the Rockies as well as plant and animal species found nowhere else on the planet, which makes it both different and special. Chile is renowned for its beauty and natural resources. In fact, in the 1920s the country put into operation one of the finest national park systems in the world. If you’re really thirsting for adventure, you can visit our Argentine lodges in the same trip—no flights required, just a beautiful drive over the Andes. Our Chilean program offers a truly unique opportunity to hunt for the enormous Red Stag that roam this part of the Central Valley of Chile. The area combines abundant food, great cover and more than 80 years of selective herd management, producing some of the biggest wild stags in the world. Idaho reports "slightly above average" survival rates in mule deer and elk In Idaho, mule deer fawn and elk calf survival rates were up, following the latest data collected from animals outfitted with tracking collars. To date, 84% of fawns and 92% of calves have survived through the end of winter, putting their statewide winter survival rate “slightly above average,” according to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG). “From a statewide perspective, winter survival is tracking very close to what we saw in past two years,” said Toby Boudreau, IDFG deer and elk program coordinator. “If we continue on that trajectory, that's good news because we ended up with above-average winter survival in both 2019-20 and 2020-21. And every mild winter we can stack together is another step in the right direction for our mule deer herds.” Currently, there are 222 mule deer fawns and 201 elk calves outfitted with tracking collars. Even though the winter weather may be behind them, biologist c

Zjistili to odborníci při tvorbě plemenné knihy tohoto jelena, jejímž vydáním Světová asociace zoologických zahrad a akvárií pověřila Zoologickou zahradu Olomouc. V roce 2015 ji převzala ostravská zoo a loni přešla do Olomouce. Posled

My beloved pony of 10 years is 25 this year and has been having some physical changes recently: new dx of Cushing's, EMS, IR and laminitis. (We have a specialist vet and farrier on our team.) I have been spending lots of time on the ground with her and going on walks together, and I want to learn something new with her to keep her mind engaged and strengthen our bond. I'm not sure if/when I will be able to ride her again but I want to keep her life enriched as long as she can move around and is not in pain. I'd love some liberty lessons and connections to any resources (clinics, books, online programs, facebook groups, etc) to learn about this type of horsemanship. I am located in Santa Rosa, CA if you know of any trainers in that area. Please message me or comment here incase this post can help any other beginners! Thank you, have a beautiful day 🙂
