Review of Blazer BBF-97 (12*76/3006) I recently had the opportunity to try out the Blazer BBF-97 (12*76/3006), and I want to share my experience with this product. Overall, I found it to be a solid choice for both experienced hunters and those new to shooting. First and foremost, the build quality of the blazer is impressive. The materials used feel durable, and the design is straightforward, making it easy to handle. I particularly appreciated the comfortable grip, which helped manage recoil effectively during my rounds. In terms of performance, the BBF-97 proved to be reliable and consistent. The accuracy was commendable, delivering tight groups even at varying distances. I found that it performed well under different weather conditions, which is always a plus for outdoor activities. However, one aspect that I feel could be improved is the weight of the blazer. While the heft can contribute to stability during shooting, it might be cumbersome for prolonged use or for those who pr

When is the right time to restrict your aging hunting dog from the field? With shaking hands and nervous anticipation, I slipped the GPS collar around Winchester’s neck and felt the subtle trembling always present prior to launch. For a moment, I considered leaving the collar in the truck, knowing my big running partner wouldn’t be running strong enough for me to fear him going over the edge of nowhere, one of the defining characteristics of our 12-year relationship. He sat quietly, except for the gentle thumping of his tail on the seat, while I assembled the Winchester 101, 12-gauge, I had also considered leaving in the truck. But, Winchester knew that the gun and the collar meant a hunt, and their absence meant the outing was only a walk. The March morning had dawned clear and cold, suggesting the snow cover in the mountains would present a crust that would support Winchester’s weight. Opportunities for the perfect conditions that once were a luxury had become a necessity for Winc

25 Tips for Dove Hunters 1. Pick the Right Gun Dove hunting is supposed to be fun, and if you enjoy shooting family heirlooms or featherlight .410s at doves, who am I to tell you not to? But if your idea of fun is hitting more doves, choose a 12- or 20-gauge with some heft and at least a 28-inch barrel. A longer, heavier gun swings smoothly, points surely and soaks up recoil. The best dove shooting I did this past year was with a 12-gauge sporting clays gun. 2. Stock Up On Shells Ammunition is available again, and there’s no reason to run out opening day, which I have actually done. Begging shells from people in the field is just embarrassing. Field or target loads of Nos. 7½ or 8 lead or 6 or 7 steel work. Steel loads kill fine, by the way. Lighter loads, with less shot and lower velocities, kick a lot less than heavy, high-speed stuff, and you will shoot a lot in no more padding than a T-shirt. Be sure your ammo will cycle your semi-auto, but other than that, lighter is better. 3.

12 Reasons Why Your Venison Tastes Like Hell Is your deer meat tough, dry, and gamy? It shouldn’t be. Check out this list of 12 deer-butchering sins to find out why your venison tastes bad — and how to make it better I’m often amazed at the people, deer hunters included, who tell me they just don’t like venison. That statement is usually followed by a qualifier: it’s tough; it’s gamy; it’s dry. And so on. I’ve eaten a lot of good deer meat. But I’ve eaten some really bad deer meat, too. I’m only a self-trained butcher, but I’ve been processing five to six deer a season for the better part of 20 years. When it comes to cooking, I’m no Scott Leysath or Michael Pendley, either, but my wife, kid, and I do eat venison in some form two or three meals per week, year-round. I think we eat pretty good. Some things consistently make venison really tasty. And some things will ruin the flavor, too. Here are a dozen of the worst offenders. 1. Poor Field Care In the real world of hunting, things

Browning X-Bolt chambered in .30-06 review Alright, here's a breakdown of my experience with a Browning X-Bolt chambered in .30-06, particularly focusing on the upgrades of an aluminum bedding block and a Mastergun stock. I'm coming at this from the perspective of someone who hunts regularly and tinkers with their rifles quite a bit. Overall Impression Browning X-Bolt: The X-Bolt, out of the box, is a solid hunting rifle. Reliable, accurate enough for most hunting situations, and relatively lightweight. However, like most factory rifles, it has room for improvement, particularly in terms of consistency and feel. That's where the bedding block and the Mastergun stock came in. Browning X-Bolt (Base Rifle): Pros: Smooth Bolt Action: The 60-degree bolt lift is quick and easy, especially when you need a fast follow-up shot. It's definitely a step up from some of the more clunky bolt actions out there. Lightweight Browning X-Bolt: Carrying this rifle through the woods all day is ma

🗓️ 12 декабря в народном календаре — Парамон Зимоуказатель Наши предки говорили: «Пришел Парамон — снег с крыши вон». В этот день крестьяне чистили снег со своих крыш. Нужно было делать это веником или метлой: считалось, что от лопаты крыша прохудится. В этот день нежелательно подметать внутри дома: считалось, что так можно вымести из дома благополучие. Особенно нельзя подметать разными вениками: это внесет раздрай и непонимание между родственниками. А еще сегодня не стоит идти на поводу у вредных привычек: иначе темные силы увидят слабость характера и не останут;
