Taxidermy, the intricate art of preserving animal specimens, has long captivated the hearts of hunters and nature enthusiasts alike. Among the bounty of the wilderness, the capercaillie and the black grouse stand out as regal representatives of avian wildlife, emblematic of the untamed forests they inhabit. Their vibrant plumage and majestic postures become timeless reminders of the beauty of nature when preserved through taxidermy. The process itself is both an art and a science, requiring a deft touch and keen understanding of anatomy. Each step, from skinning to mounting, is meticulously executed to ensure the resulting display is a lifelike homage to the creature's former existence. Hunters often seek to immortalize their trophies, capturing the essence of the hunt and the thrill of the chase. Beyond mere decoration, taxidermy serves an educational purpose, sparking curiosity about biodiversity and the ecological significance of these species. Taxidermy: Turning Your Kill into a Lasting Trophy Taxidermy isn't just stuffing an animal; it's an art and a science. It's about recreating a lifelike representation of your kill, preserving the memory of the hunt for years to come. Why Bother with Taxidermy? Respect: You put in the time, skill, and effort. A mount is a way to respect the animal and the hunt. Memories: It's a tangible reminder of the hunt: the stalk, the shot, the terrain. A mount brings those memories flooding back. Bragging Rights: Let's be honest, it's a conversation starter. A well-done mount is a testament to your skill as a hunter. Decoration: It adds a unique and rugged aesthetic to your cabin, man cave, or home. Choosing a Taxidermist: Don't Skimp This is where you can't afford to cut corners. A bad taxidermist can ruin a trophy. Here's what to look for: Experience: How long have they been in the game? Look for a taxidermist with years of experience. Bull Riding Rat Taxidermy Creating a Bull Riding Rat taxidermy piece involves a blend of creativity and traditional taxidermy techniques. Here's a simplified process: Preparation: First, a rat specimen is carefully skinned, and the hide is preserved through tanning to prevent decay and maintain its shape. Form Creation: A custom form or mannequin is created to fit the rat's size and pose. For this unique piece, the form would be adjusted to make the rat appear as if it's riding a small model bull. Mounting the Hide: The preserved rat hide is carefully fitted over the form. The taxidermist stitches it in place, ensuring a natural look and proper alignment of the fur. Detailing: The rat's eyes, ears, and facial features are carefully crafted and positioned for a lifelike appearance. The pose is fine-tuned to make it look like the rat is actively riding the bull. Bull Model: A miniature bull model is prepared, either crafted from scratch or purchased. The model is detailed to match aPost: 5 August 09:13

Youth have more time to complete hunter education while still hunting this fall. Any youth (age 17 and younger) who has completed an online hunter education class will be able to hunt on their own tag, even if they haven’t completed the required in-person field day. With fewer hunter education classes/field days offered this year due to COVID-19, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will defer the field day requirement for youth hunters for the 2021 hunting season. The field day will still be required to get a hunter education certificate, but can be delayed until after hunting season. “This will provide additional time for any young hunter to get their hunter education certification,” said Antonio Salgado, ODFW Recruitment/Retention/Reactivation Coordinator. “They will still have to complete a field day to be fully certified. Since fewer and smaller hunter ed conventional classes and field days have been offered due to COVID, we didn’t want anyone to miss the chance to hunt thisPost: 4 October 15:15

🦌✨ Behold the spirit of the forest, frozen in time — a majestic trophy stag, crowned with a breathtaking constellation of antlers. Each branching point feels like a relic of ancient magic, telling silent stories of moonlit woods and wild, unspoken wisdom. This isn’t just taxidermy. It’s a portal — a symbol of nature’s power, beauty, and mystery. A magical deer, captured in eternal stillness, glowing with quiet grandeur.Post: 11 July 18:10
Taxidermy Is Art. No Debates Needed. 🎯 I hunt because I love nature. I mount trophies because I respect it. Taxidermy isn’t some weird obsession or macho flex. It’s the way I capture the wild — raw and honest. That moment when I locked eyes with a rutting buck, or the adrenaline when the boar came crashing through the thicket… a picture fades. A head mount? That’s memory solidified. That’s real. Some folks say it’s just “stuffed animals.” Yeah? Then you’ve never watched a true taxidermist breathe life back into glass eyes and cured hide. It takes more than glue and foam — it takes knowledge, precision, and soul. That’s craftsmanship. That’s art. These trophies on my wall? They aren’t kills. They’re chapters. They’re why I remember every sunrise I froze through, every footprint I followed, every time I sat in complete silence — just waiting. I don’t do it for show. I do it because the wild deserves to be remembered properly. Call it what you want. I call it respect in its purest,Post: 7 July 20:05

Officials still believe that fishermen do not intentionally catch sharks and rays, and Bangladesh is still not considered a major exporter of shark derivatives, but conservationists have rung the alarm as fins, cartilage, gill plates, liver and other parts are smuggled in disguise of 'dry fish' from Cox's Bazar to some South-East Asian countries via Myanmar. 🐟 Bighorn River, Montana Renowned for its beautiful scenery and trout abundance, the Bighorn River is regarded as one of the most beautiful fishing streams not just in Montana but the entire country. Though localized to the first 13 miles, the river offers fly fishing enthusiasts an opportunity to fish for the whole year. Yes, even including in the middle of winter. This stretch has a population of about 3000-5000 fish per mile, with a considerable portion of the fish being over fourteen inches. The river mostly harbors brown trout, but prized rainbows are also abundant. The best fishing period is during the summer between July and September, but anglers are present even during the cold, dead of winter.Post: 30 May 21:50

Nature’s best friend: Scientists train dogs to sniff out dangerous invasive species Dogs can sniff out invasive fish in lakes without even seeing them, new research suggests. In lakes and rivers around the world, carp are wreaking havoc on local species. Native to central Asia, these common fish infest freshwater lakes and rivers, outcompeting other animals. But scientists have discovered a new tool in the fight against the invasive creature - the powerful nose of man’s best friend. According to a study by Australian and New Zealand scientists, specially-trained canines can detect whether invasive carp are present in water. In fact, they’re even better than lab tools. “(Our) findings suggest that dogs could provide an accurate and highly sensitive method of invasive fish detection,” the study authors write.Post: 23 August 18:20

Species Specifics You’ll likely hear of three major catfish species across the United States: channels, blues, and flatheads. For this topic of our discussion, we’ll stick with channel cats, as they are the most numerous, inhabiting nearly every waterway, lake and swamp in the South and across the country’s midsection into Canada. Bonus: They are great to eat. Blues are big river fish (think Mississippi), and flatheads are an outlandish predator capable of tipping 100 pounds. Both are incredible fish, and numerous outfitters specialize in trophy fishing for each. But, today, we’ll dial in the broader target: channel cats. Post: 8 September 12:33
