A Birdwatcher’s Paradise at Lake Narach Lake Narach and its surrounding national park are a true haven for birds. Over 230 species have been recorded here, with around 185 nesting in the area. In spring and summer, the region becomes a natural symphony: larks sing overhead, starlings chatter in the trees, and deep in the reeds, the elusive bittern calls with a sound like someone blowing across a bottle. On the lake itself, you might spot coots, great crested grebes, mallards, mute swans, goldeneyes, gulls, and even the rare smew—only about 15–25 pairs nest in all of Belarus! Above the wetlands, cranes and marsh harriers soar, while the forests echo with the tapping of woodpeckers and the songs of tits, chaffinches, and thrushes. Lake Narach isn’t just a scenic retreat—it’s a vibrant home for countless winged residents. Bring your binoculars and a bit of patience, and you might just catch a glimpse of something extraordinary.

2100 kilometers in three days, a couple late nights and busy talking to people and giving presentations at the Parkland Outdoor Show & Expo could wear a person out but the energy at this show kept us so energized. It was really humbling talking to people there that said they'd driven all the way from Manitoba or distant locations in Saskatchewan just to meet us. The only downside to to the show was that virtually everyone that we chatted with had a picture of a bigger deer on their phone than TJ has ever taken ;) It was pretty cool spending time with several of the top TV show hosts and outdoor personalities in Canada. We work in a pretty amazing industry with a bunch of amazing people. Sharing the stage with them at the Royal Rumble was pretty entertaining. Thanks to LIVE 2 HUNT with Cody and Kelsy for emceeing this question and answer session, even though he was afraid to have a push up competition. ;) And thanks to all the people that we shared a stage with. Hunting in Vakaga: Exploring Geography, Navigating Legislation, and Discovering Interesting Facts Vakaga, the northeasternmost prefecture of the Central African Republic, is a remote and sparsely populated region marked by rugged terrain, dry savannas, and seasonal watercourses. Sharing borders with Sudan and Chad, Vakaga’s geographic isolation has helped preserve many traditional ways of life—including hunting. In this region, hunting remains a key part of rural survival, deeply tied to environmental conditions, cultural practices, and ancestral knowledge. Geography and Natural Features of Vakaga for Hunting Vakaga’s landscape features open savannas, arid plains, bushlands, and riverbeds that flow only seasonally. The Bahr Aouk and Vakaga Rivers, while intermittent, create seasonal wetlands that attract wildlife during the dry months. Due to its Sahelian climate, vegetation is sparse but interspersed with acacia, scrub, and isolated forested patches. This mix of habitats supports a

Our good friend Joe Tenney of Creek Side Deer Recovery in Ohio put this shot chart together with help of several Ohio Trackers a couple years ago. Now please read my words carefully, these pins were from deer that were tracked by a dog. These pins represent the outcome of the track. When you see a green pin that means there was proof of life, a trail cam pic, sighting or jump on track. The moral of the story? If you make a good bad shot in center mass the dog is going to find that deer! Stay low and stay off the shoulder! Most of these pins are archery tracks! Hunting in Far North Cameroon: Discover Arid Plains, Saharan Wildlife, Endangered Traditions, and Borderland Conservation in Cameroon’s Northernmost Region Sahelian landscapes, dry riverbeds, and rare desert-adapted fauna Far North Cameroon, locally known as the “Extrême-Nord,” is a strikingly different world from the dense forests of the country’s southern half. This region is defined by its Sahelian climate — hot, dry, and marked by seasonal extremes. Flat plains, rocky outcrops, dry riverbeds (called "mayos"), and pockets of acacia and baobab trees create a semi-desert biome where only the most resilient species survive. The region borders Nigeria and Chad, and is home to Waza National Park and Kalamaloué National Park — two critical conservation areas. Hunting here requires adaptation to the open terrain and searing heat, and it connects deeply with ancient survival practices and shifting ecological balances. Nomadic routes, traditional survival, and the changing face of hunting

Saharan Safari: Unveiling the Secrets of Wildlife Protection and Hunting in Africa’s Desert Realm Nature’s Blueprint: Geographical Insights for Hunters The Saharan Wildlife Protection region, spanning parts of North Africa, is a vast and diverse expanse where desert meets unique ecosystems. This area includes parts of countries like Algeria, Chad, Mali, and Niger, with its core focus on conserving wildlife amidst harsh conditions. The Sahara Desert dominates the landscape, but oases, wadis (dry riverbeds), and semi-arid zones provide critical habitats for game species. For hunters, understanding the geography is essential: daytime temperatures can soar above 50°C (122°F), while nighttime brings freezing cold. Navigation skills are paramount, as GPS signals may fail in remote areas. Who Hunts Here? A Demographic Deep Dive While exact numbers of hunters in the Saharan Wildlife Protection region are difficult to pinpoint due to sparse populations and limited access, it’s estimated tha

Meerkats live in arid and desert areas of South Africa, west of Lake Chad, north of the Orange River, including the Kalahari Desert. Some countries where you can find these animals are South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Angola, Congo. Meerkats inhabit open lands, almost devoid of trees. They can be found in areas of savannahs and open plains, while the animals prefer to settle in areas with hard ground. Meerkats look pretty cute and behave very funny - they make a fuss, squeaking under their breath. However, yes, these comrades have huge deposits of intraspecific aggression. Meerkats fight for territory with the meerkat groups surrounding them, and also periodically arrange showdowns within their group. They were recognized as the most bloodthirsty of mammals towards their own kind, as every fifth meerkat is killed by other meerkats. Well... we've bent the "paws" a bit, since meerkats usually use teeth. And the bite force of this animal is such that it will not s

Fishing in Sweden Fishing in Sweden in its 100,000 lakes, wild waterways and along the coast is a trip of a lifetime. Come hook a salmon, trout or Arctic char. Sweden’s biggest lake is Lake Vänern (south west) at around 5,600 square kilometres surface area. It’s so big it has its own weather system, and an archipelago of some 20,000 islands. If you’re thinking that this creates fantastic angling possibilities you’d be right; you can go trolling for landlocked salmon and trout, pike and zander. Southern Sweden features mostly lowland lakes holding pike, zander and perch and coarse species. As you travel northwards, the landscape changes; more rugged, hilly and forest carpeted with thousands of lakes holding pike, perch and carp in the far south, as well as brown trout, grayling and zander. As you approach the tree line in northern Sweden, where the giant spruce forests end, Arctic tundra, meadows, glaciers and towering mountain peaks take over. Up here the lakes are full of brown tr

Talarik Creek Lodge: Hunting for Trophy Rainbow Trout I answered him that it was not, and he shrugged off the 18-inch Arctic grayling on the end of my line like it was a piece of weed. My wife had sent us fishing that evening to catch some fresh grayling for dinner and our goal was now achieved, with four large, translucent-white-fleshed fish having been plucked from the cold waters of the Newhalen River. The author’s son Lucas with what he calls “a real fish” also defined as any rainbow trout over 20 inches caught on a fly rod. What is it about rainbow trout that incites such excitement? Why is it that when fishing guides congregate around a fire the conversation always finds its way to rainbows, not salmon, not char, not pike, but definitely rainbows? “Keep it in the water,” “Careful, don’t drop it,” and “Nice release,” are all phrases I’ve heard said and spoken myself. I have a personal admiration for the green-speckled creatures, and rainbow trout fishing has a cult following tha
