In the United Kingdom, the term hunting with no qualification generally refers to hunting with hounds, e.g. normally fox hunting, stag (deer) hunting, beagling, or minkhunting, whereas shooting is the shooting of game birds. What is called deer hunting elsewhere is deer stalking. According to the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) over a million people a year participate in shooting, including stalking, shooting, hunting, clay shooting and target shooting. You can Texas-rig your plastics when fishing around brush or heavy cover but, again, stay with a fairly light hook. The VMC WM worm hook is a good one. In any case, always tie your hook with a Palomar knot. Not only does this make for a strong union, but the Palomar knot allows the hook to stand straight out on the line, which is essential to rigging a drop-shot. Also, when tying, use an extra bit of line so that you have a big tag end, which you’d normally clip off. But don't. Post: 13 September 18:54
How do cats learn to hunt? Cats learn to hunt the same way most mammals learn things – from their mother. Hunting is a great skill which needs to be learned first, which is almost always taught by their mother or through play with their litter mates. As your cat grows older, they may take this new found skill outside and eventually start bringing prey home, which may be anything from mice and birds to larger prey such as rabbits. If you have an indoor cat on the other hand, they may display these cat hunting behaviours through playing with their toys.Post: 10 August 11:12
Cyclists hospitalised after hornet attack in France What are hornets? Hornets are the largest of the wasp family native to Europe. Like bees, hornets live in large colonies with a single queen and thousands of workers and build their nests from tree fibres. While hornets usually prefer to avoid contact with humans, they will sting as a defence mechanism in response to having their nest disturbed, and can be aggressive near their food source too. Hornets hunt insects like beetles, moths, dragonflies and wasps. They will also eat rotting fruit they might find on the ground.Post: 9 August 18:21

After my weekend training in Moscow shooting club, I remembered an outstanding meeting. It took place last September at the ADIHEX 2024, Abu Dhabi hunting exhibition. On a photo one of the fastest shooters on the planet, Raniero Testa. He had already set several world records and continues to surprise with new ones. Only after trying yourself in some kind of sport or art, you can really understand how difficult it is. What kind of effort and dedication does it take to become the best in what you do. I have great respect for all real professionals regardless of the type of activity. Raniero Testa (Italy) holds the record by throwing 17 sports clay targets with his hands and smashing them with 17 shots. And that's not all: the clay targets were hit in a record time of 2.08 seconds. If you count it, it turns out that the combined Raniero/Winchester SX4 produced a rate of fire of 490 rounds per minute – higher than the rate of fire of the M3 “Grease Gun" submachine gun!! A young brown bear searches for food at low tide, looking for crabs or small fish under rocks. A bear walks along the shore eating crabs and barnacles at low tide and grasses in Glendale Cove, British Columbia, Canada. Brown bears are one of the most powerful land mammals. The bear's front paws, armed with powerful claws, are a universal tool with which the beast digs a den, digs up the holes of marmots and ground squirrels, turns over rocks that are too heavy for humans, breaks trees, and catches fish. Claws are excellent ground hooks. Thanks to them, bears can easily move along steep slopes, where it is difficult for a person to stay. Grizzly bears are one of the strongest land mammals, their strength is comparable to that of 3-5 humans. They can easily flip over large rocks in search of food. In the video, a young bear turns over a rock with one paw to find small fish and crustaceans hiding at low tide.Post: 14 January 17:51
Behemoth ( hippopotamus ) has been studied quite a bit. It's not easy to watch this cautious giant, constantly sitting up to his ears in his favorite swamp. What we know for sure from the Hippos is t that you can't lose weight by eating grass, salads and walking in the fresh air ))) An adult male hippopotamus is 4 meters long and 4 tons of live weight. That is, the mass of two cars, this is not a sheep sneezed! By its size, the hippopotamus, overtaking the buffalo, shares with the rhinoceros an honorable second place (after the elephant) among land animals. The name in Hebrew is בההוו (behemoth) - "terrible beasts". The second, more learned name is ἱπποπόταμος (hippopotamos), which literally means "river horse" in Greek. The hippopotamus is considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. An embittered animal can kill a person in a matter of minutes, trampling him with its feet or inflicting fatal wounds with its fangs. The behemoth is also strong in the water: it is capaPost: 14 January 11:37
Inuit (Aleutian) in a park made from the insides of a sea lion. Nome, Alaska. The year is 1900. Arctic hunters most often make trousers and shoes from the skins of marine mammals, and outerwear from deer skins and warm it with fox, squirrel or arctic fox fur. Among the hunters of Chukotka, rovduga is widely used – suede made of elk or deer skins. Eskimos and Aleutian sea hunters sew unique, authentic waterproof camel lace anoraks. We all use lightweight waterproof raincoats. No fisherman or hunter can do without them, mushroom pickers and outdoor vacationers always take raincoats with them. Modern raincoats are made of plastic or a special impregnated material. However, among the northern peoples, such cloaks are made from natural materials, from the insides of walruses, seals and sea lions. Lynx hunting requires careful preparation If you intend to go lynx hunting, you should start tracking lynx movements immediately after the first snowfall. This way the hunters can find out the number of lynxes in the area and the structure of the population. A keen eye is needed in deciphering lynx tracks, as the lynx likes to take advantage of hard pathways formed on the snow during soft snow season. In lynx hunting one hunter acts as a beater chasing the animal towards the shooters, or you can use a dog. Dog breeds that like to go after foxes will usually also eagerly chase lynxes. Big game dogs with pointed ears are also well suited for lynx hunting. A shotgun loaded with 4 mm shot is a good weapon for the purpose. A snow suit allows a shooter to better blend in with the wintry landscape. The lynx has excellent hearing. One should always remember this during a hunt. The shooters must remain as quiet as possible as they lie in wait. The lynx picks up gun loading sounds, the creakinPost: 29 November 18:15
