Bergara B-14 When this rifle made a splash in America, gun-counter savants were wont to call it “the rifle the Remington 700 should have been.” Blasphemous though that may be to Remington disciples, the fact is the B-14 is an exceptional rifle and has garnered several national awards. Patterned much like the M700, it has a better extractor and bolt release. Manufactured in Bergara, Spain, the B-14 has quickly garnered a reputation for superb accuracy, thanks to the unrelenting quality of Bergara barrels. This reputation is supported by a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee. Versions range from true mountain rifles to heavy, configurable PRS competition guns. The 15-year-old hunter is now the proud record holder of the only Boone & Crockett (B&C) bull elk for Virginia with a score of 413-7/8” after his dad, Bo, won a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) raffle. As GOHUNT previously reported, Virginia announced its first historic elk season last year following a successful reintroduction effort spearheaded by RMEF. Out of the five tags available, four went to Virginia residents lucky to draw and the fifth was raffled off by RMEF. Almost 32,000 applicants vied for their chance at a once-in-a-lifetime tag, generating $513,000 for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources general fund, according to B&C. Lov Jelena lesního a jeho historie Jelen evropský byl vždy mezi myslivci označován jako zvěř královská, a toto označení se nevytratilo ani z každodenní myslivecké terminologie.Lze se jen domnívat, že vše bylo zapříčiněno velikostí a krásou této zvěře, mohutností paroží a faktu, že v dřívějších dobách směli tuto zvěř lovit výhradně příslušníci šlechtického rodu. Také v dnešní době je ulovení jelena pro každého myslivce nezapomenutelným zážitkem na celý život. O prvních způsobech lovu jelení zvěře nejsou dochovány nijak zvláštní zajímavosti. Lov probíhal pomocí luku a kladení různých pastí v podobě vykopaných jam či stavění nástražných ohrad. Později se velkou oblibou panovníků staly jezdecké štvanice za pomoci smečky loveckých psů. O způsobu takovýchto štvanic jsou dochovány zmínky v období od 10. do 14 století za vlád Přemyslovců a Lucemburků. V období 14. století se také začaly na našem území hojněji stavět obory právě pro jelení zvěř. Jelen byl tedy první oborní zvěří u nás. P
