Missouri to Allow Drone Use During Hunting Season Allowing drones to be used in recover is becoming more common across the United States. All use of drones in hunting seasons has been banned in Missouri until now. The Missouri Department of Conservation released several rule changes ahead of the 2024 season. These changes include the approval of drones used specifically in recovering wounded deer, turkey, elk, and black bear. All other uses of drones to aid in the hunt are still prohibited. Pursuing, taking, driving, or harassing wildlife is still not legal. These changes reflect a growing shift toward utilizing technology to prevent the loss of animals. Drone operators must obtain permission before flying over private land in Missouri. They are also restricted from possessing a weapon during flight. There are specific regulations and rules that are required by the state of Missouri to operate a drone, even if only for recreational use. The FAA requires all drone operators to take Th

Utah launches first wildlife law enforcement drone team It’s a bird, it’s a plane – nope, it’s a drone. And it’s part of Utah’s new conservation officer drone team aimed at keeping tabs on the hard-to-reach areas of the state. To date, there are five investigators located across the state who have completed the necessary Federal Aviation Administration licensing and training requirements for Unmanned Aerial Systems, according to a press release. “Using drones will help us more effectively solve wildlife crimes, and having trained law enforcement drone pilots will also allow us to assist other law enforcement agencies with search-and-rescue efforts or any other investigations,” said Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (UDWR) Captain Wade Hovinga. “Utah conservation officers are public servants, and these new tools will help us better serve the public, whether we’re solving poaching crimes or locating lost hunters.” UDWR compares the drone specialty designation to the K-9 conservation

French court overrules government on bird hunting licences France’s top administrative court has suspended new permits given out by the government for traditional bird hunting. Monday’s decision by the Council of State ruled that hunting orders granted by the government earlier this month were likely to contravene European law. The ruling follows Intense lobbying by nature conservationists. “It's a great joy that the urgency has been recognised because the damage is irreversible in terms of hunting,” Muriel Arnal, of the NGO One Voice, told France Info radio. "It's important to know that there is justice, and that our ecosystems and biodiversity are protected." Activists say that 150,000 birds die annually in France from non-selective hunting techniques such as glue traps and nets at a time when Europe's bird population is in sharp decline. Tecnniques banned Over the summer the court banned a range of traditional techniques for hunting birds, including using nets, cages and glue

Elephant Migration Routes: Clubs, Laws, Geography and Demographics. Tracing the Historic Pathways of Africa’s Giants Elephants are among the most iconic and intelligent mammals on Earth, known for their complex social structures, memory, and migratory behavior. Historically, elephant migration routes have been vital corridors connecting ecosystems, allowing these majestic creatures to access resources such as water, food, and breeding grounds. However, human activity, habitat fragmentation, and climate change have significantly disrupted these ancient pathways. Understanding historic elephant migration routes not only sheds light on their natural behaviors but also highlights the urgent need for conservation efforts to preserve these critical corridors. Nature’s Blueprint: Mapping the Historic Migration Routes Historically, elephants in Africa migrated across vast distances, often spanning hundreds or even thousands of kilometers. These routes were shaped by seasonal changes, rainfa

Our good friend Joe Tenney of Creek Side Deer Recovery in Ohio put this shot chart together with help of several Ohio Trackers a couple years ago. Now please read my words carefully, these pins were from deer that were tracked by a dog. These pins represent the outcome of the track. When you see a green pin that means there was proof of life, a trail cam pic, sighting or jump on track. The moral of the story? If you make a good bad shot in center mass the dog is going to find that deer! Stay low and stay off the shoulder! Most of these pins are archery tracks! THE WARTHOG IS A DANGEROUS BEAST. After the release of the Disney animated buddy comedy, The Lion King and The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa. Where Timon and Pumbaa, the warthog and the meerkat were responsible for the humorous line, many decided that wild animals can be really cute and funny… In the video, people who have no experience interacting with wild animals are feeding a warthog. At the moment when she tries to stroke him, the warthog cuts through the woman's skin and muscles in the area where the femoral artery passes. Judging by the huge amount of blood that flowed out of the wound in a few seconds, it is more than likely that the warthog's tusk could have cut through part of this important vessel responsible for transporting blood from the heart to the leg. Such injuries, without urgent hospitalization, will lead to dizziness, loss of consciousness and even, in critical cases, death of the victim. Warthogs are not as cute as in the Disney cartoons. They are wild and dangero

By Aaron Webber The three muskox bulls were getting anxious and it appeared that they were about to run again. I had chased this particular bull several times from a larger herd, but after several failed attempts to get a clear shot, it had finally broken off from the herd with two other, smaller bulls. I jumped off my snowmachine and got ready with my 7 mm Mag. The largest bull had moved away from the other two and presented a broadside shot. I instinctively stood, aimed, and fired at the bull. The bull took off running. I reloaded and followed up with a second shot which knocked the bull to the ground. I had finally bagged my bull! I started shaking severely. Whether it was delayed buck fever, or the fact that it was freezing cold, or perhaps a combination of both, I don’t know. I calmed myself enough to climb back on my snowmachine and drove over to the downed bull. The rest of the group arrived just before I did. My dad met me at my machine and gave me a big hug. The others whoo
