Hunting in Bushenyi: Uganda's Verdant Hunting Ground Where Tradition Meets Conservation The mist hangs low over Bushenyi's rolling hills in the early morning, clinging to the dense forests and tea plantations that blanket this fertile region. Somewhere in the damp undergrowth, a bushbuck freezes at the sound of a snapping twig, its ears twitching as it scans the shadows. This is hunting in Bushenyi – a subtle, intimate dance between hunter and prey played out in landscapes so lush they seem to breathe. Unlike the open savannas of northern Uganda, hunting here requires patience, stealth, and an intimate knowledge of the forest's secret rhythms. A Tapestry of Green: Bushenyi's Hunting Landscapes Bushenyi's geography makes it one of Uganda's most distinctive hunting destinations. The district sits at the edge of the Albertine Rift, where the land folds into steep hills and valleys carved by ancient glaciers. Three key ecosystems converge here: Montane Forests – Primeval stands of maho

I was taking a hike up a centennial 13er in the San Juans on Tuesday morning and was, uh, surprised to meet up with a couple of female moose on my path up. We had a stand off for about 5 minutes when it was clear at least one of them was NOT getting off the path. I had to bushwhack up the side of the mountain about 30 yards and make my way by them. THEN, as I was coming home late that afternoon? I met HIM about a mile from my car. How lucky can one guy get? It’s a spooky feeling when there’s nothing between you and them except empty space. The moon was so bright that morning. And I ran into this cabin on the way up and down. Someone has put some money into it because the roof is metal and newish. The rafters and main beams inside are also newish. Heck, one of the joist hangers even has price tag on it. I just happened to be sitting in the cabin on my way back to my car when I heard what sounded like an explosion and a lot of rockfall. I ran outside the cabin in time to see dust clouds

Fox Hunting in Britain Fox hunting has been occurring in different guises worldwide for hundreds of years. Indeed the practise of using dogs with a keen sense of smell to track prey has been traced back to ancient Egypt and many Greek and Roman influenced countries. However it is believed that the custom for a fox to be tracked, chased and often killed by trained hunting hounds (generally those with the keenest sense of smell known as ‘scent hounds’) and followed by the Master of the Foxhounds and his team on foot and horseback, originated from a Norfolk farmer’s attempt to catch a fox using farm dogs in 1534. Whilst foxes were widely regarded as vermin and farmers and other landowners had hunted the animals for many years as a form of pest control (both to curb their attacks on farm animals and for their highly prized fur) it wasn’t until the eighteenth century that fox hunting developed into it’s most modern incarnation and was considered a sport in its own right as a result of the
