CZ Debuts 600 Series: A Firsthand View If Ford opted to replace the F150 with some new line of pickups, the new design better fill the category. The new series also better be loaded with innovations that aficionados of the brand really do want and need. It also should be close enough to the original beloved DNA of the brand that customers will be excited about, but still comfortable with, the change. 600 Alpha So when CZ said it developed a new 600 series of bolt-action rifles—guns that will reportedly replace the CZ 527 and CZ 557—and asked us to come to the Czech Republic to see them, we were excited about the prospect. We were hopeful they had designed a rifle that would be a smart replacement for established models. We were also hoping this new 600 series would send competitors scrambling for their SolidWorks programs to see how they could adjust to a new design in a very mature firearm category. Tips for beginners. What caliber should I start with? Many experts recommend starting with the twelfth, because it releases a lot of fractions to hit a moving target, but does not spoil the trophy qualities of the prey. Over time, it is recommended to reduce the caliber. In a couple of years, replace your weapon with a lighter one. This will save a lot of money on consumables (gunpowder, shot). Remember that the right barrel, as a rule, is "pay", that is, it scatters the fraction over the area, and the left "choke" gives a more hefty shot. That is, from a close distance it is necessary to press the trigger that is closer to the butt.Post: 26 June 22:34

Even though the U.S. Department of Agriculture has now reversed its ill-timed Sept. 2 ban on importing game birds taken in Canada, waterfowl hunters throughout North America could still be impacted by the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza in migratory game birds during the coming months. Following a new ruling issued by the USDA on Sept. 12, American hunters are allowed to bring game bird meat back from Canada, but the birds must be cleaned, stored and transported as follows (which is different than how many people field-dress waterfowl): Viscera (innards), head, neck, feet, skin and one wing must be removed. Feathers must be removed, with the exception of one wing — as required by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for species identification. Carcasses must be rinsed in fresh, clean, potable water prior to packaging and must not have visible evidence of contamination with dirt, blood or feces. Alaska offers a variety of hunting opportunities, many of them world class. The options include taking kids grouse or hare hunting along back roads in the Interior, filling the freezer with muskox, or conducting a once-in-a-lifetime brown bear or mountain goat hunt in the Southeast rainforest or along the Southcentral coast. Some species, such as caribou and moose, are widely distributed across much of the state. However, depending on the month, animals may be scarce even where good habitat exists, but abundant elsewhere. Many big game species in Alaska make long migrations between their seasonal ranges. The keys to hunting successfully are careful planning and thorough preparation.Post: 20 November 09:47

Did you know that in Europe, the right to hunt is considered a privilege rather than a right? In many European countries, prospective hunters must pass rigorous tests and obtain licenses before they are allowed to hunt. These licenses are often restricted to certain species and areas, and hunting regulations are strictly enforced to ensure sustainable populations. In some countries, such as Germany and Austria, hunters must also undergo extensive training in wildlife biology, ecology, and marksmanship before receiving their licenses. This rigorous process ensures that hunters have a thorough understanding of their role in the ecosystem and are equipped to make ethical and responsible hunting decisions. Another interesting fact is that hunting traditions vary widely across Europe. In some countries, such as France and Italy, hunting is considered a luxurious social activity, with elaborate dress codes and exclusive hunting clubs. In other countries, such as Sweden and Finland, huntingPost: 25 May 18:49

New Jersey Bill Would Require Landowners to Notify Neighbors Before Hunting Their Own Land gislators in New Jersey introduced a bill last month that would change the state’s regulations for hunting on private land. Assembly Bill 3732 calls for an expanded safety buffer that would prohibit hunters from nocking an arrow or carrying a loaded weapon within 450 feet of any occupied building in the state. A3732 would also require private landowners in the state to notify neighboring landowners before they could be allowed to hunt on their own land. More specifically, the legislation would require landowners to “provide written notice to and obtain written confirmation from the owners and occupants of adjacent properties [prior to] any hunting activities.” That written notice must include the date, time, and length of the proposed hunt, and it must be delivered to neighboring properties at least 24 hours in advance of any hunting activities. It continues to be an important form of recreation and a means of getting food. The busiest hunting season starts on August 20, the opening of the water fowl hunting season. By Aaron Webber The three muskox bulls were getting anxious and it appeared that they were about to run again. I had chased this particular bull several times from a larger herd, but after several failed attempts to get a clear shot, it had finally broken off from the herd with two other, smaller bulls. I jumped off my snowmachine and got ready with my 7 mm Mag. The largest bull had moved away from the other two and presented a broadside shot. I instinctively stood, aimed, and fired at the bull. The bull took off running. I reloaded and followed up with a second shot which knocked the bull to the ground. I had finally bagged my bull! I started shaking severely. Whether it was delayed buck fever, or the fact that it was freezing cold, or perhaps a combination of both, I don’t know. I calmed myself enough to climb back on my snowmachine and drove over to the downed bull. The rest of the group arrived just before I did. My dad met me at my machine and gave me a big hug.
Your November Rut Playbook In the northern and central states and Canada, the whitetail rut is about to explode in a frenzy that anyone with their eyes open will notice as bucks heedlessly cross farm fields, suburban yards and roads in their furious search for does in estrus. But the rut isn’t just a time of frenzy. The seeking, chasing and breeding phases of the rut that occur in November across much of the whitetail’s range often require different strategies. Here’s a week-by-week guide to staying in step with the rut this month to up your odds of tagging the buck you want. November 1-7 Halloween is just gone but some of the trees are still pumpkin orange. The fallen leaves have a fresh, damp, musky smell in the early morning. Saplings have been rubbed raw along field edges and all over the woods, and scrapes seem to be everywhere. The young bucks are harassing does now like exuberant teenagers, but the older bucks, though they are scraping and rubbing, aren’t yet moving hard in seaPost: 3 November 19:14
