Съемку провела команда Национального управления океанических и атмосферных исследований. Длиннорукий кальмар из рода Magnapinna относится к самым неуловимым обитателям океана. Первые образцы этих животных были обнаружены на Азорских островах в 1907 году, а первые живые особи – в 1980-х годах в Атлантике и Тихом океане. В 1998 году магнапинны были выделены в отдельный род и семейство, но за всю историю наблюдений моллюск попадался на глаза лишь 20 раз. В прошлом году длинноруких кальмаров впервые увидели у берегов Австралии, а недавно морским биологам удалось снять это животное в акватории Западной Флориды. Магнапинн плыл на глубине около 2380 метров. Все эти наблюдения подтверждают гипотезу о повсеместном распространении этих кальмаров, а также позволяют больше узнать об их анатомии. С учетом того, что они обитают на уровне батипелагиали на глубине от 1000 до 4000 метров – каждая такая встреча очень ценна.

Zámek Hluboká nad Vltavou Hluboká je dnes významnou loveckou památkou. Zámek však nikdy loveckým hradem ani zámkem nebyl. Již v dobách 1. světové války a druhé polovině 19. století sloužil jako základna pro pořádání tzv. hlubocké honební sezóny, která zde byla pořádána každoročně pro vybranou společnost Schwarzenbergů. Samotné hony trvaly 14 dnů a po roce 1907 pouze 6 dnů. Lovila se okolní zvěř drobná. Ve Staré oboře se pořádaly naháňky na zvěř černou, daňky a muflony. Do roku 1913 se zde pořádaly také parforsní hony. Samotný výřad ulovené zvěře spárkaté se konal na nádvoří hlubockého zámku. Historie: Zámek Hluboká byl původně založen jako strážný hrad v polovině 13. století českými králi a jako královsky majetek byl dáván často do zástavy. V držení se zde vystřídalo několik šlechtických rodů. Mezi významné patřili např. Pernštejnové, kteří založili v roce 1940 nedaleký rybník Bezdrev, rozlohou druhý největší v Čechách. Wisconsin wildlife officials won't seek charges against bow hunter who killed cougar MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin wildlife officials say they won’t seek charges against a bow hunter who killed a cougar. The Department of Natural Resources said in a news release Wednesday that the bow hunter shot the animal in Buffalo County and self-reported the incident to the agency’s violation hotline on Nov. 11. The department said an investigation showed the bow hunter was hunting deer when the hunter encountered the cougar and shot it in self-defense. The department news release does not identify the hunter or the hunter’s gender. Cougar sightings in Wisconsin are rare but have been increasing over the last 20 years. Cougars are native to Wisconsin but were extirpated from the state in the early 1900s. Pneumonia found in bighorn sheep in Montana Nine bighorn sheep that were recently introduced into the Little Belt Mountains of Montana have died from pneumonia. Several other sheep within the same herd group have also been demonstrating symptoms of respiratory disease. Bighorn sheep were common in the Little Belt Mountain Range before they were largely extirpated from the mountain range by the early 1900s. Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks and several partner organizations worked to translocate wild sheep to this area in 2020 and 2021 by capturing 83 bighorn sheep in the upper Missouri River Breaks and releasing them into the eastern Little Belts. All of the translocated sheep were fitted with GPS collars before release. Pneumonia in bighorn sheep is often extremely fatal and can severely affect lamb survival in problematic areas.
