K roku 2017 se jediná životaschopná populace tetřeva hlušce v Česku nacházela na Šumavě, kde se vyskytovalo přes 90 % všech tetřevů na českém území. Počet tetřevů na Šumavě zaznamenal během 20. století prudký pokles, který dosáhl dna počátkem 90. let, kdy se počty odhadovaly na něco přes 100. Od té doby však populace pomalu roste. Jako hlavní příčina růstu se uvádí nárůst bezzásahových zón (asi 200 km², přičemž celková rozloha potenciálně vhodného habitatu na Šumavě je kolem 500 km²). Nárůstu populace pomohl i zákaz lovu tetřevů (1978 v Československu, 1973 v Bavorsku) a vyhlášení Národního parku Šumava v roce 1991. Na nárůstu šumavské populace se mohlo podepsat i vypuštění tetřevů odchovaných v zajetí, ke kterému v letech 1985–2000 docházelo na německé straně v Bavorském lese a blízkém okolí. Браславские озера Национальный парк «Браславские озера» — гордость Беларуси. Когда-то 20 тысяч лет назад гигантский ледник оставил после себя россыпь удивительных озёр с прозрачной водой, соединнёных между собой речками и ручейками. Вокруг них раскинулись уникальные леса, в которых растёт порядка 2000 видов деревьев и кустарников. Говорят, что побывать здесь хоть раз должен каждый уважающий себя рыбак. В браславских озёрах можно поймать порядка тридцати видов рыб. Лучшее место для рыбалки на Браславщине — озера Дривяты, Струсто, Снуды. Правда, рыбалка здесь платная. С ценами можно ознакомиться на сайте национального парка. Как добраться: Из Минска на автомобиле по шоссе М3 и затем по Р3. Расстояние — 235 км, дорога занимает чуть больше трёх с половиной часов.

Тигр преодолел 200 километров ради секса. Тигр Борис прошёл сотни километров, чтобы встретить тигрицу, с которой его разлучили в детстве. Тигрята — не брат и сестра, но воспитывались вместе. Осиротевших зверят спасли от гибели подобрал в горной области Сихотэ-Алинь. Учёные наблюдали за их жизнью и заметили необычное поведение Бориса: он начал своё путешествие к месту обитания Светлой. Тигр преодолел по прямой почти 200 километров и в итоге нашёл подругу детства. Усилия Бориса не прошли даром — спустя полгода у пары появились тигрята.

Dabas parks "Pape" pārsteidz ar unikālām dabas ekosistēmām un elpu aizraujošām ainavām. Šeit savvaļas zirgi un tauri nogana Latvijā reti sastopamās dabiskās palieņu pļavas, bet rudeņos darbojas vienīgā caurceļojošo putnu novērošanas stacija Latvijā. Dabas parku "Pape" veido daudzveidīga ekosistēmu mozaīka. Tā teritorijā atrodas vairākas interesantas apskates vietas: lagūnveida Papes ezers un mitrāji, Nidas augstais kūdras purvs, smilšu pludmales un staigājošās kāpas, piekrastes sausie un mitrie meži. Daļu parka veido Latvijā reti sastopamās palieņu pļavas ar tām raksturīgo neparasto floru un faunu, kurā īpaši izceļas iespaidīgie savvaļas dzīvnieku bari. Dabas parks "Pape" iekļauts Eiropas Savienības nozīmes aizsargājamo teritoriju tīklā Natura 2000.
