Beretta BRX1 Rifle in .30-06 Review As an avid hunter, I recently had the opportunity to take the Beretta BRX1 rifle in .30-06 out for a deer hunt, and I wanted to share my experiences with fellow enthusiasts. After using this rifle on a challenging hunt, I have compiled a list of pros and cons based on my performance with the weapon. Pros: Versatility for All Shooters: One of the standout features of the BRX1 is its straight-pull bolt action, which accommodates both right-handed and left-handed shooters. This thoughtful design really impressed me, as it allowed for quick follow-up shots, especially when a deer appears unexpectedly. I felt comfortable using the rifle regardless of my shooting stance. Accuracy: The .30-06 caliber is renowned for its effectiveness in deer hunting, and the Beretta BRX1 lived up to those expectations. The rifle’s cold hammer-forged barrel ensured excellent consistency and precision in shot placement. During my hunt, I was able to make clean shots at di

How We Tested the Best Spotting Scopes We invite manufacturers to submit any new spotting scopes introduced from mid-2022 through 2023. Because this particular category of sports optics is expensive to manufacture, and because the market isn’t nearly as dynamic as rifle scopes or binoculars—after all, once you’ve purchased a spotting scope, you’re unlikely to be in the market for another—we test spotters only every two or three years. Low-Light Performance We also measure the low-light performance of each submission by mounting them to tripods and focusing them at 200 yards at a black-and-white resolution target at twilight, all in order to measure the brightness of the glass. The scope that can “see” the longest into the gathering darkness gets top marks. The scope that loses its night-vision earliest gets the lowest score. Scopes in the middle receive scores somewhere between those two poles. How We Score and Grade Optics We break our 10-point scoring into four general categories

Benelli Comfort 12/76 with 710mm Barrel Review I recently had the chance to experience the Benelli Comfort 12/76 shotgun with a 710mm barrel, and I wanted to share my thoughts on its performance, ergonomics, and overall usability. The materials used feel durable and well-constructed, providing a sense of reliability that is essential for any serious shooter. The shotgun features Benelli's renowned inertia-driven system, which contributes to smooth cycling and minimal recoil – a significant advantage for both novice and seasoned shooters alike. In terms of handling, the 710mm barrel strikes a great balance between maneuverability and accuracy. The shorter barrel makes it easier to navigate tight spaces, making it an excellent choice for bird hunting or sporting clays. I found that my follow-up shots were quicker because I could easily pivot and reposition the gun without feeling cumbersome. The comfort aspe

Tiger hunting is the capture and killing of tigers. Humans are the tigers' most significant predator, and illegal poaching is a major threat to the tigers. The Bengal tiger is the most common subspecies of tiger, constituting approximately 80% of the entire tiger population in Indian Sub-Continent, and is endemic to Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, and India. Tigers have mythological, cultural and religious significance in these countries. Foreign invaders saw hunting of Tigers as a symbol of masculinity and an adventurous sporting event. It has been hunted in these countries for centuries. In 1924, the Tiger population in Asia was estimated to be more than 100,000. However, within less than a hundred years, it had declined to fewer than 3,200. Tiger has historically been a popular big game animal and has been hunted for prestige as well as for taking trophies. Extensive poaching has continued even after such hunting became illegal and legal protection was provided to the tiger. Now

Boat Accessories for the Salt Water Boat-show season was a huge success this year for both the boating industry and its consumers looking for some new boat accessories, like me. It goes without saying that the prior-year pandemic regulations created hardship for places of gathering, whether it was church, classrooms, theaters, restaurants, and yes, trade shows. With these imposed restrictions, outdoor enthusiasts took it in the teeth when it came to Sportsman and Boat Shows. But 2022 showed signs of improvement, breathing air into the oxygen-starved industry. Throughout the Pacific Northwest, what last year was a virtual echo chamber this year was an elbow-to-elbow, bustling free-for-all. Eager outdoor enthusiasts were hungry, and these trade shows helped many turn their dreams to realities, while others better prepared for yet another season of reveries. If you’re the person that makes that annual journey to your favorite sporting or boat show, you will quickly put together the list

Hardware: Browning A5 Wicked Wing Sweet Sixteen A legendary early 20th century shotgun, the 16-gauge dropped off the map in 1989 when skeet shooting rules were finalized by the newly formed National Sporting Clays Association, and the gauge didn’t make the cut. As much as field shooters favored the shotgun’s lightweight, functional, easy-on-the-shoulder nature, skeet shooters press the trigger more than upland and waterfowl hunters combined, and ammo manufacturers couldn’t justify the cost of production. Browning A5 Wicked Wing Sweet Sixteen Semi Automatic Shotgun. Today, however, this near-perfect gauge is making a remarkable comeback. Why? Efficiency. Not only do 16-gauge loads hit with a wallop, especially with modern-day tungsten and bismuth, the guns are simply a joy to tote. Weighing less than most 12-gauge options and comparable to 20-gauge models, a quality 16-gauge makes a tremendous all-day field gun for any shooter. I’m a Browning fan, and my 12-gauge A5 has been my wa

But now is exactly when you need to be putting in the work for the upcoming season. UPGRADE YOUR GEAR Think back to last season. Did a fogged scope cost you a big buck? Did your treestand squeak when you tried to get into position for a shot? Did you leave a hunt early or skip going out altogether because of inclement weather? Now is the time to remedy all those problems. Available stock on sporting goods always seems to be in short supply just before season. Don’t wait until the gear you need is sold out before you start shopping. Purchasing early also allows you to get familiar with your new equipment, particularly firearms and optics. Not having to

Hunting Squirrels: Which .22 is for You? Lever-action, single-shot, bolt-action, semi-automatic and pump. When we picture a .22-caliber rifle in our mind, one of these traditional guns is sure to appear. However, a new style is emerging as a great sporting tool. Lately, .22-caliber rifles are being built on tactical rifle frames. These guns may look a lot different, but when it comes to putting a round in a squirrel’s ear they all work the same. Picking Your Puppy: Traits to Look for in Your Next Hunting Dog Are You Looking for a Hunting Dog Puppy? You wouldn’t walk into a sporting goods store and purchase the first shotgun you saw without doing some background research first, so why then would you skip that step when selecting a puppy that you’ll be hunting with for the next 10 to 12 years? 10 Classic Hunting Rifles Every Hunter Should Own (Part 3) 8. Remington Model 760 Gamemaster The 760 is a box magazine-fed pump-action with similar looks to Remington’s 870 and 1100 shotgun lines. It began production somewhere around 1952, and naturally became a very popular deer woods rifle. It’s box magazine fed and features a hinged trap-door floorplate that’s opened to insert the magazine. The BAR has been highly successful, and different models are still in production today—i
