How to keep your pet summer fit. A veterinarian who sits at Pet Mall and Murphy Veterinary Hospital in GD Block and Pooches N More in Lake Town, shares tips on pet care. 1. Walks- Keep the temperature in mind when walking your pets. Given how hot it has been getting, it is advised to walk them early in the morning or late in the evening. This will help prevent heat strokes and footpad burning. If they undergo excessive panting it is better to keep them indoors. Keep them in air-conditioned rooms as per the requirement of the day. 2. Drinking water- Ample clean drinking water should be provided to your pet to avoid dehydration. 3. Ticks and fleas- Ectoparasites, especially ticks and fleas, are a big threat in summer months. Heavy bodied and long-legged, with a drooping nose, moose (Alces alces) are the largest members of the deer family. They range in color from golden brown to almost black, depending upon the season and the age of the animal. Full-grown males (bulls) stand almost 6 ft (1.8 m) tall at the shoulder, and males in prime condition weigh from 1,200 to 1,600 lbs (542 –725 kg). Adult females are somewhat smaller and weigh 800 to 1,300 lbs (364 – 591 kg). A 1,600-lb (726-kg) moose will dress out at about 950 lbs (431 kg), yielding approximately 500 lbs (227 kg) of meat. Alaskans and nonresidents annually harvest 6,000 to 8,000 moose, which translates into about 3.5 million pounds of usable meat. Only bull moose have antlers. The largest moose antlers in North America come from Alaska, the Yukon Territory, and the Northwest Territories of Canada. Trophy class bulls are found throughout Alaska, but the largest come from the western portion of the state. Moose occasionally produce trophy-size antle

Hvem gemmer

In Chile, an Animal Whose Numbers Please No One CERRO SOMBRERO, Chile — The guidebooks for Tierra del Fuego somehow fail to mention the gunfire. From the mist-shrouded Patagonian steppe to the dense beech forests, shots pierce the air here for months on end each year. Hunters armed with telescopic rifles roam this archipelago at the southern tip of South America in pickup trucks as they pick off their prey: the guanaco. Humans have already hunted the guanaco, a wild cousin of the llama, out of existence across big swaths of the continent. While hunting the animal here is legal, the culling of Tierra del Fuego’s guanaco herds is setting off a fierce debate over the fragile recovery of a native species and the sway of powerful ranching and logging interests, which contend that rising numbers of guanacos are competing with sheep for pasture and foraging in commercial hardwood forests. “We’re witnessing a grotesque subordination to businessmen who view a creature of remarkable beauty a

I was taking a hike up a centennial 13er in the San Juans on Tuesday morning and was, uh, surprised to meet up with a couple of female moose on my path up. We had a stand off for about 5 minutes when it was clear at least one of them was NOT getting off the path. I had to bushwhack up the side of the mountain about 30 yards and make my way by them. THEN, as I was coming home late that afternoon? I met HIM about a mile from my car. How lucky can one guy get? It’s a spooky feeling when there’s nothing between you and them except empty space. The moon was so bright that morning. And I ran into this cabin on the way up and down. Someone has put some money into it because the roof is metal and newish. The rafters and main beams inside are also newish. Heck, one of the joist hangers even has price tag on it. I just happened to be sitting in the cabin on my way back to my car when I heard what sounded like an explosion and a lot of rockfall. I ran outside the cabin in time to see dust clouds

Setup trail cameras around major summer food sources (more on this below) and on trails to those food sources. Find tips on how to hang trail cameras properly, here. Trail camera pictures are only as useful as you make them. At the most basic level, they tell you if nice bucks are around. But what you’re really trying to figure out is where those nice bucks are heading, where they’re coming from, and where they might be vulnerable. To do that, you’ve got to really read the pictures, not just flip through them. For example, look to see if one of your target bucks is hanging out with a bachelor group of smaller bucks. That way, even if you don’t keep getting photos of the big buck, but capture shots of the smaller bucks, you can still gamble on the big buck’s general whereabouts (some of the wariest bucks are good at avoiding cameras). Years ago I got a trail camera shot of a buck with muddy legs. That told me he probably crossed a nearby swamp before coming out to feed. https://www.yo

Choose the Best Knife for Deer Hunting Should you go with a fixed-blade or a folder? A lifelong deer hunter weighs in with his preferences You can gut and skin a buck with a penknife or a Bowie or any blade in between, but to do the job right, select a tool designed with the deer hunter in mind. Fixed Blade with Gut-Hook If you haven’t tried a fixed-blade knife with a gut-hook, you should. Roll a buck onto his back and use the knife point to make a small incision in the white hair and abdominal wall of the lower belly. Turn the knife over, insert the sharp hook into the slit and zipper the animal open up to the sternum. With a hook, there’s no exposed steel tip to pierce a deer’s paunch and make a mess, or clip your finger. These days it’s vital that you stay knick-free. A Michigan hunter recently was infected with bovine tuberculosis after he sliced his hand while dressing a buck, and there are other deer diseases out there. Be careful and wear rubber gloves. Once you’ve finished the

Celý ceremoniál má samozřejmě svá pravidla a zvyklosti. Přijímání mezi myslivce většinou provádí myslivecký hospodář, společně s předsedou MS a nejstarším myslivcem. Na stůl vyzdobený úlomky se položí myslivcova zbraň, borlice, tesák a přijímací glejt s myslivcovým jménem. Na zahájení celého aktu se troubí „Pozor! Pozor

Beretta Ultralight: Featherweight Power for Upland Bird Hunters For the upland bird hunter, every ounce counts. Hours spent traversing fields and forests demand a shotgun that won't weigh you down. Enter the Beretta Ultralight, a 12-gauge (and occasionally 20-gauge) that redefines "carry gun" without sacrificing the performance expected from a Beretta. Why the Ultralight Stands Out: Reduced Weight, Real Impact: The Ultralight achieves its name through a meticulously engineered alloy receiver. This shaves significant weight compared to steel-framed shotguns, typically bringing the overall weight to around 6.6 pounds for a 12-gauge. This translates to less fatigue during long hunts, allowing for quicker shouldering and improved accuracy. Beretta Reliability: Don't mistake lightness for fragility. The Ultralight is still a Beretta, built with the company's renowned attention to detail and durable components. The proven Beretta action ensures reliable cycling, even in demanding fie

A Birdwatcher’s Paradise at Lake Narach Lake Narach and its surrounding national park are a true haven for birds. Over 230 species have been recorded here, with around 185 nesting in the area. In spring and summer, the region becomes a natural symphony: larks sing overhead, starlings chatter in the trees, and deep in the reeds, the elusive bittern calls with a sound like someone blowing across a bottle. On the lake itself, you might spot coots, great crested grebes, mallards, mute swans, goldeneyes, gulls, and even the rare smew—only about 15–25 pairs nest in all of Belarus! Above the wetlands, cranes and marsh harriers soar, while the forests echo with the tapping of woodpeckers and the songs of tits, chaffinches, and thrushes. Lake Narach isn’t just a scenic retreat—it’s a vibrant home for countless winged residents. Bring your binoculars and a bit of patience, and you might just catch a glimpse of something extraordinary.

Some countries where you can find these animals are South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Angola, Congo. Meerkats inhabit open lands, almost devoid of trees. They can be found in areas of savannahs and open plains, while the animals prefer to settle in areas with hard ground.
