Weighing less than most 12-gauge options and comparable to 20-gauge models, a quality 16-gauge makes a tremendous all-day field gun for any shooter. Seasonal dates are not dictated by state authorities but rather by local land councils and environmental conditions. Compared to nearby regions like Kakadu N

Duck Hunting Methods in Morocco: Field-Proven Techniques, Regional Strategies & Dog Work 🦆 Duck hunting in Morocco isn’t a packaged experience—it’s raw, seasonal, and shaped by terrain, weather, and tradition. From the tidal lagoons of Merja Zerga to the inland marshes of Tadla, each region demands a different approach. This guide breaks down the actual hunting methods used by Moroccan waterfowl hunters, with detailed insight into setups, dog breeds, regional tactics, and how the hunt unfolds in real time. --- 🎯 Morning Flight Shooting (Most Common Method) This is the bread-and-butter technique for duck hunters across Morocco. Review of the Antonio Zoli MG 92 Combination Gun (Drilling) – 8.57x72R + 2x 12/76 Barrels As an avid hunter who has used the Antonio Zoli MG 92 drilling combination gun for both deer and black grouse (teterev), I can confidently say that this firearm is a unique and versatile tool for hunting. However, like any piece of equipment, it has its strengths and weaknesses. Here’s my detailed take on this gun after several outings in the field. Pros: Versatility: The combination of an 8.57x72R rifle barrel and two 12/76 shotgun barrels makes this gun incredibly versatile. Whether you're stalking deer in dense woods or flushing black grouse in open fields, the MG 92 adapts seamlessly. The ability to switch between rifle and shotgun modes without changing guns is a game-changer. Build Quality: Antonio Zoli is known for its craftsmanship, and the MG 92 is no exception. The walnut stock is beautifully finished, and the metalwork is precise and durable. The gun feels solid in your hand

Field Tested: Browning Trail Cameras Trail cameras serve two purposes: tracking and security. Slimline options do their best at remaining undetected to human beings who might be trespassing on your property, while larger, higher-definition models will draw the most detail out of whatever sets it off. Earlier this year, my wife and I obtained an eight-acre piece of property that has remained untouched for nearly a decade. As such, it has become a bit of a sanctuary for animals that run off from the adjacent state game lands abutting its corner. Property of this nature is often desirable, as it typically makes for an easy hunt due to its long vacancy. However, for the same reason, it becomes attractive to those that want to have a private hunting experience without paying for land of their own. With that in mind, I scoured Browning’s website to find affordable cameras to serve my purposes, and came up with the Strike Force Gen 5 and the Dark Ops HD Max.Features The features on both came

CZ Debuts 600 Series: A Firsthand View If Ford opted to replace the F150 with some new line of pickups, the new design better fill the category. The new series also better be loaded with innovations that aficionados of the brand really do want and need. It also should be close enough to the original beloved DNA of the brand that customers will be excited about, but still comfortable with, the change. 600 Alpha So when CZ said it developed a new 600 series of bolt-action rifles—guns that will reportedly replace the CZ 527 and CZ 557—and asked us to come to the Czech Republic to see them, we were excited about the prospect. We were hopeful they had designed a rifle that would be a smart replacement for established models. We were also hoping this new 600 series would send competitors scrambling for their SolidWorks programs to see how they could adjust to a new design in a very mature firearm category. “Ever since I was a kid, an Alaskan moose hunt has been at the top of my list. And, this season, it was finally here. We were dropped deep into in the Brooks Range and quickly found ourselves chasing rutting bulls through the tundra swamps, tussocks, and ridge lines. After about a week and a handful of incredible encounters, we were hit with a days-long September snow storm. The sudden weather shift also called for a change in our tactics; we began to hunt bull moose more like a Midwest whitetail. Setting up along an obvious trail—that move proved to be the best decision we made on the entire trip. As we waited to fly the meat out, we glassed up a large grizzly—a bonus opportunity after an already successful hunt. We put a plan for a stalk in place and with luck still on our side, it all came together. There are no words to describe a hunt like this other than, once-in-a-lifetime.” - Mathews own’ Jeff Ozanne #MathewsLIFTX #mathews

4 NEW WAYS TO TAG PUBLIC-LAND TURKEYS RIGHT NOW Try these four surefire guerilla tactics to bag your public-land gobbler this spring. 1. START SCOUTING EARLY February is usually a gloomy month for outdoorsmen. Waterfowl and whitetail seasons have recently closed. It’s too cold to go fishing, and cabin fever seems to be a common illness. However, this time of year offers the best chance at getting a jump-start on killing a spring gobbler. To beat the February blues, I like to grab my .410 for squirrels and rabbits, and lace on a good pair of hiking boots. Boots on the ground is one of the biggest factors in setting the table for spring gobbler success as knowing the lay of the land is critical. The foliage is off the trees this time of the year, which makes a walk through the woods fairly easy. The snakes and ticks usually haven’t made their warm weather debut quite yet, either. And since whitetail deer shed their antlers this time of year, you can keep a lookout for sheds while you

5 Factors for Rut Hunting Success 1. Weather Having the right weather can influence how much rutting activity you see — or don't see — on any given hunt. A cold front with a little rain to break a stale weather pattern, followed by a clear, crisp morning can seem to bring deer out of the woodwork. On the flip side, warm weather can slow the action to a crawl. Contrary to popular belief, the weather doesn't determine when deer breed. But it does influence how much of that breeding activity you see out in the open during daylight. Does often hug tight to thick cover when in estrus anyway, and they move even less when it's warmer than average. Bucks don't seem to cruise in the open as often, or for as long, during those unseasonably warm days, either. Don’t Miss: Big Bucks in Nasty Places 2. Available Bedding Cover Rut tactics are almost always terrain-based. So if you aren’t hunting around the type of quality bedding cover deer need this time of year, action will likely be minimal. Fi

Will Brantley and Mike Hanback talk long-range glassing, big bucks in Indiana, and pre-season plans in the Realtree Outpost podcast It's late August and still hot, but there's hope in the air, too. Kentucky's squirrel season opened this past weekend, and Tennessee's early three-day "velvet" archery season opened today. With luck, I'll be in a treestand this weekend. We're right on the eve of one of the best times of year, and there's no better time to debut Season 3 of Realtree's Outpost Podcast. This week, I joined fellow blogger and Big Deer TV host Mike Hanback to discuss a variety of pre-season topics. We covered long-range glassing tactics (as detailed here), and discussed why they're still so effective, especially in the early season, and even more so than trail cameras. We discussed plans for this fall, strategies for hunting the drought-stricken West, and personal goals for another season. Then we shifted gears to talk about Josh Honeycutt's recent (and fascinating) story on

Turkey Hunting the Evening Shift The afternoon can be one of your best chances to shoot a longbeard. Here's your playbook for success The afternoon doesn’t get much attention from hunters or turkeys. Birds hunker low in secluded places to while away the midday. Hunters take siestas to catch up on lost winks, or maybe work in the yard, around the house or at their job. But if your daylight and midmorning sessions didn’t work out, there’s another good time to invest additional hunting hours: the evening shift. Provided hunting in the afternoons is legal in your state (in some states, it isn’t), real hunting opportunities present themselves in the last two to three hours of daylight. Turkey activity increases significantly at this time. But the evening shift is a different kind of hunting. A turkey at day’s end is not the same bird it was at day’s beginning. You must understand those differences, hunt with them in mind, and put a new collection of turkey hunting tactics, techniques and tr

Hour-to-Hour Elk Hunting Tactics. Elk hunting differs from a traditional whitetail hunt in many ways. Elevation, rugged terrain and extraction adversities separate the two, just to name a handful of complicating distinctions. Another difference is the fact elk keep a schedule that offers hunting opportunities throughout the day, whereas whitetails may shut down. Focus on meeting locations that vary by the hour to engage your leggy quarry instead of napping under an old pine tree. 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. If I had to rate one period as the Holy Grail, it would be dawn through midmorning. Elk seem to be anxious, agitated and goal-oriented. That equals noise, and noisy elk are easy to track. The "anxious" issue arises from elk being exposed at sunrise to potential hunting pressure. They are anxious to move to private digs most hunters will be pressed to reach. Herd bulls are anxious to keep the harem together while moving through a barrage of tag-along satellite bulls. What is the goal? By midmo

The 5 Guns Every Outdoorsman Needs It never hurts to have a few extra firearms, but if you’re a hunter and limited to just five, these are the ones you really can’t live without If you’re like me, you’d own 20 or more rifles, shotguns, and handguns, however many you could afford. But truth is, to have a blast shooting targets and hunting every species of bird and animal across America, you really only need five firearms. And those are the ones we’re talking about here. In this discussion, we’ll focus on the generic qualities and some specs of the five categories of guns. When you’re ready to buy, do your research on Google and at your local gun shop to find the brands and models that match your style and fit your budget. A .22 Rifle Every man, woman, and child on Earth needs a good old .22 rifle. Well, so long as they’re properly trained in firearms handling and safety. Whether for plinking on the Back 40 or potting a mess of squirrels in October, a .22 rifle is the gun most of us le

No Ammo? No Problem As the ammo shortage continues, these five drills can help you keep sharp ahead of hunting season without burning any powder Some hunters never practice with their firearms until the weekend before opening day, when they take it out and shoot a few rounds to ensure it’s still sighted in. Even if the gun is still on, the hunter’s skills might not be. Shooting skills are perishable, but currently, firing a few rounds can cost you. The ammo shortage continues, and it’s making it difficult for hunters to not only find ammunition, but afford to buy it when they do find it. If you’re the hunter who only has a box or two stashed away, you’ll want to make every shot count, which means there’s not much wiggle room for range practice. Luckily, there are still ways to sharpen your shooting skills without sending a bullet downrange. 1. Dry Firing It’s OK to dry fire most firearms. Dry firing means pulling the trigger without a bullet in the chamber, and it won’t hurt most mode

3 Tactics for Hunting Monster Black Bears Which of the Three Is Your Favorite Method? Like skinning cats, there's more than one way to hunt for bears. For those that tell you bear hunting is just too easy and unchallenging, they've probably never hunted the majestic black and colored bruisers. The basic descriptions of the various types or styles of bear hunting are covered here in this article. My professional bear hunting career began with hound hunting, so let‘s look at that method first. Hunting with Hounds Hound hunting requires the use of a highly trained pack of hounds that have the ability to smell the ground, air and brush in order to track a bear wherever he might go. Once a track is found, the guide, who is usually an expert at reading hound behavior, will let one dog out to test the track. He will know by the dog‘s reactions if the track is good, and if it is, he will let one or two more dogs loose to assist in the tracking. Some guides will let all the dogs go which could

Tips for Hunting Fox Squirrels Tactics for hunting our largest tree squirrel aren’t the same as for more common gray squirrels “Let’s go chase after a fox squirrel.” Those were the last words I remember my friend Hunter saying to me before we wandered down the logging road that cut through the top of Brush Mountain. I was cramming my brain with communication law court cases for an exam. He knew exactly how to escape the books. In a sudden dart down the mountainside, Hunter vanished into the fall foliage. I scuffled through the leaves behind him the best I could in rubber boots to find him encouraging me to hurry. He handed me the .22 Magnum. “It’s a fox squirrel,” Hunter whispered. The squirrel was frozen high up in an oak tree. I aimed the gun to the sky. It took me too long to steady my shooting position, and I was certain the squirrel was going to move. But he remained still as a statue, and at the shot, the squirrel fell through the autumn air. Its fur was auburn and delicate, and
