9 Ways to Ruin Your Outfitted Hunt A multi-thousand-dollar hunt is something to take seriously while still enjoying a great time. Here’s how to behave yourself Outfitted hunts can be very exciting. I’ve done several of them, and most were with salt-of-the-earth folks who respected one another and had a great time. But I’ve shared a couple of camps with chest-thumping types who cussed and drank more than they hunted. It ruined an otherwise great atmosphere. Have you ever been on an outfitted hunt and experienced someone or several people acting foolishly? Did it negatively affect your hunt time in camp? For that matter, have you been the annoying or disrespectful guy or gal in camp? You want to have a good time on an outfitted hunt, but it’s important to follow some common-sense guidelines, too. These are some of the big ones. 1. Keeping Others Awake After traveling a great distance and paying thousands, who wants to be kept awake by someone is talking loudly and slamming doors? Out

The Real Cost of Hunting in Africa: A No-Nonsense Guide Why Hunting in Africa is Expensive? Before diving into specific costs, it's crucial to understand the underlying reasons for the expense: Conservation Efforts: A significant portion of hunting fees directly funds conservation programs. Trophy hunting, when managed sustainably, can contribute to anti-poaching efforts, habitat preservation, and community development.

By Frank Gentile, Hopewell, N.Y. It was October 2011, and I was back in my Chevy Tahoe on my way to another hunt. This time, instead of my son, I was traveling with my hunting buddies. My buddies and I had been on plenty of trips together before but never to Texas! Between the four of us and gear for six (two of our team opted to fly from New York to San Antonio), every single spare inch of space in the truck had been utilized. With each of us taking turns driving, we made it to Texas in about 20 hours. We got dinner and hotel rooms in Texarkana, and were back on the road early the next morning. With a day to spare before we were due at our hunting camp in Hondo, Texas, we headed south with plans to enjoy the city of San Antonio along the way. In San Antonio, we explored the Alamo, the River Walk and the Buckhorn Saloon and Texas Ranger Museum. What a great city! Our first order of business after arriving at the camp the next morning was to make sure that our rifles were on target.

Hotel in Hunting Island What You Will See The Island has three miles of walkable beaches, a historic lighthouse, and ample opportunities for bird watching, fishing, crabbing, or shrimping. Shady picnic tables, showers, dressing rooms make a day trip to the beach manageable. The Island’s marshes there were used for the Vietnam War scenes in the movie Forrest Gump. Jungle and water camp scenes for the movie G.I. Jane were also shot on Hunting Island. As you drive in, you go through a maritime forest with soaring pines and palms. Nestled into this woodland setting is the Visitors Center where you can get a park map and brochure, and see exhibits on the historic lighthouse as well as on the natural flora and fauna. A small auditorium hosts educational programs on the island’s nature and history.

Yes, black bears (Ursus americanus ) and brown bears (Ursus arctos ), which include grizzly bears in North America, can live together in the same regions in Canada. Typically black and brown bears occupy different habitats and have distinct behaviors that reduce direct competition between them. This coexistence is possible due to differences in their ecological niches, dietary preferences, and habitat use. Key Points About Black and Brown Bears Coexisting in Canada: 1. Geographic Distribution Black Bears : These are much more widespread across Canada and can be found in forests from coast to coast, including areas with dense human populations. Brown Bears (Grizzlies) : They are primarily found in western Canada, particularly in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. Grizzlies tend to inhabit more remote, rugged, and less populated areas, such as mountains, tundra, and coastal regions. 2. Habitat Preferences Black Bears : Prefer forested areas, swamps, and w

Alternative Botswana 👉 Category: best places for family vacations. The list of great places for a joint or family trip continues with the undeservedly pushed aside 🇧🇼Botswana. You should definitely consider visiting this beautiful country in the near future! ➕Solid advantages! 1️⃣ There is hunting for plains game. Of course, there is also hunting for large game, such as elephant, leopard and buffalo, but this is later in the season. 2️⃣ You do not need a visa to Botswana. 3️⃣ The weather in April-May is still remarkably warm, there is a lot of game and enough entertainment for several days in a row! Hunting in South Cameroon: Primeval Rainforests, Endangered Species, and Deep Cultural Ties in the Country’s Wildest and Most Biodiverse Region Immense forest blocks, secretive wildlife, and ecological treasure troves The South Region of Cameroon is a haven for tropical biodiversity, cloaked in vast expanses of evergreen rainforest, interspersed with rivers, swamps, and sacred groves. Bordering Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo, this region forms part of the great Congo Basin — the second largest rainforest on Earth. Towering hardwood trees, dense understory, and constant humidity create an environment that’s both breathtakingly beautiful and difficult to navigate. The Dja Faunal Reserve, Campo Ma’an National Park, and the Nyong River basin are just a few of the natural landmarks that define the South’s untamed character. It is a region where nature still speaks louder than man. Forest heritage and the lifeblood of indigenous communities In the deep forests of

How to Hunt Alaska on a Budget Have You Ever Tried This? Alaska hunting is the stuff of dreams, yet many convince themselves it’s beyond their reach. This is easy to understand, as guided Alaska hunts are some of the most expensive around. Single-species hunts for mountain goat, dall sheep and brown bear run anywhere from $9,000 to $14,000. A guided hunt for even “commonplace” barren ground caribou might finance a multi-species hunt in southern Africa. For the average working stiff, a do-it-yourself hunt is the only way to enjoy such an expedition. If daunted by such an adventure, especially its costs, I understand. Yet, after 10 Alaska forays of my own, I’m here to say that with plenty of advanced planning and a meager savings-account grab-stake, an Alaska hunt is well within grasp. While the sexiest Alaskan species require the non-resident to hire an outfitter by law, many don’t. These include barren ground caribou, Alaska-Yukon moose, Sitka blacktail deer and black bear — all anima

Aoudad Hunting: The Poor Man’s Sheep Like countless other big game hunters across the U.S., I dream of one day roasting tenderloins in a high-altitude camp as the flickering firelight casts its glow on a set of wild sheep horns strapped to my backpack. Be it a fully curled Rocky Mountain bighorn, Dall, Stone or Desert, I don’t care — I just want to be a sheep hunter, the kind that the legendary Jack O’Connor was as he roamed the withering heights with his .270 in hand. Unfortunately, being a sheep hunter is my dream, not my reality thanks to staggeringly high hunting costs and precious few tags available through state draws. But there is hope for a wannabe sheep hunter like myself, hope that comes in the form of a beautiful nomadic animal with sweeping horns that have found their way to American shores. Those sheep are the imported aoudad sheep, or Barbary sheep. Native to the rocky, desert mountains of North Africa, the sheep have made themselves quite at home in the similarly dry a
