I have posted this painting before, but it is the last Tuesday in January and The Scarteen Black and Tans meet at Emly as they have for season after timeless season. The country depicted here is crossed from this iconic meet. Emly is a beautiful town, and today the clock will stop at 10.45am as hounds are are paraded up to the school for the children to see. As they pass along the Main Street most doors will open, shops and offices pause in business and traffic pull over to welcome and admire the iconic and beautiful hounds and those mounted who are eager to follow them. This is a place that recognises the valuable and intrinsic part played by the hunt in rural society. Thankfully these places still exist, consequently the hunting is first rate!! Today I am obliged to the easel but my heart is with hounds at Emly. #scarteen #scarteenhounds #blackandtans #emly #huntinginireland #doublebanks #greatcraic #missingyouall #irishhunting #wheremyheartis #thescarteen

JAGD ÖSTERREICH JÖ brand is about how centuries-old hunting tradition meets modernity. JAGD ÖSTERREICH continues this legacy while integrating modern conservation practices and sustainable management techniques. The nine Austrian hunting associations are strengthening their transnational cooperation. As a basis for this, they have developed the umbrella brand "Jagd Österreich". By uniting these associations under the JAGD ÖSTERREICH brand, Austria aims to strengthen its hunting community, enhance collaboration between regions, and promote responsible hunting as a key component of wildlife conservation and rural development. Field Tracking in GABÈS: Hunting Legislation, Laws, Demographics and Hunting Seasons in Tunisia Terrain Profile and Ecological Scope of Gabès Region Gabès lies in southeastern Tunisia where arid steppes, low mountain ridges, and desert fringes converge, creating a challenging and distinct hunting environment. The region transitions from coastal Mediterranean zones near the Gulf of Gabès into drier, rocky terrain as one moves inland toward Matmata and El Hamma. Vegetation is sparse and largely limited to drought-resistant shrubs, scattered acacias, and semi-arid scrubland, making the landscape highly open with minimal cover for wildlife. However, this very openness favors specific types of game and offers clear sightlines, particularly for those hunting small terrestrial species and birds adapted to desert conditions. Hunter Base and Regional Involvement of Tunisia The hunting community in Gabès is modest but active, especially in the interior delegations where traditional practices

An Inuit hunter stands over a dead polar bear. November 26, 1924, USA The Inuit are an ethnic group of indigenous peoples of North America living in the vast northern territories of Canada from the Labrador Peninsula to the mouth of the Mackenzie River, as well as in Alaska. One of the main activities of the Inuit is hunting wild animals. Inuit have made a living from hunting on land, on the sea, on the ice. Through time, marine mammals, terrestrial mammals, fish and birds have been the basis of food and clothing, light and heat, tools and means of transportation, such as dog sleds, kayaks and large skin boats. That way all Inuit live was evolved with the hunting culture. The sustenance of families and settlements has relied heavily on favourable hunting conditions and successful catches. Angola While hunting is not currently taking place on a commercial basis in Angola it is looking like a new hot spot and may open up by 2025 with some outstanding Elephant and Cape Buffalo available. We recently looked at some hunting areas in the Cuando Cubango Province near Mavinga and I personally saw buffalo over 45 inches and bull Elephant in the 60–70-pound range. There is already a very nice lodge in place and once the CITES details are worked out this will be the prime area for most hunts in Angola. The first few hunters in country will definitely get the hunting opportunity of a lifetime. If you are interested contact us so we can keep you posted on the progress being made and we can place you on our waiting list so you don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to open a new safari area!!

Huge Zimbabwe Elephant Killed Legally, Says Wildlife Authority Harare: The hunt that killed one of the biggest elephants seen for years in Zimbabwe was legal, the wildlife authority said today. The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority (ZimParks) said the elephant which was killed last week in the southeastern part of the country had tusks weighing 54 and 55 kilogrammes respectively adding that proceeds from the hunt would go towards wildlife conservation. "On the 7th of October 2015, an adult male elephant was hunted as a trophy by a foreign client through a locally registered safari company in Malipati Safari area," the ZimParks statement said. It said the area was "allocated sustainable quotas and hunting permits for all wildlife species including elephants on annual basis." Malipati is adjacent to Gonarezhou national park and the two game parks hold 11,452 elephants, ZimParks said, dismissing reports that the elephant hunt took place inside the national park. 5 Off-Season Treestand Safety Reminders Do You Follow These Safety Rules? The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is reminding hunters to give some thought to hunting safety, especially for treestands during the off-season. It may seem counterintuitive at this time of year, but treestand safety is important at times other than hunting season. "Unfortunately, every year there are a number of treestand accidents with injury before deer season even opens," said Travis Casper. "We need hunters to think about and practice treestand safety all the time, not just during hunting season." If you are scouting a location and putting up your treestand, even on a trial basis, use the same precautions you would during hunting season: Wear a full-body safety harness. Use a lifeline or lineman's belt to stay connected when you're off the ground. Maintain three points of contact when climbing. Follow manufacturer instructions. Have an emergency signal and tell someone where you plan to go. The

The early season is a great time to hunt whitetails. Food sources are plentiful, deer are unpressured and they’re on consistent patterns. The latter point is the most important because that’s what makes them the most huntable. Whitetails are repeating very similar patterns on a consistent basis. That makes them killable. What makes them unkillable? Hunting them incorrectly and in the wrong places. Here are five spots to avoid. 1. Untimely Food Sources Deer are always focused on the food. They shift as food sources change. But generally, they remain in each pattern for several days or weeks. It’s all about finding the best, freshest food source. Deer are concentrate selectors, meaning they are constantly seeking out the best food source on the landscape. Generally, these patterns vary based on geographic location and change from property to property. In one location, deer might be targeting green soybeans. On a neighboring tract, they could be hitting the first of the white oak acorns.
