Day 2 of 5. Oklahoma. I packed up camp on the lake and headed to the river. The water was all the way up to 52 degrees after being in the low 30s the week before! I setup on a deep hole (20ft. deep) with a big inside eddy. I caught a 3 pound dinner cat within 2 minutes of setting up, then another small fish 2 minutes after that, then this surprise January Flathead about 5 minutes later! 3 fish within the first 15 minutes was a great start then it died down. After a couple hours and some missed bites I put 2 rods on the downstream side of the hole in about 6 feet of water and shortly after I got a good blue! I had fried catfish for dinner and slept like a baby with no bites the rest of the night. I love camping on the river and not just observing wildlife but being apart of it. From Coyotes howling to wild pigs squealing to big blue cats biting the crap out of me I love it!

Buck Holes Search for what I call buck holes, which are tangles of honeysuckle or wild rose on ridges, cedar or pine thickets, brushy beaver swamps … you get the idea. A buck hole doesn’t have to be large or even remote — just a thick spot other hunters overlook. A grassy ditch near a back road, an overgrown hog lot behind an old barn or a similar neglected spot can hide a big buck. Scour an aerial map for such pockets or strips of cover. Check the edges of a thicket or swamp for trails pocked with big tracks. Look for rubs and late scrapes, which are signs that a buck has moved back in there to evade hunters and breed a last willing doe. When you find a mother lode of fresh sign, stop right there. You don’t want to bust into a small security area, put more heat on already wired deer and bust them out of there. It’s better to back off 100 yards or so and set up on a ridge or point where you can cover buck entry and exit routes into and out of cover.

При этом некоторые подвиды африканского буйвола значительно меньше по размерам. Кроме того, лесные буйволы значительно меньше обитающих в саванне. Популяция буйволов в Африке сохранилась, по сравнению с поголовьем других крупных животных континента, достаточно хорошо, хотя испытывает сильное давление со стороны человека.

Канадская казарка (канадский гусь) – самая крупная представительница рода казарок. Данный вид насчитывает не меньше 8 подвидов, которые различаются между собой, преимущественно, только размерами. Для птицы характерна контрастная окраска. Перья на голове и шее имеют черную окраску, только по бокам головы есть белые пятна. Остальная часть тела — серо-бурого цвета (спина темнее, чем грудь), с полосками по бокам. Ноги и клюв у птицы черные, а подхвостье белое, самцы и самки по окрасу не отличаются. Длина тела канадской казарки может доходить до метра, размах крыльев – свыше полутора метров. Масса тела зависит от подвида, однако самец всегда больше самки. Масса самцов в среднем составляет 3,5-6,5 кг, а самок – 3-5,5 кг.

Лососевых браконьеров ночью задержал наряд полиции и рыбоохраны Совместная рейдовая группа сотрудников Елизовского отдела рыбоохраны и полиции задержала в ночь с 3 на 4 сентября двух мужчин, которые с резиновых лодок добывали лососей на реке Пиначевская с помощью жилковой сети без разрешительных документов. В Северо-Восточном ТУ ФАР сообщили, что к моменту обнаружения браконьеры успели поймать 20 кижучей и одну кету. Возбуждено административное производство по ч. 2.ст. 8.37 КоАП РФ, материалы направлены в полицию для проведения проверки и принятия решения. Сеть, две надувных лодки и незаконный улов переданы на ответственное хранение. За каждого кижуча нарушителям придется заплатить по 10635 руб. (120$) и 2009 руб. (23$) за кету.
