The data, released this week by government watchdog Natural England, has caused concern among environmentalists. What is falconry and how is it regulated in the UK? Falconry involves hunting wild animals in their natural habitat using a trained bird of prey. There are reportedly around 25,000 falconers in the UK. Youth have more time to complete hunter education while still hunting this fall. Any youth (age 17 and younger) who has completed an online hunter education class will be able to hunt on their own tag, even if they haven’t completed the required in-person field day. With fewer hunter education classes/field days offered this year due to COVID-19, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will defer the field day requirement for youth hunters for the 2021 hunting season. The field day will still be required to get a hunter education certificate, but can be delayed until after hunting season. “This will provide additional time for any young hunter to get their hunter education certification,” said Antonio Salgado, ODFW Recruitment/Retention/Reactivation Coordinator. “They will still have to complete a field day to be fully certified. Since fewer and smaller hunter ed conventional classes and field days have been offered due to COVID, we didn’t want anyone to miss the chance to hunt this

St. Clair County Sheriff shares safety tips for deer firearms season Always tell someone where you are hunting and when you should be expected back home. Wear as much hunter's orange as possible to increase your visibility. Hunter's orange should be worn on the outermost layer of clothes and visible from all directions. For those recreating outdoors near hunting areas, such as hikers, wear orange so you can be seen by hunters. Obey "No Trespassing" signs. Check the forecast and dress for the weather. Carry some type of two-way communication device that receives service in remote areas. Treat every weapon as if it were loaded and do not put your finger on the trigger unless you are prepared to shoot. Check your equipment regularly and keep it well-maintained. Be sure of your target and what is in front of it, immediately behind it, and beyond it. Wear hearing and eye protection − this will help protect your sight and hearing from damage. Do not hunt while under the influence of drugs or

ORANGE IS A NEW BLACK Stay safe when hunting by following these tips: -Check weather reports before embarking on a hunting trip. -Tell someone where you will be hunting and when you will return. -Be familiar with the area you want to hunt. Bring a map and compass. -Carry a basic survival kit and be prepared for an unexpected overnight stay in the field.

Beretta Ultralight: Featherweight Power for Upland Bird Hunters For the upland bird hunter, every ounce counts. Hours spent traversing fields and forests demand a shotgun that won't weigh you down. Enter the Beretta Ultralight, a 12-gauge (and occasionally 20-gauge) that redefines "carry gun" without sacrificing the performance expected from a Beretta. Why the Ultralight Stands Out: Reduced Weight, Real Impact: The Ultralight achieves its name through a meticulously engineered alloy receiver. This shaves significant weight compared to steel-framed shotguns, typically bringing the overall weight to around 6.6 pounds for a 12-gauge. This translates to less fatigue during long hunts, allowing for quicker shouldering and improved accuracy. Beretta Reliability: Don't mistake lightness for fragility. The Ultralight is still a Beretta, built with the company's renowned attention to detail and durable components. The proven Beretta action ensures reliable cycling, even in demanding fie

Hardware: Browning A5 Wicked Wing Sweet Sixteen A legendary early 20th century shotgun, the 16-gauge dropped off the map in 1989 when skeet shooting rules were finalized by the newly formed National Sporting Clays Association, and the gauge didn’t make the cut. As much as field shooters favored the shotgun’s lightweight, functional, easy-on-the-shoulder nature, skeet shooters press the trigger more than upland and waterfowl hunters combined, and ammo manufacturers couldn’t justify the cost of production. Browning A5 Wicked Wing Sweet Sixteen Semi Automatic Shotgun. Today, however, this near-perfect gauge is making a remarkable comeback. Why? Efficiency. Not only do 16-gauge loads hit with a wallop, especially with modern-day tungsten and bismuth, the guns are simply a joy to tote. Weighing less than most 12-gauge options and comparable to 20-gauge models, a quality 16-gauge makes a tremendous all-day field gun for any shooter. I’m a Browning fan, and my 12-gauge A5 has been my wa

The Pulsar AL-915 laser spotlight offers a unique blend of high-performance illumination and innovative technology, making it an appealing choice for both outdoor enthusiasts and professionals. One of its prominent advantages is the exceptional brightness it provides, which effectively illuminates vast areas, enhancing visibility in low-light conditions. The device's lightweight design and compact size contribute to its portability, allowing for easy handling during extended use. However, several downsides warrant consideration. The battery life, while decent, could be more robust, especially for those needing prolonged usage without interruptions. Additionally, the pricing may be on the higher side for amateur users, potentially limiting its accessibility. Some users have also reported a slight learning curve associated with its operating features, which could be frustrating for those seeking a straightforward experience. In summary, the Pulsar AL-915 laser spotlight is a powerful t

Can a fox hunt a squirrel? Yes, foxes can and do hunt squirrels as part of their natural behavior. Foxes are carnivorous predators, and squirrels can be a part of their diet, especially if they are available in the fox's habitat. However, hunting squirrels can be challenging for foxes because squirrels are agile and quick, both on the ground and in trees. Foxes typically rely on stealth, speed, and surprise to catch prey like squirrels. They may stalk or ambush them, using their keen senses to detect movement and sound. While squirrels are not a fox's primary prey (they often prefer smaller mammals like rodents), they will take the opportunity to hunt squirrels if the situation allows. In urban or suburban areas where foxes and squirrels coexist, this predator-prey relationship can still occur, though it might be less common due to human interference and other food sources available to foxes.

Wild birds can now be killed so there are more game birds to shoot in England Millions of beautiful, colourful pheasants are bred every year for British game farms. They are fattened up so that they’re slow and easy to shoot once the hunting season begins. But there has long been debate over when predators can be shot to protect them. Now, as part of new guidelines, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has included a definition for when these birds are considered livestock. Under guidelines on general shooting licences approved in England on 3 January, gamekeepers will be able to legally shoot crows, magpies and jackdaws to defend pheasants, grouse and partridges. But only when they are “kept in an enclosure or which are free-roaming but remain significantly dependent on the provision of food, water or shelter by a keeper for their survival.”
