Most health incidents involving the chemical are minor, according to the EPA, such as skin, eye or respiratory irritation like rashes, watery eyes or wheezing. But still, there's widespread concern that DEET might be potentially toxic or cause cancer.Post: 29 August 22:49

A Facebook Friend just asked what I’ve done with all the animals. The collection is now in the Indeoendence Gun Club(IGC) Sporting Heritage Center in downtown Independence, Kansas, open to the public for the first time at the 2022 Neewollah (Halloween spelled backwards) Festival. Much better place than my barn, around 300 mounts from six continents.Post: 24 March 18:05

Bear Gun Shootout: The Drill To get a better handle on this debate I enlisted the help of two fellow pistoleros: Sean Murphy, a USPSA Grand Master, and Outdoor Life staff writer Tyler Freel, who by virtue of living in Alaska hunts bears every year. We conducted a live-fire experiment at Gunsite Academy in the form of a simple, but challenging drill. The three of us shot an array of five knockdown steel poppers from far to near to simulate a bear charge. The farthest target was in the center and then we zig-zagged from far left to far right and then to near left and near right to add in erratic motion and increase the stress level. The farthest target was approximately 20 yards away and the closest were about 12 yards downrange. Watch the video above to see the drill for yourself.Post: 16 December 17:07

In western North Dakota, Little Missouri State Park has over 45 miles of trails running through the badlands. The trails are perfect for hiking and horseback riding, especially the state park loop. This five-mile loop trail is moderately difficult, and features some of the area’s most beautiful wildflowers. The trail really takes you into the heart of the rugged badlands, requiring some technical ability and even bushwhacking in the overgrowth. The I trail, starting at the campground, is also perfect for hikers. It curls around rock formations and along ridges, offering some of the best views of the badlands in the entire area.Post: 12 October 10:19
The Putorana Plateau (Russian: Плато Путорана) or the Putorana Mountains is a mountainous area in the Russian Federation. It is a large massif or plateau crossed by mountain ranges. The nearest large settlement is Norilsk, where foreign travel is restricted. The city is served by Alykel Airport. The area of the mountains contains some of the largest known nickel deposits in the world. The Putorana region is located above the Arctic Circle. The climate is harsh, sharply continental, with long, cold winters. However, in certain lake valleys, such as Lake Lama, there is a somewhat milder microclimate owing to the protection afforded by neighboring ranges from the northern winds.Post: 1 August 10:38
