I am going to cover some things that have helped me choose the perfect bow setup for me to hunt the backcountry of Alaska. I am no expert by any means, but I have hunted a lot throughout Alaska and the Lower 48 and this is what has been the all-around best setup for me. There are several factors that go into making a choice for the setup you want to bowhunt with. The first and sometimes the hardest thing you have to choose is your bow! There's magic in the air. The first frosts of the year greet us each morning, and the tops of the highest peaks are dusted with snow. The colours are changing, and the Yukon's landscape is something to behold. It's moose hunting season, and I'm excited. What you'll see in these images is how tall the buckbrush in the valley is. You will have a few challenges if you want to stand in here and hunt moose. If you're lucky, the brush will make it impossible to see any bulls or cows further than a few hundred yards. Taking a shot? It's almost impossible unless the bull comes in hot to your call. I much prefer getting up on the hillsides around the valley where I can call effectively and glass massive areas.
