Legal framework and rules for hunting
Ohangwena's hunting landscape operates within Namibia's strict legal framework, designed to ensure sustainable wildlife management. All hunters must obtain permits for specific species, with annual quotas carefully determined through scientific population studies. Foreign visitors are required to hunt under the guidance of licensed Professional Hunters (PHs), who ensure compliance with regulations while providing expert knowledge of the area. A portion of hunting license fees directly funds conservation efforts and community development projects, creating a vital link between ethical hunting and local welfare. Strict prohibitions against poaching, unlicensed hunting, and targeting endangered species are enforced through heavy fines and potential imprisonment, maintaining ecological bala

The list of great places for a joint or family trip continues with the undeservedly pushed aside 🇧🇼Botswana. You should definitely consider visiting this beautiful country in the near future!

2️⃣ You do not need a visa to Botswana.
3️⃣ The weather in April-May is still remarkably warm, there is a lot of game and enough entertainment for several days in a row!

Beretta AL391 Urika 2 (12 Gauge) - A Hunter's review
I've owned and hunted with a Beretta AL391 Urika 2 for a good number of years now. It was my go-to semi-auto for everything from waterfowl to upland birds, and even the occasional sporting clays outing. I've put it through its paces in all sorts of conditions – rain, snow, heat, dust – and have a pretty solid understanding of its strengths and weaknesses.
The Good Stuff Beretta AL391 Urika 2 12-gauge:
Shooting Comfort: This is where the Urika 2 truly shines. The gas-operated system does a fantastic job of soaking up recoil. Even with heavier magnum loads, it's surprisingly manageable, which translates to less fatigue during long days in the field and faster follow-up shots. Compared to inertia-driven guns, it's noticeably softer on the shoulder.
Reliability (Mostly): When clean and properly maintained, the Urika 2 is generally reliable. It'll cycle a wide range of loads, from light target rounds to heavier hunting loads, without
Browning X-Bolt chambered in .30-06 review
Alright, here's a breakdown of my experience with a Browning X-Bolt chambered in .30-06, particularly focusing on the upgrades of an aluminum bedding block and a Mastergun stock. I'm coming at this from the perspective of someone who hunts regularly and tinkers with their rifles quite a bit.
Overall Impression Browning X-Bolt:
The X-Bolt, out of the box, is a solid hunting rifle. Reliable, accurate enough for most hunting situations, and relatively lightweight. However, like most factory rifles, it has room for improvement, particularly in terms of consistency and feel. That's where the bedding block and the Mastergun stock came in.
Browning X-Bolt (Base Rifle):
Pros:
Smooth Bolt Action: The 60-degree bolt lift is quick and easy, especially when you need a fast follow-up shot. It's definitely a step up from some of the more clunky bolt actions out there.
Lightweight Browning X-Bolt: Carrying this rifle through the woods all day is ma
Review of Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 Scope
As an avid hunter with years of experience, I was eager to try out the Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 scope on my recent hunting trip. Having heard a mix of reviews regarding this scope, I approached it with cautious optimism. Here are my thoughts after using it in the field.
Build Quality and Design:
The first thing that struck me about the Japan Optics Superb 1-4x24 was its robust construction. The scope feels solid in hand, and the matte black finish not only looks sleek but also helps reduce glare, which is essential when hunting. It easily fits onto my rifle, and the mounting process was straightforward. The eyepiece provides a comfortable and clear sight picture, and the low-light performance is impressive for dawn and dusk hunting.
Optical Clarity:
One of the standout features of this scope is its optics. The clarity of the lenses is phenomenal, with bright, vivid images. At 1x magnification, it offers a wide field of view, making it e
Honest Review of the ATN HD MARS 4.5-18 Thermal Scope from a Hunter's Perspective
As an avid hunter who has used the ATN HD MARS 4.5-18 thermal scope on multiple hunts, including deer, I can confidently say that this optic is a game-changer in many ways, but it’s not without its flaws. Here’s my detailed take on this thermal scope, based on real-world experience in the field.
Pros:
Exceptional Image Quality:
The HD MARS 4.5-18 delivers crisp, clear thermal imaging, even in complete darkness or dense fog. The 1280x720 resolution is a standout feature, allowing me to spot deer and other game at impressive distances. The 4.5-18x magnification range is versatile, making it suitable for both close-range and long-range hunting.
Durability and Build Quality:
This scope is built like a tank. It’s waterproof, shockproof, and has handled rough terrain, rain, and freezing temperatures without a hitch. I’ve taken it on hunts in harsh conditions, and it’s never let me down.

Leupold LTO Tracer Pocket Thermal Imager Review
I recently had the opportunity to test out the Leupold LTO Tracer Pocket Thermal Imager, and I must say, my experience with it has been largely positive. As a hunting enthusiast and outdoor adventurer, I've used various thermal imagers before, and the LTO Tracer brings some unique features to the table that impressed me.
Build Quality and Design:
The first thing that stands out about the LTO Tracer is its compact design. It fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, making it incredibly portable for those long treks in the wilderness. Weighing in at just around 8 ounces, it’s lightweight enough that it won’t weigh you down. The build quality is robust, feeling durable yet elegant, which is what I expect from a brand like Leupold. The materials used seem resistant to wear and tear, and the rubberized exterior offers a solid grip, even in wet conditions.
Image Quality:
The thermal resolution of 160 x 120 pixels provides a decent level
Heavy bodied and long-legged, with a drooping nose, moose (Alces alces) are the largest members of the deer family. They range in color from golden brown to almost black, depending upon the season and the age of the animal. Full-grown males (bulls) stand almost 6 ft (1.8 m) tall at the shoulder, and males in prime condition weigh from 1,200 to 1,600 lbs (542 –725 kg). Adult females are somewhat smaller and weigh 800 to 1,300 lbs (364 – 591 kg). A 1,600-lb (726-kg) moose will dress out at about 950 lbs (431 kg), yielding approximately 500 lbs (227 kg) of meat. Alaskans and nonresidents annually harvest 6,000 to 8,000 moose, which translates into about 3.5 million pounds of usable meat.
Only bull moose have antlers. The largest moose antlers in North America come from Alaska, the Yukon Territory, and the Northwest Territories of Canada. Trophy class bulls are found throughout Alaska, but the largest come from the western portion of the state. Moose occasionally produce trophy-size antle
Review of the Tikka T3 Lite Battue .308 Win
I recently had the opportunity to test the Tikka T3 Lite Battue in .308 Win, and I wanted to share my honest thoughts on this rifle.
First off, the build quality of the Tikka T3 Lite is impressive. It feels solid in hand, and the polymer stock keeps it lightweight, which is a significant advantage for long days in the field. The design is sleek and modern, and I appreciate the attention to detail in the craftsmanship. The rifle is well-balanced, making it easy to handle, whether you're walking through dense brush or navigating uneven terrain.
The .308 Win chambering is a classic choice, and this rifle handles it beautifully. The recoil is manageable, even for a lightweight model, thanks to the effective muzzle brake. I was also pleased with the accuracy; even at longer ranges, the T3 Lite consistently delivered tight groups. The cold hammer-forged barrel is a standout feature, ensuring durability and precision over time.
The trigger is an
Farewell to My Beloved Gitane – 13 Incredible Years
Au revoir ma belle Gitane, my first draht, and a dog with an exceptional passion. For 13 years, you showed an incredible spirit and strength. Whether pulling a wild boar from a thicket or catching it minutes later in a pond in the middle of the plains, your power and persistence never failed. In the same day, you'd point out woodcocks, and I might have missed them, but you were always spot on.
You've endured so much, with countless staples because nothing could stop your sheer will. You've also left behind a legacy, producing amazing dogs with Clint du Moulin de Berlemont: Jasper, Lacoste, Laïka, Lisière, N'Gumper, Nestor, and Oural. You were so full of trust, even staying loose in the back of the pickup truck on the highway, heading to Aisne for breeding.
You truly earned your honors, my old Gitane. Your legacy lives on in every hunt, every memory, and every pup you've brought into this world.

🇺🇸 An epic hunt that gave us the opportunity to explore some incredible and untouched areas, where we found not only plenty of Marals, but an adventure like no other. Not every day one gets the privilege of hunting on these beautiful mountains surrounded by wolves, bears, ibex, and wild boars amongst other creatures. This majestic and huge bull was spotted on our first hunting day, and from that moment we knew he was the one we wanted, which somehow, made our adventure even more special. Trophy aside, the way this Maral patrolled his area was a clear sign of dominance and no other bull dared to confront him during the 3 days we tried to cut distance with him. Regarding the trophy, the weight of the antlers -despite having to wait for the skull to dry out completely, where the expected weight loss could be up to 2 kg- proves this will clearly be the biggest Maral harvested in the area this year. Luck is an important factor, but without attitude and resilience, none of this would have
