The rise of the German Empire under Prussian leadership was in full swing during the mid 1800’s. For the first time, the army, which up to this time had been made up chiefly of the Prussian aristocracy and peasantry, was opened up to the middle class. This, combined with sweeping economic and political changes occurring throughout Europe, led to a rise in the status of the middle class within the Empire. With this rise came increased privileges regarding land ownership and hunting. In previous centuries, it was usually only the kings, prices and nobles who had the right to hunt, and they owned vast tracks of land for this purpose. However, as the wealth of middle-class Prussia grew during the 1800’s, merchants, professionals, and other middle-class citizens were able to purchase or lease land for themselves on which, of course, they could hunt. Fulfilling a Need In Germany dense forests blended with open fields and housed all types of feather and fur, including grouse, rabbit, fox, dee

Over 300 miles of fencing removed to benefit Nevada antelope For the past decade, volunteers have worked to remove one of the major impediments facing antelope along the western landscape: barbed-wire fencing. And, in the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge, over 300 miles of fence has been removed, resulting in about 1,000 square miles of fence-free habitat for the roughly 2,000 antelope in northern Nevada, according to the Nevada Independent. The refuge was established in 1931 with the purchase of over 34,000 acres of the Last Chance Ranch by the Audubon Society and Boone & Crockett Club. Five years later, another 540,000 adjacent acres were combined with the initial 34,000, creating the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge, which provides key habitat for antelope. Antelope are considered important indicators of ecosystem health due to their “migratory habits and far-reaching range,” according to the Nevada Independent. Prior to the 1800s, there were an estimated 40 million throughout Nor

Vlastnosti slovenského poľovníctva Táto krajina je domovom mnohých európskych predátorov. Nachádza sa tu viac ako 1800 poľovných revírov. Stráži ich polícia, zamestnanci lesnej samosprávy a poľovnícka stráž. What

A beaver may seem like a harmful animal, but in fact his diligence and desire to transform landscapes for himself are so strong that they are more than successful. What kind of landscape does a beaver need? Swampy. With bushes that have delicious bark, with a deep enough reservoir in which you can stash branches for the winter until spring. How is this beneficial to nature? For example, during one year, a hectare of wetlands absorbs 7-15 times more carbon dioxide from the air than a hectare of forest: 550-1800 kg; and emits 7-15 times more oxygen: 260-700 kg. Numerous mollusks and aquatic insects settle in the spill created by beavers, which in turn attract muskrats and waterfowl. The fish, once in favorable conditions (and the beaver deepens the reservoir and creates a network of channels), begins to multiply faster. The Immortal: .30/06 Springfield The .30/06 is the Captain America of big-game cartridges. It’s been around forever, packs a punch, and helped us defeat the Nazis in World War II. Without question, it is the number-one big-game round of the 20th Century. And it’s still going strong. Like many other hunters, my first real deer rifle was chambered in the ought-six. Shooting 165-grain ballistic tips I put hundreds of pounds of corn-fed Michigan venison in the freezer over the years. I’ve also hunted with it across North America and in Africa, using 150-grain soft points, 180-grain Triple Shocks, 200-grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claws, 180-grain Accubonds, and a bunch of other bullets I can’t think of at the moment. It strikes a good balance between power and shootability. The recoil generated by the ought-six is at t

The image is bright, crisp, and has minimal distortion, making it a pleasure to use, especially during those early morning hunts. Build Quality: The scope feels robust and well-made, typical of German engineering. It has a solid construction that is waterproof, fog-proof, and shock-resistant. This gives me the confidence to take it into various weather conditions without worrying about
