КТО ТАКИЕ ЛИЛИГРЫ И СУЩЕСТВУЮТ ЛИ ОНИ? Международный день тигра учреждён на "Тигрином саммите" (или — Международном форуме) по проблемам, связанным с сохранением тигров на Земле. Он проходил в Санкт-Петербурге в 2010 году. На форуме присутствовали представители России, Китая, Малайзии, Вьетнама, Таиланда, Индии и других стран, где встречаются эти хищники. Всего в мире обитают 6 подвидов Panthera tigris. Ещё три подвида вымерли в XX веке из-за охоты и уничтожения естественных ареалов. На территории России встречается одна популяция подвида Panthera tigris tigris — амурский или уссурийский тигр. Сейчас численность дикой кошки в нашей стране оценивается экспертами в 580–600 особей.
