Vector Optics Continental X6 5-30x56 Review I've spent the last few months putting the Vector Optics Continental X6 5-30x56 MBR FFP through its paces, mounted on my trusty rifle with the included one-piece Picatinny mount. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything, just giving you the straight dope from a hunter who actually uses his gear. Vector Optics Continental X6 5-30x56 - The Good: Crystal Clear Glass: Seriously, the glass is impressive for the price. Edge-to-edge clarity is excellent, and I was able to pick out details in low light situations better than I expected. This is a huge plus when you're trying to identify game at dawn or dusk. First Focal Plane (FFP) Reticle: This is a must-have for me. The MBR reticle is well-designed, not too cluttered, and allows for accurate holdovers at any magnification. I really appreciate how the reticle subtensions stay consistent, making long-range shots much more predictable. Solid Build Quality: The scope feels robust and well-made. The tu

Rat hunter Dogs. Ratters. During the First World War, terriers were especially appreciated - ideal rat hunters (ratters), which infested the trenches. A terrier is a dog of any one of many breeds or landraces of the terrier type, which are typically small, wiry, game, and fearless. An ideal mix of skills for a ratter dog. Nowadays, it is believed that cats are the most suitable animal for fighting rats. Dogs, in turn, are able to challenge this misconception. There are a sufficient number of breeds in the world that were bred specifically for hunting rats (ratters). A ratter is any dog used to capture and kill rats and other similar parasites. In many countries, there are specialized breeds of rat catchers. A typical ratter is small or medium-sized, with short and smooth hair, but dogs of a wide variety of breeds can be used. The use of rat-catcher dogs is widely considered the most environmentally friendly, humane and effective method of killing rodents. A typical ratter dog is sm

Review of the Pard SA 62-45 LRF Thermal Scope I recently had the opportunity to test the Pard SA 62-45 LRF thermal scope, and I wanted to share my honest impressions based on my experience. First off, the image quality is quite impressive for a thermal scope in this price range. The resolution is clear, and the ability to distinguish between various heat signatures is a notable feature. Whether in complete darkness or during dusk conditions, this scope performs admirably, allowing for effective target acquisition. The built-in LRF (Laser Range Finder) has been a game-changer for my shooting accuracy. It provides quick and reliable distance readings, which is crucial for long-range shots. The range-finding functionality works well, although I found that it can sometimes struggle with reflective surfaces, such as metal objects. One of my favorite aspects of the Pard SA 62-45 is its user-friendly interface. The controls are intuitive, and I quickly figured out how to navigate the diff

Hunting Up Above the Clouds It is the view of many hunters that mountain hunts are the ultimate expression of hunting. Here you will be challenged at all levels. Physically, mentally, technically. with many long distance shots, and in your understanding of game behavior. At the same time it is difficult not to be smitten by the magic of the mountains and their wild beauty. Mountaineers often say that they become physically addicted to the mountains, something most mountain hunters wholeheartedly agree with. It is also up in the mountains that you can find many of the most sought after trophies win the world; Marco Polo-Sheep, Dall Sheep/Stone Sheep, Snow Sheep, Blue Sheep, Mountain Goats perhaps the mighty Markhor or one of the many sub species of Ibex; Asiatic, European and Spanish. One thing that most of these species have in common is that they live in some of the most isolated parts of the planet, such as Kyrgyzstan, Alaska, Canada, Tajikistan or even the Himalaya. The 3 Most Expensive Hunts in North America If you’re saving up money for a once-in-a-lifetime dream adventure, why not shoot for the moon? If you had all the money in the world, what would you buy first? Most of us think for a few moments before answering. Some might go for a sports car. Others might tour Europe. How about a beachfront mansion with an elevator, movie theatre, pool, and private chef? But others might spend the money on hunting. Where would you go and what would you hunt for if cost were no obstacle? African elephant? New Zealand red stag? Spanish Ibex? Or, would you stick to North America, where we have more than two dozen big-game hunting opportunities? Some are very affordable and DIY friendly, but others require hunting with a guide and could cost tens of thousands of dollars. Yes, you read that correctly. Since we’re dreaming here, let’s look at the details. Miranda's Take I’ve been fortunate enough to hunt several different species across 16 states, but none
