<strong>Hunting</strong> Regulations & Seasonal

Top End NT Hunting Seasons: When the Monsoon Dictates the Chase - Buffalo, Banteng and Wetland Pursuits Hunting Regulations & Seasonal Framework in Top End NT The Top End operates under the Northern Territory's Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act with year-round hunting permitted for feral buffalo, pigs, and goats across most areas. Waterfowl seasons follow federal guidelines (typically March to October), while crocodile harvesting requires special permits limited to management zones. The tropical monsoon climate creates extreme seasonal variations - most hunting occurs during the dry season (May to September) when floodwaters recede and roads reopen. Unlike Queensland's Cape York, the NT allows limited recreational crocodile hunting under strict quotas. Recent reforms include mandatory buffalo disease testing stations (2023) and expanded Indigenous Protected Areas affecting access to 40% of traditional hunting grounds. Digital permit systems now require satellite communication in re

The Real Cost of Hunting in Africa: A No-Nonsense Guide Why Hunting in Africa is Expensive? Before diving into specific costs, it's crucial to understand the underlying reasons for the expense: Conservation Efforts: A significant portion of hunting fees directly funds conservation programs. Trophy hunting, when managed sustainably, can contribute to anti-poaching efforts, habitat preservation, and community development. Professional Guiding and Outfitting: You're not just paying for a hunt; you're paying for the expertise of experienced Professional Hunters (PHs), trackers, skinners, and support staff. Their knowledge is vital for a safe and successful hunt. Infrastructure and Logistics: Operating in remote areas of Africa necessitates substantial infrastructure, including vehicles, camps, equipment, and communication systems. Demand: The demand for hunting certain species, particularly those considered "dangerous game," drives up prices. Key Cost Components The overall cost

French court overrules government on bird hunting licences France’s top administrative court has suspended new permits given out by the government for traditional bird hunting. Monday’s decision by the Council of State ruled that hunting orders granted by the government earlier this month were likely to contravene European law. The ruling follows Intense lobbying by nature conservationists. “It's a great joy that the urgency has been recognised because the damage is irreversible in terms of hunting,” Muriel Arnal, of the NGO One Voice, told France Info radio. "It's important to know that there is justice, and that our ecosystems and biodiversity are protected." Activists say that 150,000 birds die annually in France from non-selective hunting techniques such as glue traps and nets at a time when Europe's bird population is in sharp decline. Tecnniques banned Over the summer the court banned a range of traditional techniques for hunting birds, including using nets, cages and glue

Second, your weapon will determine your season, which also determines your experience. It is nearly universal, for example, that archery season for big game happens in September because it coincides with the elk rut (mating season). Hunting during the elk rut is a uniquely powerful experience. During this time, bull elk vie for the attention of cows, piercing the mountain air with their signature bugles, grunts, chuckles, and screams. The ability to hear the animals and understand their intent, and engage in vocal communication with a 600-pound king of the forest, is one of the most intense, thrilling, and addictive elements of archery hunting. Elk language is nuanced and laden with information. As a bowhunter your goal is to paint a picture in the animal’s mind with the timing, location, tone, and intensity of your vocalization. In one situation you might imitate a cow elk looking for love, while in another you might communicate to a bull that you’re a bigger bull ready to rumble. (If

Prishvin Russian writer and hunter. Mikhail Mikhailovich Prishvin (1873-1954) was an outstanding Russian and Soviet writer, novelist and publicist, correspondent, traveler, photographer, local historian, teacher. But perhaps the most famous aspect of Mikhail Prishvin's life and work is his passion for hunting. Hunting is not simple, but filled with the deepest love and respect for nature. Prishvin considered hunting not only a simple means of subsistence, but also a way of communicating with nature and understanding its ways. He used his experience as a hunter in his works, enriching them, enlivening the world of nature for readers. During the hunt, Prishvin often took photographs and notes. These drafts then endowed the landscapes of his stories with living force and almost physically tangible properties, as if the reader himself found himself in these places, they were so authentic. Prishvin was a hunter, but he did not hunt just for the excitement, all his hunting was in moderati

For those recreating outdoors near hunting areas, such as hikers, wear orange so you can be seen by hunters. Obey "No Trespassing" signs. Check the forecast and dress for the weather. Carry some type of two-way communication device that receives service in remote areas. Tips for Hunting Fox Squirrels Tactics for hunting our largest tree squirrel aren’t the same as for more common gray squirrels “Let’s go chase after a fox squirrel.” Those were the last words I remember my friend Hunter saying to me before we wandered down the logging road that cut through the top of Brush Mountain. I was cramming my brain with communication law court cases for an exam. He knew exactly how to escape the books. In a sudden dart down the mountainside, Hunter vanished into the fall foliage. I scuffled through the leaves behind him the best I could in rubber boots to find him encouraging me to hurry. He handed me the .22 Magnum. “It’s a fox squirrel,” Hunter whispered. The squirrel was frozen high up in an oak tree. I aimed the gun to the sky. It took me too long to steady my shooting position, and I was certain the squirrel was going to move. But he remained still as a statue, and at the shot, the squirrel fell through the autumn air. Its fur was auburn and delicate, and

Wyoming reduces number of mule deer and antelope tags There will be fewer tags for Wyoming mule deer and antelope this year. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) decided to reduce the number of tags due to disease and drought, according to Wyoming Public Radio. EHD, or blue tongue, has impacted herds and continuing drought means more competition for available forage. Ian Tator, WGFD’s terrestrial habitat manager, says that “elk will out compete mule deer and [antelope] for vegetation.” “We had an outbreak of blue tongue this last summer, which just means there are that many less animals available,” says Tator. “If those animals aren't there to begin with, we're not going to issue licenses for them.” This means that WGFD will cut the number of antelope licenses by 8,000 and mule deer licenses by 3,300 for the 2022 hunting season. However, there will be an increase in elk tags, which Tator hopes will “give the mule deer and [antelope] populations a chance to grow.” “We're trying t

Cold and Snowy Conditions to Greet Wisconsin Deer Hunters Hunters couldn't ask for better conditions when Wisconsin's annual nine-day gun deer season opens Saturday. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Hunters can expect near-perfect conditions when Wisconsin's annual nine-day gun deer season opens Saturday. Wisconsin Public Radio reported Thursday that temperatures in the 20s and 30s will allow hunters to sit in one area comfortably if they choose and snow-covered ground will make deer more visible and easier to track. The only issue could be wind, which could affect deer movement and make things tougher for hunters, said Jeff Pritzl, state Department of Natural Resources deer program specialist. DNR officials told WPR that they expect to sell about 550,000 licenses this year. The agency sold 564,440 licenses last year. License sales have been trending down for more than 20 years, slipping about 1.5% annually since 2000 as older hunters age out of the sport faster than young people are taking

Looking back on a fantastic week in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. I treasure every trip I get to make to the GYE. This image was captured February of 2022. After listening to multiple groups of howls, we decided to position ourselves in between them in hopes we could catch a glimpse. After only 5hrs of being in the general area our patients paid off. To my surprise a beautiful young gray wolf appeared on the ridge above. With another pack across the river communicating with her I knew we were in for a treat. She boldly made her way down the ridge and towards us. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. I snapped what would be my favorite wolf shots to date. This experience brings me back year after year. The GYE is truly like no where else on earth! Canon R5 Canon RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM

The forest began to lose its harmony, and the animals could no longer enjoy the same freedom as before. This legend reminds us of how hostility and disagreement can destroy h
