What Should Every Hunter Have? - A Real Hunter’s Guide to Essential Gear. As someone who’s spent countless dawns in the woods, boots soaked and breath fogging in the cold, I can tell you this: hunting isn’t just about the shot - it’s about preparation. Whether you’re stalking elk in the Rockies, waiting on whitetail in a tree stand, or calling ducks from a blind, the gear you carry can make or break your hunt. So, what should every hunter have? Let me walk you through the essentials - not just the obvious ones, but the real-world tools that seasoned hunters never leave behind. 🎯 1. Weapon of Choice (and the Right Ammo) Let’s start with the obvious. Whether it’s a rifle, shotgun, bow, or crossbow, your weapon must match your game and terrain. But don’t just bring your firearm-bring the right ammunition, and plenty of it. I’ve seen hunts ruined because someone packed the wrong grain or gauge. Pro tip: Always zero your scope before the season starts. A missed shot due to poor sightiPost: 29 June 18:19

This photo of caribou on the autumn tundra while losing their antler velvet was taken on Canada's Far North. During the autumn period that begins in late August, the caribou bulls start to shed their antler velvet. During this period the antlers are tinged red from the shedding process, and is called 'hanging bloody'. By mid-September, just before the mating period, the antlers are usually velvet free and sun-bleached white again. Post: 17 October 11:22

Hunting in Northern China Today, you can’t legally go hunting in China. A century ago, however, things were different, and you can find testimony on pages of old books. Here we reproduce a few extracts from one such book, “Fur and Feather in Northern China” by Arthur de Carle Sowerby, F.R.G.S., published in 1914. Bats, admittedly, are mentioned only in passing, but we hope you’ll enjoy the stories about wild sheep, wapiti, and antelope. Wild Sheep No one who has not experienced it can form more than the faintest idea of what “the long day’s patience, belly-down on frozen drift” while waiting to get a shot at the “head of heads feeding out of range” means. Day after day the hunter goes out, and climbs the steep and rocky ascents to the sheep range : he crosses wind-swept uplands, white with the driven snow: he scales treacherous precipices, jagged with needles and spurs of crumbling granite : ever with his trusty glasses to his eyes he keeps spying, spying, spying, till one day he sePost: 16 May 17:16
Just stumbled upon some old photos in my archive and couldn't help but reminisce about my first hunting experience. It was a mix of excitement, nerves, and anticipation all rolled into one. The early morning start, the scent of the woods, the thrill of the chase – it was a feeling like no other. As I look back on those moments captured in those snapshots, I can't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to connect with nature in such a raw and primal way. The camaraderie with fellow hunters, the quiet moments of solitude, the satisfaction of a successful hunt – it's all part of the experience. Hunting isn't just about the kill; it's about the journey, the memories made, and the lessons learned along the way. It's a chance to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and immerse yourself in the beauty of the great outdoors. Who else has experienced the rush of their first hunt? Share your stories with me! #huntingmemories #firsthunt #wildernessadventures #natureconnectionPost: 12 March 16:27

After my weekend training in Moscow shooting club, I remembered an outstanding meeting. It took place last September at the ADIHEX 2024, Abu Dhabi hunting exhibition. On a photo one of the fastest shooters on the planet, Raniero Testa. He had already set several world records and continues to surprise with new ones. Only after trying yourself in some kind of sport or art, you can really understand how difficult it is. What kind of effort and dedication does it take to become the best in what you do. I have great respect for all real professionals regardless of the type of activity. Raniero Testa (Italy) holds the record by throwing 17 sports clay targets with his hands and smashing them with 17 shots. And that's not all: the clay targets were hit in a record time of 2.08 seconds. If you count it, it turns out that the combined Raniero/Winchester SX4 produced a rate of fire of 490 rounds per minute – higher than the rate of fire of the M3 “Grease Gun" submachine gun!! The Champawat tigress is a man-eating animal that killed 436 people! Photo: 1911 Nepal, Jim Corbett. In the early 1900s, the Nepalese region close to the Himalayas was terrorized by the most famous and bloodthirsty man-eating animal. Men, women, and children disappeared into the jungle. The attacks were so frequent and violent that the locals started talking about demons and punishments from the gods. But the Bengal tigress was the culprit! Champawat tigress was forced to hunt humans, but I'll tell you about that later. After people found out that people were disappearing because of the tigress. People started hunting for her, all attempts were in vain. The number of people killed has reached 200! I had to turn to the army. Hundreds of people with guns combed the region in search of her. Fleeing from them, the Champawat Tigress crossed the border with India and stopped in the Kumaon region. Settled in the forests of India, Champawat Tigress went back to her old ways. People began tPost: 29 December 18:41

This has happened multiple times now! Here is the story👇 Ready for a once in a lifetime hunting story? One of our followers, Brock Maksymiw, from Saskatchewan, just sent us these photos with his story. He first got this buck on camera back on 11/22 and thought his camera had a glitch. It wasn't until 11/24 when it was confirmed this buck actually had another bucks head attached to it! Brock quickly grabbed his gear and headed out to the property where the pictures were taken. Sure enough after a short while, he saw it and fired, but missed! As Brock wrote, his nerves got the best of him. However, Brock came back a few hours later and saw the same buck in a different spot, and got him. Post: 4 December 19:59

When it rains, it pours: Bangladesh wildlife trade booms during monsoon The illegal wildlife trade in Bangladesh increases during the wet season due to a shortage of livelihoods and poor surveillance, a study has found. Killing and trading wildlife has been illegal in Bangladesh since 2012, but a culture of hunting means the problem still persists, wildlife officials say. Wildlife markets trade in animals and parts from species such as tigers and crocodiles, with the more lucrative end of the trade thriving in areas with a weak law enforcement presence and close proximity to a seaport or airport. Efforts to tackle the trade are limited by law enforcement restrictions, with the Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU) lacking the authority to arrest suspects and reliant on local agencies for investigations and legal action. Post: 6 December 12:38

ATN X-Sight 4K Pro 3-14x Scope Review I recently had the opportunity to use the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro 3-14x scope on my hunting trips, and I wanted to share my honest thoughts about its performance, features, and overall value. Here’s a detailed review that covers both the strengths and weaknesses of this innovative optic. Pros: Exceptional Image Quality: The 4K Ultra HD resolution truly stands out. The clarity and detail in both day and night conditions are outstanding. Even at dusk, I was able to spot game clearly, thanks to the high-resolution sensor and advanced night vision capabilities. User-Friendly Interface: The scope features an intuitive interface that made it easy to access various settings and functions. The navigation through menus is straightforward, and I quickly learned how to adjust settings without having to consult the manual repeatedly. Built-In Recording: One of the highlights for me was the ability to record videos and take photos directly from the scope. This Post: 29 November 22:09
