SAKO 90S QUEST CARBON STOCK .308 Win Review I recently had the opportunity to use the SAKO 90S Quest Carbon Stock chambered in .308 Win, and I’d like to share my thoughts on this rifle based on my experience. SAKO 90S Pros: Lightweight and Maneuverable: One of the standout features of the SAKO 90S is its carbon stock construction. Weighing in at approximately 3.5 kg (just under 8 lbs), it feels remarkably light, making it a great choice for long hunts or extended range sessions. This reduced weight doesn't compromise its sturdiness, which is a noticeable bonus. Accuracy and Precision: The .308 Win caliber is well-respected for its accuracy at varying distances, and this rifle is no exception. During my tests, I was able to consistently achieve tight groupings at 100 meters. The 51 cm barrel length provides a good balance between maneuverability in tight spaces and effective range, making it versatile for different shooting scenarios. Ergonomic Design: The overall design of the

U šumskom Kamerunu uspjeh lova u velikoj mjeri ovisi o timu planinara. Dobro su orijentirani u šikari, poznaju životinje i imaju neku vrstu nevjerojatnog smisla. Spretan, brz i oštrovidan!

Rødøjede løvfrøer findes i Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama og findes endda i nogle isolerede populationer i Colombia.

Designed to be the perfect combination of speed and comfort, the Escort Dynamax semi-automatic shotgun is loaded with features that maximize both performance and value. The Dynamax is outfitted with Escort's modern, patented Hybrid Cycling System (HCS). It combines the best features from each of the two traditional cycling operating systems, gas and kinetic. The Dynamax will cycle light loads like a traditional gas system, but uses much less gas. As a result, recoil is reduced, and the cycle rate is faster and more efficient. With less felt recoil, the shooter acquires targets faster, making follow up shots more effective. Using less gas to cycle the gun also means the Dynamax does not have to be cleaned as frequently, and the shotgun is simple to break down, making maintenance easy. The entire barrel/receiver module is oxidation-proof for ultimate weather resistance. The precision-tooled barrel is made from Ni-Cr-Mo steel, and is hard-chrome-lined. The bolt of the Dynamax is also fabr

Finally, conservationists have created a whale wash to clean skin parasites from whales! Well... of course you realized that it's all a hat)) No one created a whale wash, it's all fun with a neural network. But what kind of parasites can be found on whales? A lot of people, actually. For example, whale lice. Whale lice are crustaceans from the order bokoplavov. They live on the skin of cetaceans (especially in the area of the anal and genital openings) and feed on their tissues — with severe infection, this leads to the formation of ulcers reaching the layer of subcutaneous fat. In warm waters, mixins and leeches cling to whales. To get a better grip, the mixin is even tied in a knot. Voracious leeches are capable of swallowing meat 8 times their own weight in 7 hours. Balanus can also be found on whales. These are barnacles, but they do not eat their host, but use it as a means of transportation. An adult balanus sits in a lime shell that is firmly attached to something. The p

Leupold LTO Tracer Pocket Thermal Imager Review I recently had the opportunity to test out the Leupold LTO Tracer Pocket Thermal Imager, and I must say, my experience with it has been largely positive. As a hunting enthusiast and outdoor adventurer, I've used various thermal imagers before, and the LTO Tracer brings some unique features to the table that impressed me. Build Quality and Design: The first thing that stands out about the LTO Tracer is its compact design. It fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, making it incredibly portable for those long treks in the wilderness. Weighing in at just around 8 ounces, it’s lightweight enough that it won’t weigh you down. The build quality is robust, feeling durable yet elegant, which is what I expect from a brand like Leupold. The materials used seem resistant to wear and tear, and the rubberized exterior offers a solid grip, even in wet conditions. Image Quality: The thermal resolution of 160 x 120 pixels provides a decent level

Coyote hunting is one of the most common forms of predator hunting that humans partake in. There are not many regulations with regard to the taking of the coyote which means there are many different methods that can be used to hunt the animal. The most common forms are trapping, calling, and hound hunting. Since coyotes are colorblind, seeing only in shades of gray and subtle blues, open camouflages, and plain patterns can be used. As the average male coyote weighs 8 to 20 kg (18 to 44 lbs) and the average female coyote 7 to 18 kg (15 to 40 lbs), a universal projectile that can perform between those weights is the .223 Remington, so that the projectile expands in the target after entry, but before the exit, thus delivering the most energy. Coyotes being the light and agile animals they are, they often leave a very light impression on terrain. The coyote's footprint is oblong, approximately 6.35 cm (2.5-inches) long and 5.08 cm (2-inches) wide. There are four claws in both their front

The 15-year-old hunter is now the proud record holder of the only Boone & Crockett (B&C) bull elk for Virginia with a score of 413-7/8” after his dad, Bo, won a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) raffle. As GOHUNT previously reported, Virginia announced its first historic elk season last year following a successful reintroduction effort spearheaded by RMEF. Out of the five tags available, four went to Virginia residents lucky to draw and the fifth was raffled off by RMEF. Almost 32,000 applicants vied for their chance at a once-in-a-lifetime tag, generating $513,000 for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources general fund, according to B&C. The RMEF tag raised $93,000 and the monies will be used for elk habitat management. Bo was excited to hear that he won. “I haven’t hunted myself in seven years. It’s been all about my boys.” The Prieskorns live in New Mexico and Bo was an outfitter for 30 ye

8 Best Charge-Stopping Bear Cartridges 1. .45-70 Government First adopted by the U.S. military in 1873, the .45-70 Government has been one of the longest-standing big-game cartridges of all time. It’s also been incredibly popular among Alaskan hunters and guides, especially in lever-actions like Marlin’s 1895 Guide Gun, which is compact, fairly lightweight and highly maneuverable in close quarters. It’s also capable of sending a massive projectile, like Buffalo Bore’s 430-grain hard-cast bullet, at roughly 2000 fps and 3,600 ft.-lbs. from the muzzle. Talk about stopping power. 2. .454 Casull Developed by Dick Casull and Jack Fulmer in 1957, the .454 Casull is a dangerous game hunter’s dream come true. One of the more powerful handguns available today, the .454 is capable of pushing a 300-grain Buffalo Bore bullet at 1650 fps with 1,813 ft.-lbs. of energy at the muzzle. Nelson killed one of his charging grizzlies with a .454 Casull, which he says is one of his favorite choices for bear

8 Great New Hunting Rifles for 2022 Though I absolutely love those rifles which have been with me for decades, and have shared so many indelible memories, I still get excited to see the new crop of rifles introduced each year, and always ponder the possibilities of creating new memories with a new model. A hunting rifle can become a life-long friend, but like any friend, there’s the first time you meet, and like so many friendships, sometimes things don’t work out. Whether it’s a long-range bolt gun for sheep, elk and antelope, or a thumper of a lever gun destined to pursue bear in the spring vegetation, or an all-around deer gun, the possibilities are endless. Let’s take a gander at what’s new for 2022 for the American hunter.1. Marlin 1895 SBL and Trapper Rescued from the dustbin by Ruger, Marlin was purchased in the breakup of the Freedom Group, and they are coming back with a vengeance. The first of the new Marlin rifles to come off the line was the Model 1895 SBL, with its large

Montana man convicted of poaching four bucks A Montana man recently lost his hunting privileges for the next 16 years after poaching four mule deer bucks last October. Brayden Reed was convicting of spotlighting and shooting two bucks on Oct. 2 and a third buck on private property on Oct. 8 before taking them to BLM’s Ah-Nei Recreation Area where he removed the antlers and backstraps, according to a press release. Reed did not have a valid hunting license at the time nor tags for any of the deer. All of the incidents occurred before the start of general deer season on Oct. 23. The bonus? During the investigation, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game warden Connor Langel also discovered a fourth illegally killed mule deer. Reed pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful possession of deer, two counts of wasting game, three counts of hunting during a closed season, two counts of unlawful use of equipment, two counts of hunting without a license and one count of killing more than a l

How to Plant a Deer Orchard Should fruit trees be part of your program? Check out these tips for starting new trees Lush fields of clover, alfalfa and brassicas aren’t the only crops that will hold deer on your property. Once established, fruit trees can produce highly attractive forage for 40 years or more. The right trees produce edible fruit throughout the entire hunting season, drawing deer from a distance and holding them on your property. Select the Right Tree Deer will readily consume apples, pears, plums, persimmons, and mulberries. By planting a variety of trees, you can ensure at least one ripe food source throughout the season. Most fruit varieties are available in dwarf, semi-dwarf and standard sizes. Dwarf varieties mature around 8- to 10-feet tall and wide. They’re suitable for small spaces and can stand up to high winds better than larger trees. Their height also makes it easier for deer to reach fruit before it falls to the ground, though the small size of these trees

10 Classic Hunting Rifles Every Hunter Should Own (Part 3) 8. Remington Model 760 Gamemaster The 760 is a box magazine-fed pump-action with similar looks to Remington’s 870 and 1100 shotgun lines. It began production somewhere around 1952, and naturally became a very popular deer woods rifle. Not a style of rifle that’s commonly associated with Alaska or western-style hunting, the Model 760 is a quick-pointing, quick-shooting bush rifle. It’s great for hunting in thick timber where shot distances are limited, but shots might be fleeting. Model 760 Gamemaster in .30/06 would be a great for bear hunting over bait. 9. Browning BAR Designed by Bruce Browning, grandson of John M. Browning, the sporting BAR is a semi-automatic hunting rifle that was introduced in 1968 and first produced in Belgium. It’s box magazine fed and features a hinged trap-door floorplate that’s opened to insert the magazine. The BAR has been highly successful, and different models are still in production today—i

The name “raccoon” comes to us from the Indian word “Arakun”, which translates as “scratching with his own hands.” Raccoons are predatory mammals. Raccoon dogs are close relatives of raccoons (they are often confused with raccoons). How big is the raccoon? The length of its body is usually 45-60 cm. The average weight of a raccoon, depending on the species, can vary from 2-5 to 8-15 kg. Moreover, males are often larger than females. The structure of a raccoon’s body is a bit like a fox or a dog. The raccoon’s paws are an important distinguishing feature of these animals; they have very elongated pads, even reminiscent of human hands. So all raccoons have excellent grasping abilities. Raccoons easily climb on trees and can manipulate various small objects. The raccoon’s tail is long and usually fluffy. As for the color, all raccoons have a grayish-brown color, and their tail is painted with transverse black and white stripes. The raccoon’s head is very wide, has a short and sharp mu

Hunting Perch with Waterfowl Calls From mid-winter through ice-out, Devils Lake guide Jason Feldner “hunts” perch with a system he says can’t be beat. Relying on highly detailed GPS mapping and electronics, signs from Mother Nature and a ‘three call’ system, Feldner quickly locates and ices big perch, day-in-day-out. “When it comes to finding fish, you’ve gotta key in on slight 1-foot depth contours—especially for perch. In mid- and late winter, a good place to start is that 8- to 15-foot range,” says Feldner. Like birds following a migration path, perch slowly travel specific depth contours from mid-winter through late ice to reach their spring spawning areas. “If you can’t get right on those one-foot contours and follow the perch, you’re gonna have a tough time staying on the action,” says Feldner. But to get the contour right, sink an Aqua-Vu camera, and you’ll spy a stockyard of yellow, green and black bars moving amidst swarms of shrimp. “That’s what I try to put my clients on

Deer hunting in Russia With a rich and at times tumultuous history stretching back centuries, the land of the tsars is a fascinating land to explore. Russia is a biggest country in the world and covers up to 1/8 of the Earth’s land surface. This expansive area allows it to neighbour more countries than anywhere else on earth, as well as touch twenty-two bodies of water and hold twelve seas within its borders. Most of the country has a continental climate with distinct periods of warm and cold weather that increases as you travel east. Temperatures for Moscow and St. Petersburg range from highs of 32 C in the summer to lows of -25 C in the winter. 320 mammal species and about 730 bird species inhabit Russia. Hunting is allowed for about 60 mammal species and 70 bird species. Come and hunt Red Stag and Sika Deer (Axis) with us – you will bring home a great trophy and unforgettable memories. A visa is required to visit Russia. It can be obtained at the nearest Embassy or Consulate.

25 Tips for Dove Hunters 1. Pick the Right Gun Dove hunting is supposed to be fun, and if you enjoy shooting family heirlooms or featherlight .410s at doves, who am I to tell you not to? But if your idea of fun is hitting more doves, choose a 12- or 20-gauge with some heft and at least a 28-inch barrel. A longer, heavier gun swings smoothly, points surely and soaks up recoil. The best dove shooting I did this past year was with a 12-gauge sporting clays gun. 2. Stock Up On Shells Ammunition is available again, and there’s no reason to run out opening day, which I have actually done. Begging shells from people in the field is just embarrassing. Field or target loads of Nos. 7½ or 8 lead or 6 or 7 steel work. Steel loads kill fine, by the way. Lighter loads, with less shot and lower velocities, kick a lot less than heavy, high-speed stuff, and you will shoot a lot in no more padding than a T-shirt. Be sure your ammo will cycle your semi-auto, but other than that, lighter is better. 3.

3 Top States for DIY Big Buck Hunters These three stops all have over-the-counter tags and great potential for shooting a trophy buck For a Do-It-Yourself hunter, nothing beats the simplicity of traveling to another state, buying a deer tag over the counter, and then going to the woods. There are plenty of places for us DIYers to hunt like that and probably get a shot at a deer, too. But not as many have strong trophy potential. A 2 1/2-year-old 8-pointer is cream of the crop for most public-land hunting in states like New York, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. If your personal standards are a bit higher than that — maybe you’re after 3 1/2-year and older bucks — you might be facing long odds in most OTC states, at least on public lands. But shooting a mature buck on public land is within the realm of possibility in a few places, for hardworking hunters. These three states — all with OTC tags —have proven that they can regularly produce mature deer, and have some good public hunting to bo

How to Make Moose Jerky Moose jerky is delicious, nutritious and easy to make. The basic concept in my recipe is to take a quality cut of moose, slice it thin, marinate it for four hours and then remove the moisture from the meat in a dehydrator for four- to six hours at 155℉. Here’s how I make moose jerky: Ingredients 3 pound lean moose roast or steak 2/3 cup Worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup soy sauce 2 tbsp honey 2 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes 1 tsp onion powder Step 1 Using a meat slicer—I use a Weston Pro 320 10” Meat Slicer—cut your moose into 1/8-inch slices. I like using lean steaks and roasts from the rear quarter. Flank steak is another popular option. I’ve tried backstrap, but didn’t like it as well due to the fat marbling in the meat. Frozen, slightly thawed meat works best for slicing in a meat slicer. Step 2 In a medium bowl, mix all the ingredients (except the moose) until blended. I use a whisk to integrate the honey into the liquid. Pour the mix
