The Grizzly Bear Chair is a gift from hunter Seth Kinman to President Andrew Johnson. 1865, USA Seth Kinman (September 29, 1815 – February 24, 1888) was an early settler of Humboldt County, California, a hunter based in Fort Humboldt, a famous chair maker, and a nationally recognized entertainer. He stood over 6 ft (1.83 m) tall and was known for his hunting prowess and his brutality toward bears and Indian warriors. Kinman claimed to have shot a total of over 800 grizzly bears, and, in a single month, over 50 elk. He was also a hotel keeper, saloon keeper, and a musician who performed for President Lincoln on a fiddle made from the skull of a mule. The Grizzly Bear Chair is a unique chair presented to Andrew Johnson, the 17th President of the United States, in 1865. It was made of bear skin and decorated in a style popular at the time. The chair became a symbol of Johnson's personal preferences and reflected his connection with nature and the frontier spirit. The armchair not only s

The Roadless Rule in the Tongass National Forest is Vital for Both Hunters and Brown Bears There’s a long history of Alaskan hunting guides stepping up to protect the Tongass. In the mid-1980s an old, dying bear hunter named Ralph Young sat in the back of a skiff, squinting through the rain at the ocean and mountains of Southeast Alaska. In the bow, huddled against the wind and rain, sat a teenager named Klas Stolpe. The two would be out for a month or two, until most of the salmon had spawned and the bears had left the streams for the high country. The old man didn’t especially enjoy the kid’s company but, due his to declining health and old age, he needed his help for basic things like getting in and out of the boat. They motored past once pristine bays, where years ago the old man guided legendary hunters like Warren Page and Jack O’Connor. Now, those lands were clear-cut logged. He pointed the skiff toward Admiralty Island, the heart of rainforest grizzly country, and opened the

Fishing in Latvia Fishing for food has been a topical activity since the beginning of humankind. However, even today it has not lost its influence and significance. It is a great way to be alone with nature or to spend time with family or like-minded people. The diversity of nature offers the opportunity for a chilled family holiday by the sea, river or lake, and allows a passionate fisherman's dream of a big catch to be fulfilled. There are many different fish species in Latvian waters, and none of them are poisonous or dangerous to health. The most popular of these are pike, pike-perch, trout, carp, tench, perch, vimba, roach, bream, flounder and smelt, but the biggest pride of a fisherman is catching salmon or sea trout. Several fish species spend most of their lives at sea, only arriving in rivers during spawning, but some of these fish live and spawn in Latvia's rivers and lakes. End of year review: I've chosen this as my Wildlife Photo of the Year. It's a cheetah running into its new home provided by Trophy Hunters. Yes, beautifully managed trophy hunting by Zambezi Delta Safaris in 500,000 acre Hunting Block 11 has increased native wildlife to such high numbers that they were able to reintroduce cheetahs, a predator missing from the area for at least 100 years. Cabela's Family Foundation is a big part of this program. Four cheetah were released this day. I got this shot by running a GoPro 10 on video mode atop a small tripod while I operated a Canon R6 and 150-600mm Sigma. Lots of good video from both cameras, but this single frame pulled from the GoPro captured the essence of wildlife restoration advanced by and funded by dedicated sport/trophy hunters. By Frank Gentile, Hopewell, N.Y. It was October 2011, and I was back in my Chevy Tahoe on my way to another hunt. This time, instead of my son, I was traveling with my hunting buddies. My buddies and I had been on plenty of trips together before but never to Texas! Between the four of us and gear for six (two of our team opted to fly from New York to San Antonio), every single spare inch of space in the truck had been utilized. With each of us taking turns driving, we made it to Texas in about 20 hours. We got dinner and hotel rooms in Texarkana, and were back on the road early the next morning. With a day to spare before we were due at our hunting camp in Hondo, Texas, we headed south with plans to enjoy the city of San Antonio along the way. In San Antonio, we explored the Alamo, the River Walk and the Buckhorn Saloon and Texas Ranger Museum. What a great city! Our first order of business after arriving at the camp the next morning was to make sure that our rifles were on target.

Trophy Universal: Urial Ovis aries (lat.) is a species of mammal from the genus 🐏 rams, subfamily Capidae, family Bovidae. ℹ️ An interesting combination of genetic traits could classify urials as both OVIS and Caprinae. However, if we look at the species of trophy animals that make up the rating tables of various hunting clubs, such as KGO, SCI, GSCO, it follows that a urial trophy can only close a position in the OVIS category - rams. ❗️Urials are in the "vulnerable species" category, so many countries have begun to strengthen the populations of these animals, which are becoming rare. Hunting tourism has become one of the supports for countries in which the urial is an official hunting species. A limited number of licenses are issued for shooting, and good deductions from officially conducted hunts are returned to the economy of the regions where they live and sponsor environmental activities. We can safely say that all hunters who go hunting for urial in Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekist

UK trophy hunting import ban to be brought forward A trophy hunting import ban will be brought forward in coming months despite opposition from Conservative backbenchers, the environment secretary has said. George Eustice told animal welfare campaigners of the commitment after rumours that a bill banning the import of parts of endangered animals shot abroad had been stopped. The trophy hunting import ban was a Tory manifesto commitment for this parliamentary session. Eustice said the government was “absolutely committed to” bringing the bill forward. The government has said the bill has been delayed, claiming parliament does not have enough time this session to pass the law. Eustice said it would be a priority piece of legislation when the new session opens later in spring. “While we won’t be introducing the animals abroad bill in this session as we are out of time, we will be looking at a range of vehicles for legislation on these important issues in the next session,” said Eustic

Yakut moose is now even more accessible To receive the 🏆 "Russian Super Cup" prize in the KGO, a Yakut moose trophy must be harvested. And in general, the trophy will be of interest to all collectors. The Yakut moose 🫎 in the shape and size of its antlers is more similar to a large European moose, good specimens of which have been successfully harvested in the Chelyabinsk region in recent years. In a very frosty climate of -50 and with poor nutrition, the antlers of the "Yakuts" never reach the size of the Chukchi ones. When serious frosts come, the moose goes out into open spaces and starts moving so as not to freeze. Therefore, in Yakutia, local hunters prefer to go moose when the cold weather begins 🥶 from -40 ° C. 🗓 Hunting season: from September to January. ℹ️ Individual hunting or up to 2 people in a group. Each hunter is provided with personal transport, a driver and a guide. The cost of 3 days of hunting, including 1 Yakut moose trophy, is 700,000 rubles. For detail
