Bober spada med krznene živali, ki se naselijo na bregovih rek in potokov, na jezerih. Živali gradijo hišice (bobrove) iz podrtih dreves in vej, ki povzročajo dvig gladine vode v rezervoarjih. V vročem vremenu gredo bobri na jase z moteno travnato odejo ob obali, bližje mrazu pa se v bližini koč začnejo pojavljati olupljeni deli lubja na drevesih z zlomljenimi vejami. Bobre še posebej privlačita trepetlika in jelša, čeprav tudi druga drevesa ne ostanejo neopažena. Najuspešnejši je lov na bobra ponoči, saj živali v tem času pridejo ven po hrano.Post: 2 August 11:16

Saluki je prokazatelně jedním z nejstarších psích plemen. První nástěnné malby, znázorňující stejně vypadající psy, pocházejí už z období 4000 let př. n.l. z oblasti dnešního Egypta. Mocní Egypťané byli vyobrazeni ve společnosti těchto psů. Spolu s kočovnými beduíny se Saluka postupně rozšířila po jejich obchodních cestách nejen do Súdánu, ale přes oblast Iráku až do Číny. Nomádi používali na svých cestách psy k lovu gazel, lišek a zajíců. Přestože muslimové psy pohrdají a považují je za nečisté, dostalo se Saluce zvláštní výjimky. Kočovníci si těchto psů velmi vážili a umožňovali jim spát ve svých stanech. Do Evropy se Saluki poprvé dostaly pravděpodobně s křižáky, vracejícími se z války na blízkém východě. Do Anglie byli první zástupci toho plemene přivezeni v roce 1840, ale s jejich cíleným chovem započala až roku 1895 Florence Amhest, která si přivezla první chovný pár. Samec in samica imata sivkasto rjavo barvo zgornjega dela telesa in svetlo dno (bližje beli). Omeniti velja, da je moški v povprečju nekoliko težji od moškega: 100-150 g v primerjavi z 90-130 g, dolžina telesa doseže 30 cm, ima dolg in raven tanek kljun. Tako kot v primeru pastirskega kljukača se tudi ta poskuša držati mokrišč na obrobju vodnih teles. Včasih se kljukač naseli na jasah in zaraščenih šotnih barjih. A New Jersey bow hunter established a new state record on Tuesday morning by harvesting a 770-pound black bear in Morris County. Even though the U.S. Department of Agriculture has now reversed its ill-timed Sept. 2 ban on importing game birds taken in Canada, waterfowl hunters throughout North America could still be impacted by the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza in migratory game birds during the coming months. Following a new ruling issued by the USDA on Sept. 12, American hunters are allowed to bring game bird meat back from Canada, but the birds must be cleaned, stored and transported as follows (which is different than how many people field-dress waterfowl): Viscera (innards), head, neck, feet, skin and one wing must be removed. Feathers must be removed, with the exception of one wing — as required by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for species identification. They range in color from golden brown to almost black, depending upon the season and the age of the animal. ORANGE IS A NEW BLACK Stay safe when hunting by following these tips: -Check weather reports before embarking on a hunting trip. -Tell someone where you will be hunting and when you will return. -Be familiar with the area you want to hunt. Bring a map and compass. -Carry a basic survival kit and be prepared for an unexpected overnight stay in the field. The survival kit should contain a rope, a knife, water, waterproof matches, an emergency shelter, and first aid supplies. -Dress properly and be prepared for the worst possible conditions. -Wear hunter orange as your outermost gear so that you are visible to other hunters. HOW TO STAY WARM WHILE HUNTING Cold weather means whitetails are going to be on their feet more than normal. So, you have choices to make. Stay at home and watch hunting shows on TV, go to the field and be miserable or embrace the cold and learn how to make the most of it. I have lived in North Dakota for 26 years. In that time, I have hunted some very harsh conditions. It’s never an easy hunt but the rewards can make it well worth the effort.
