Britská asociace pro střelbu a ochranu přírody (BASC) oznámila, že první tři legislativní změny významné pro chov spárkaté zvěře ve Skotsku vstoupily v platnost ke konci října. Došlo k tomu po konzultacích se skotskou vládou probíhajících od začátku roku 2023. První ze změn je, že od 21. října 2023 byla zrušena omezená doba lovu samců všech druhů jelenovitých (jelen evropský, daněk evropský, sika, srnec obecný). Znamená to, že jejich odstřel nyní ve Skotsku může probíhat po celý rok. Přestože BASC byla proti tomuto návrhu, uznává, že může odstranit určité překážky v managementu populací jelenovitých. BASC však i nadále prosazuje, aby v zimních měsících bylo prioritou dosažení plánovaného odstřelu holé zvěře. Cílem skotské vlády je snížit škody působené zvěří při obnově lesa a celková redukce stavů zvěře. Protiargumenty však upozorňovaly na to, že opatření může mít naopak kontraproduktivní účinek, kdy subjekty hospodařící se zvěří kvůli němu mohou zanedbávat odstřel samičí zvěře, jejíž

K roku 2017 se jediná životaschopná populace tetřeva hlušce v Česku nacházela na Šumavě, kde se vyskytovalo přes 90 % všech tetřevů na českém území. Počet tetřevů na Šumavě zaznamenal během 20. století prudký pokles, který dosáhl dna počátkem 90. let, kdy se počty odhadovaly na něco přes 100. Od té doby však populace pomalu roste. Jako hlavní příčina růstu se uvádí nárůst bezzásahových zón (asi 200 km², přičemž celková rozloha potenciálně vhodného habitatu na Šumavě je kolem 500 km²). Nárůstu populace pomohl i zákaz lovu tetřevů (1978 v Československu, 1973 v Bavorsku) a vyhlášení Národního parku Šumava v roce 1991. Na nárůstu šumavské populace se mohlo podepsat i vypuštění tetřevů odchovaných v zajetí, ke kterému v letech 1985–2000 docházelo na německé straně v Bavorském lese a blízkém okolí. Zatímco mezi lety 1985–2000 bylo na německé straně vypuštěno 1258 tetřevů, na české straně bylo mezi lety 1997–1999 vypuštěno 118 jedinců. V roce 2010 počet šumavských tetřevů narostl na cca 300

Historie lovu losa evropského (Alces alces) Los evropský je největší zvěří jelenovitou na našem území. Z historického hlediska byl ale los pro naše kronikáře a historiky nezajímavý. Výskyt losa v Čechách se začal důsledněji mapovat až po roce 1957, kdy u nás docházelo k častým výskytům losa. Prvotní zmínka o výskytu losa pochází z druhé poloviny 16. století. První losi byli chování v menší obůrce při oboře poděbradské, kde měli svoji ošetřovatelku paní Maruši z Polabce. Chovaní losi pocházeli z nedalekého Polska. Odtud si je nechal poslat císař Ferdinand I. v roce 1563 byla poděbradská obůrka obohacena o další dva kusy losů, kteří pocházeli opět z Polska. Jejich původ pocházel přímo od Kateřiny, královny polské, která byla sestra arciknížete Ferdinanda. Po jeho smrti daroval nastupující císař Maxmilián jednoho losa bratru arciknížeti Ferdinandovi na Křivoklát. Další kusy losí zvěře k nám byli přivezeni například z Litvy. Africké muzeum lovu Dr. Emila Holuba Mezi významné myslivecké památky v ČR je zařazeno Africké muzeum Dr. Emila Holuba. Holice jsou rodištěm našeho nejznámějšího cestovatele Dr. Emila Holuba. V roce 1966 postavili místní obyvatelé svému slavnému rodákovi památník, jako projev úcty a obdivu. Základem sbírek se stal dar Růženy Holubové, manželky Dr. Emila Holuba. Ta věnovala Holicím vybavení manželovy vídeňské pracovny, dále sbírku knih a mnoho dalších exponátů, které Dr. Holub přivezl z Afriky. Památník Dr. Emila Holuba fungoval v nezměněné podobě až do konce roku 2010. Poté byl uzavřen a proběhla v něm celková rekonstrukce. Autorem nové expozice Afrického muzea Dr. Emila Holuba je Arch. David Vávra. Život a cesty Dr. Emila Holuba jsou v ní přiblíženy daleko podrobnějí, své místo v ní má i cestavetlova manželka Růžena Holubová. Saluki je prokazatelně jedním z nejstarších psích plemen. První nástěnné malby, znázorňující stejně vypadající psy, pocházejí už z období 4000 let př. n.l. z oblasti dnešního Egypta. Mocní Egypťané byli vyobrazeni ve společnosti těchto psů. Spolu s kočovnými beduíny se Saluka postupně rozšířila po jejich obchodních cestách nejen do Súdánu, ale přes oblast Iráku až do Číny. Nomádi používali na svých cestách psy k lovu gazel, lišek a zajíců. Přestože muslimové psy pohrdají a považují je za nečisté, dostalo se Saluce zvláštní výjimky. Kočovníci si těchto psů velmi vážili a umožňovali jim spát ve svých stanech. Do Evropy se Saluki poprvé dostaly pravděpodobně s křižáky, vracejícími se z války na blízkém východě. Do Anglie byli první zástupci toho plemene přivezeni v roce 1840, ale s jejich cíleným chovem započala až roku 1895 Florence Amhest, která si přivezla první chovný pár. Asijský kozorožec (představen v Severní Americe) Capra sibirica POPIS (muž) Výška ramen 37-42 palců (95-107 cm). Hmotnost 175-220 liber (80-100 kg). Obecná barva je šedohnědá se světlejší spodní částí a tmavším (někdy slabým) hřbetním pruhem. Na zimním kabátě je lehká sedlovka. Vousy na bradě jsou dlouhé a špičaté. Samčí rohy jsou velké a působivé, zakřivují se do tří čtvrtin kruhu a zužují se do relativně štíhlých špiček. Na přední straně jsou relativně ploché, s dobře definovanými příčnými hřebeny nebo knoflíky. Samice jsou mnohem menší než samci, nemají vousy a mají krátké tenké rohy. DISTRIBUCE Volně se chovající v kaňonu kanadské řeky v Novém Mexiku. Také na soukromých pozemcích v Texasu. POZNÁMKY Pochází z hor střední Asie od Afghánistánu a Himalájí na severovýchod po Mongolsko.
