Five o’clock with polar bear. If you decide to drink tea with cookies in the North of Russia, do not forget to treat the polar bear. The number of polar bears is declining worldwide. Almost everywhere this species is under protection, any prey of the beast is prohibited. There are approximately 25-30 thousand individuals left on the entire planet. A significant part of them live in the Russian north. In the Russian Federation, it lives on the Arctic coast and islands in the waters from the Barents to the Chukchi and Bering Seas. The Chukchi polar bear population is considered to be the largest in the world. On floating ice, polar bears can reach more southern latitudes, for example, they can reach the center of the eastern coast of Kamchatka. In Russia, polar bears are listed in the Red Book, and their hunting has been prohibited since 1956. Despite this, experts estimate that 100-200 bears fall victim to poachers every year. Poaching of polar bears in Russia is strictly punishablePost: 28 January 11:17

Ch Supt Matt Longman, the National Police Chiefs’ Council lead on foxhunting, was speaking at the launch of a coalition against illegal hunting led by the League Against Cruel Sports and backed by more than 30 charities including the RSPCA. Longman, the police commander for Plymouth, said: “The Hunting Act is not working effectively and illegal hunting is still common practice.” Under the act, hunting mammals with hounds is banned but trail hunts using the scent of animals are allowed to take place. Longman said hunts were using trail hunts as a loophole to carry on hunting foxes and other animals. He said:Post: 20 November 09:16

He said: "Buzzards are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the wooded area to get in touch. "We rely on the public to help us tackle wildlife crime and I urge anyone in the local and wider community to come forward if they have any information about who may have been responsible."Post: 22 April 13:11
Hank the Tank evades capture again! The 500-pound black bear dubbed “Hank the Tank” is still on the lam after breaking into two more California homes. To date, Hank has caused “extensive damage” to 33 properties and broken into about 28 homes in a Lake Tahoe neighborhood over the past few months, according to CNN. The latest break-in occurred on February 18. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department reported that the bear didn’t go into a garage after trash, but instead physically broke through a window into the home before managing to get out. And while the massive black bear hasn’t attacked any humans or pets, worried residents have been flooding police lines with over 100 individual reports since the black bear began its tirade on the Lake Tahoe neighborhood last spring. “The incidents primarily occurred during the summer and fall of 2021, when the bear was in hyperphagia, adding calories to survive the winter,” says California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) spokesperson PPost: 22 March 10:28

Photo 1959. The work of flight attendants and stewards begins long before the departure of the aircraft and does not end immediately after landing. The main thing in this job is not food and drinks, but the safety of passengers in any critical situation. In 1958, KLM launched transarctic flights from Amsterdam to Tokyo with refueling in Anchorage. It was the era of motor aircraft at the dawn of mass passenger aviation. The company paid special attention to the risk of an emergency landing in the Arctic. Each plane carried a set of survival equipment. Polar bears have long provided important raw materials for Arctic peoples, including the Inuit, Yupik, Chukchi, Nenets, Russian Pomors and others. Hunters commonly used teams of dogs to distract the bear, allowing the hunter to spear the bear or shoot it with arrows at closer range. Almost all parts of captured animals had a use. The fur was used in particular to make trousers and, by the Nenets, to make galoshes-like outer footwear called tobok; the meat is edible, despite some risk of trichinosis; the fat was used in food and as a fuel for lighting homes, alongside seal and whale blubber; sinews were used as thread for sewing clothes; the gallbladder and sometimes heart were dried and powdered for medicinal purposes; the large canine teeth were highly valued as talismans. Only the liver was not used, as its high concentration of vitamin A is poisonous. As a carnivore, which feeds largely upon fish-eating carnivores, the polar bear ingests large amounts of vitamin A that is stored in Post: 10 July 16:28

RikaNV Team Successes: Wolf Hunting in Belarus Good morning from the RikaNV team! Today we are happy to share with you the impressive results of our wolf hunt in Belarus. While Evgeny Golubev was representing our team at an exhibition in Moscow, our hunters received a signal about a pack of wolves and did not miss the chance. Wolves are one of the most cunning predators, and hunting them requires high training and professionalism. Our team, consisting of experienced hunters, left for the place on the signal. A pack of five wolves approached the hunters almost immediately, which became a real test for our team. Before leaving, we carefully prepared: we studied the habits of wolves, chose the best places for observation and hunting. Teamwork and coordinated actions allowed us to achieve success. Soon we will release a detailed video, where we will show all the stages of the hunt and share our impressions. We are sure that this will be interesting not only for our subscribers, but alsPost: 17 October 09:23
