Looking back on a fantastic week in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. I treasure every trip I get to make to the GYE. This image was captured February of 2022. After listening to multiple groups of howls, we decided to position ourselves in between them in hopes we could catch a glimpse. After only 5hrs of being in the general area our patients paid off. To my surprise a beautiful young gray wolf appeared on the ridge above. With another pack across the river communicating with her I knew we were in for a treat. One of our followers, Brock Maksymiw, from Saskatchewan, just sent us these photos with his story. He first got this buck on camera back on 11/22 and thought his camera had a glitch. It wasn't until 11/24 when it was confirmed this buck actually had another bucks head attached to it! Brock quickly grabbed his gear and headed out to the property where the pictures were taken. Sure enough after a short while, he saw it and fired, but missed! As Brock wrote, his nerves got the best of him. However, Brock came back a few hours later and saw the same buck in a different spot, and got him.

(AP) — Wisconsin wildlife officials say they won’t seek charges against a bow hunter who killed a cougar. The Department of Natural Resources said in a news release Wednesday that the bow hunter shot the animal in Buffalo County and self-reported the incident to the agency’s violation hotline on Nov. 11. The department said an investigation showed the bow hunter was hunting deer when the hunter encountered the cougar and shot it in self-defense.
