Texas The second largest U.S. state, Texas covers an astounding 171,891,725 acres (Source: Beef 2 Live). Often thought of by outsiders as one giant desert, the Lone Star State is actually very eco-diverse. In fact, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department recognizes 10 different eco-regions within the state. I recently discussed Texas’s deer herd and hunting opportunities with Alan Cain, White-tailed Deer Program Leader with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Judge Issues Injunction Blocking Wisconsin Fall Wolf Hunt A judge on Friday (10/22/2021) halted Wisconsin's fall wolf season two weeks before hunters were set to take to the woods, siding with wildlife advocacy groups who argued holding the hunt would be unconstitutional. Dane County Circuit Judge Jacob Frost issued a temporary injunction halting the season, which was set to begin November 6. The order comes as part of a lawsuit that a coalition of wildlife advocacy groups filed in August seeking to stop the hunt and invalidate a state law authorizing annual seasons. Among other things, the coalition argued that the season is illegal because the (Wisconsin) Department of Natural Resources hasn't updated its regulations setting season parameters, and has been relying on an emergency rule put in place shortly after then-Gov. They range in color from golden brown to almost black, depending upon the season and the age of the animal. Day 2 of 5. Oklahoma. I packed up camp on the lake and headed to the river. The water was all the way up to 52 degrees after being in the low 30s the week before! I setup on a deep hole (20ft. deep) with a big inside eddy. I caught a 3 pound dinner cat within 2 minutes of setting up, then another small fish 2 minutes after that, then this surprise January Flathead about 5 minutes later! 3 fish within the first 15 minutes was a great start then it died down. After a couple hours and some missed bites I put 2 rods on the downstream side of the hole in about 6 feet of water and shortly after I got a good blue! I had fried catfish for dinner and slept like a baby with no bites the rest of the night. I love camping on the river and not just observing wildlife but being apart of it. From Coyotes howling to wild pigs squealing to big blue cats biting the crap out of me I love it!

25 Tips for Dove Hunters 1. Pick the Right Gun Dove hunting is supposed to be fun, and if you enjoy shooting family heirlooms or featherlight .410s at doves, who am I to tell you not to? But if your idea of fun is hitting more doves, choose a 12- or 20-gauge with some heft and at least a 28-inch barrel. A longer, heavier gun swings smoothly, points surely and soaks up recoil. The best dove shooting I did this past year was with a 12-gauge sporting clays gun. 2. Stock Up On Shells Ammunition is available again, and there’s no reason to run out opening day, which I have actually done. Begging shells from people in the field is just embarrassing. Field or target loads of Nos. 7½ or 8 lead or 6 or 7 steel work. Steel loads kill fine, by the way. Lighter loads, with less shot and lower velocities, kick a lot less than heavy, high-speed stuff, and you will shoot a lot in no more padding than a T-shirt. Japan Hunter Girls 代表理事 / 高野 恵理子 飼っていた犬の健康面で鹿肉が良いことを知り、愛する犬と共にできる狩猟の道を選び、その奥深さに惹かれ南足柄に移住。持ち前のバイタリティーと狩猟への意欲的な取り組みから、若くして猟隊の役員と、多数の猟犬を操り勢子を勤めている。狩猟の現状を見つめる中で、女性や若い世代の狩猟者の呼び込みと育成が必須だと感じ、2018年に神奈川県の女性狩猟者のグループを結成。2023年6月にジビエ処理加工施設KIWOSUKUの稼働を始める。2022年に設立した一般社団法人 木救（林業）と狩猟による一貫した森林保全を目指した取り組みを行いながら狩猟見学ツアーや林業体験などの活動も行っている。第一種銃猟免許、第一種狩猟免状所持。狩猟歴は2014年から。使用銃はミロクMS2000-D フィールド銃（スラッグ銃身）。 高たんぱく低カロリーで、女性の間でも人気が高まっているジビエ。野生の鳥獣を精肉にして食べるおしゃれなグルメ……というイメージですが、なかには駆除対象の肉を使ったジビエもあることを知っていますか？　現在、日本各地で自然環境や農家を守るために、イノシシやシカを狩る害獣駆除が実施されています。しかし、食べ手不足でそのまま廃棄されてしまうことも。 消費者にできることは一体何なのか？　狩猟を通じてのSDGsや地域活性化、女性や若手ハンターの活躍の場を提供している「一般社団法人Japan Hunter Girls（以下、JHG）」代表の高野恵理子さんに教えていただきました。 ジビエ（gibier）とはフランス語で「狩猟により手に入れた野生鳥獣の肉」の意味。最近では、フレンチやイタリアンレストランを中心に取り扱いが増え、専門店も生まれています。テレビや雑誌、SNSでもおしゃれなジビエ料理が紹介され、女性たちの関心も高まっています。 何と言っても、野山を駆けまわったシカやイノシシの肉は、ヘルシーで女性にうれしい成分が豊富。シカ肉は、牛肉と比べると脂質が1/6でカロリーが半分以下。イノシシ肉は豚肉と比べると鉄分が約4倍、ビタミンB12が約3倍もあるといわれています（100gあたり）。 「ジビエの一番の魅力は、お肉の味が濃くて、野生の力強さを感じられるところです。私たちが普段食べている牛や豚、鳥といった畜産食品は、品質管理が徹底
