Hunting Perch with Waterfowl Calls From mid-winter through ice-out, Devils Lake guide Jason Feldner “hunts” perch with a system he says can’t be beat. Relying on highly detailed GPS mapping and electronics, signs from Mother Nature and a ‘three call’ system, Feldner quickly locates and ices big perch, day-in-day-out. “When it comes to finding fish, you’ve gotta key in on slight 1-foot depth contours—especially for perch. In mid- and late winter, a good place to start is that 8- to 15-foot range,” says Feldner. Like birds following a migration path, perch slowly travel specific depth contours from mid-winter through late ice to reach their spring spawning areas. “If you can’t get right on those one-foot contours and follow the perch, you’re gonna have a tough time staying on the action,” says Feldner. CPW RESCUE TIRE-BOUND ELK After a couple years of living life with a tire stuck around its neck, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) were able to finally tranquilize the bull elk and free it of the object. Last weekend, during CPW’s fourth attempt at capturing the animal, officers were able to cut the animal’s five-point antlers and remove the heavy, old tire, the Denver Post reports. “It was tight removing it,” said Scott Murdoch. “It was not easy for sure, we had to move it just right to get it off because we weren’t able to cut the steel in the bead of the tire. Fortunately, the bull’s neck still had a little room to move. We would have preferred to cut the tire and leave the antlers for his rutting activity, but the situation was dynamic and we had to just get the tire off in any way possible.” Murdoch and fellow CPW officer Dawson Swanson responded to the report of the elk by a resident last Saturday. Les faisans étaient élevés en volière puis lâchés pour ces chasses à tir. Certaines journées de chasse totalisaient plus de 1 000 oiseaux abattus. AG AFACCC 13 Hier, samedi 8 juillet s’est déroulée l’AG de l’afaccc 13. Nous remercions Mr Clément Conil pour l’accueil au domaine de St Amand . Suite aux rapports moral, d’activité et financier du président et trésorier, nous remercions Mr Daniel Keller, nouveau président de la FDC 13 pour sa très belle intervention. A l’issue de l’AG où environ 80 personnes ont répondu présentes, un rapproché vif et sonore s’engage vers le stand de la buvette où un lancé explosif se produit, une menée festive et groupée s’organise jusqu’à la fin du temps imparti qui nous mènera à la dégustation d’une succulente paella. Tout au long de la journée, l’animation « Ball Trap laser du soleil du ventoux » nous a organisé des petits concours qui ont rencontré un franc succès bravo 👏 Merci à tous nos fidèles adhérents qui ont répondus présents. Samedi s'est déroulée la formation "Chasse à l'arc" à l'Ecole Chasse Nature de St Astier. Une formation en deux parties : une première partie théorique le matin sur la réglementation et le matériel présentée par l'ASCAPER (Association des Chasseurs à l'Arc du Périgord), une intervention de l'UNUCR sur la recherche au sang du gibier blessé. Une seconde partie pratique l'après-midi, avec des séances de tirs sur cible et un parcours sur cible 3D.
