Hunting in ALBERTA BADLANDS: Seasons, Restrictions and Essential Rules The Alberta Badlands, with its striking canyons and rolling prairies, is a prime destination for hunters seeking whitetail deer, elk, pronghorn, and upland birds. However, navigating the region’s hunting seasons, regulations, and optimal hunting periods requires careful planning. Unlike other parts of Canada, the Badlands’ unique climate and terrain influence when and how you can hunt, making it essential to understand the rules before heading out. Understanding Hunting Seasons in the Badlands Alberta’s hunting seasons are carefully managed by Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP), with dates adjusted annually based on wildlife populations, breeding cycles, and environmental conditions. The Badlands’ semi-arid climate means seasons can differ from those in Alberta’s boreal forests or mountainous regions. For example, mule deer seasons often open earlier here than in the north because the rut occurs sooner in the

Due to the lack of electronic control and easy-to-fix nature, the Land Rover has performed well in environments where workshop backup would be unavailable. Repairs can also be carried out with limited resources and limited parts. The Land Rover Wolf was introduced to the Army in 1998 and is still in use today. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/EN2TEpeRhawYaRpv/?mibextid=K35XfP This is splendid news for all Land Rover Defender and Series owners, and for several compelling reasons: 1. The fact that the British Ministry of Defence has chosen to retain these vehicles not only bestows them with prestige but also ensures the continuity of supply chains for parts. And as allo you know, a lot of parts are comoatible with Series too. 2. From an environmental perspective, this is also excellent news. Many of us contend that extending the lifespan of a machine optimises resources and ultimately conserves them. We do not subscribe to the notion that scrapping perfectly functional vehicles to

Last weekend, Parks Canada held a ceremony in the park to help celebrate the re-establishment of an ancient treaty between the Simpcw and Stoney First Nations under which the two nations agreed to share the resources of what has become Jasper. Hunters couldn't ask for better conditions when Wisconsin's annual nine-day gun deer season opens Saturday. Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials believe that three wolves shot and killed just over the state’s border in Wyoming may have belonged to Colorado’s closely watched North Park wolf pack. Associated Press DENVER (AP) — Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials believe that three wolves shot and killed just over the state's border in Wyoming may have belonged to Colorado's closely watched North Park wolf pack. The North Park pack, which often crosses into Wyoming where hunting wolves is legal, gained notoriety last year after birthing Colorado’s first known litter of pups in 80 years. Travis Duncan, spokesperson for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, said in an email that the agency cannot yet confirm whether the slain wolves were in the North Park pack but will continue to monitor the animals "if and when they are next seen in the area.” Duncan added that at least two wolves were s

Hunting Seasons in BANFF NATIONAL PARK: Season Dates, Permit Requirements and Essential Regulations Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park offers unique hunting opportunities governed by strict conservation rules. Understanding these regulations is essential for hunters planning to explore this wilderness. General Rules and Hunting Periods in Banff National Park The primary hunting season in Banff runs from September 1st to November 30th, though dates vary by species. Parks Canada, in collaboration with Alberta Environment and Parks, regulates these periods carefully. The park's elevation (1,350m to 3,600m) creates microclimates affecting animal behavior. For example, elk movements depend on snow accumulation at higher elevations starting in late October. Compared to neighboring regions like British Columbia or Montana, Banff has stricter limitations due to its national park status. Significant changes occurred after the 2014 conservation assessment, which led to red

Saharan Safari: Unveiling the Secrets of Wildlife Protection and Hunting in Africa’s Desert Realm Nature’s Blueprint: Geographical Insights for Hunters The Saharan Wildlife Protection region, spanning parts of North Africa, is a vast and diverse expanse where desert meets unique ecosystems. This area includes parts of countries like Algeria, Chad, Mali, and Niger, with its core focus on conserving wildlife amidst harsh conditions. The Sahara Desert dominates the landscape, but oases, wadis (dry riverbeds), and semi-arid zones provide critical habitats for game species. For hunters, understanding the geography is essential: daytime temperatures can soar above 50°C (122°F), while nighttime brings freezing cold. Navigation skills are paramount, as GPS signals may fail in remote areas. Who Hunts Here? A Demographic Deep Dive While exact numbers of hunters in the Saharan Wildlife Protection region are difficult to pinpoint due to sparse populations and limited access, it’s estimated tha

Scottish Deerhound Hunting Dog: Traits, Training, and Global Use in the Field The Scottish Deerhound is a legendary hunting breed revered for its grace, endurance, and noble demeanor. Originally bred in the rugged Highlands of Scotland, this sighthound was designed to pursue and bring down large game—most notably the red deer. Today, while its role has evolved, the Deerhound remains a capable and respected hunting companion in various parts of the world. 🦌 What Game Can the Scottish Deerhound Hunt? Historically, the Scottish Deerhound was bred to course red deer, a task requiring immense speed, stamina, and precision. Its long legs and deep chest allow for powerful strides and sustained chases over uneven terrain. While modern hunting practices have shifted, Deerhounds still retain their instinctual drive and physical capability to pursue: • Red deer and fallow deer (traditional quarry in Scotland and parts of Europe) • Coyotes and wolves (used in North America historically) • Wil

Huge Zimbabwe Elephant Killed Legally, Says Wildlife Authority Harare: The hunt that killed one of the biggest elephants seen for years in Zimbabwe was legal, the wildlife authority said today. The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority (ZimParks) said the elephant which was killed last week in the southeastern part of the country had tusks weighing 54 and 55 kilogrammes respectively adding that proceeds from the hunt would go towards wildlife conservation. "On the 7th of October 2015, an adult male elephant was hunted as a trophy by a foreign client through a locally registered safari company in Malipati Safari area," the ZimParks statement said. It said the area was "allocated sustainable quotas and hunting permits for all wildlife species including elephants on annual basis." Malipati is adjacent to Gonarezhou national park and the two game parks hold 11,452 elephants, ZimParks said, dismissing reports that the elephant hunt took place inside the national park. Texas The second largest U.S. state, Texas covers an astounding 171,891,725 acres (Source: Beef 2 Live). Often thought of by outsiders as one giant desert, the Lone Star State is actually very eco-diverse. In fact, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department recognizes 10 different eco-regions within the state. I recently discussed Texas’s deer herd and hunting opportunities with Alan Cain, White-tailed Deer Program Leader with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Not all states project whitetail-population estimates, but Texas does. “We have an estimated 5.4 million white-tailed deer,” Cain said. “This number is based on regulatory deer surveys that our biologists annually conduct throughout the state. Central Texas has the state’s highest deer densities. This area is known as the Edwards Plateau eco-region, also commonly referred to as the Hill Country. Specifically, Deer Management Unit (DMU) 6 around Llano and Mason Counties has the highest density at an estimated 265 deer per 1,00

Colorado Parks and Wildlife seeks elk poacher It’s definitely offseason for elk hunting, but someone didn’t get the message. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is looking for any leads in a recent poaching incident that occurred in Park County, Colorado around June 26. A large bull elk carcass was left to waste with the majority of the meat still there, according to Channel 9 News. CPW believes the elk was illegally shot between June 24 and 26 in the area between Como and Hartsel, west of Colorado Springs. The carcass was dumped along Pike National Forest Road 146. A high-power rifle was used and only the backstraps and one antler was removed. The rest of the carcass was left to rot. CPW is hopeful that campers or residents in the Tarryall area or the Indian Mountain Buffalo subdivisions may have seen something related to the crime. “This was a senseless and disgraceful act which demonstrates a complete disregard for Colorado’s wildlife,” said Ian Petkash, CPW District Wildlife Mana

France revises hunting rules but stops short of Sunday ban France's government on Monday announced tighter rules against hunting under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and protection for walkers and local residents, but stopped short of a hoped-for Sunday ban. Although a weekend "no hunting day" is popular with the public, President Emmanuel Macron is wary of alienating rural voters and adding to anti-government resentment as he launches a major pension reform. Instead, junior environment minister Berangere Couillard said hunting under the influence would be banned, training and safety rules for hunters strengthened and digital systems developed to warn other countryside users away from active hunting zones. Punishments will also be upgraded, including hunters losing their licences if they are involved in a serious accident. "My goal is to aim for zero accidents," Couillard said on a Monday trip to the Loiret department south of Paris. "We want to see better safety, seven days

RED DEER The majestic Red Deer is the king of the French forests. An emblematical animal in Europe and mythical through Saint Hubertus’s legend, the hunters’ Patron Saint : the legend says that On Good Friday morning, when the faithful were crowding the churches, Hubert went anyway after deer. As he was chasing a magnificent white stag the animal turned and, as the pious legend narrates, he was astounded at perceiving a crucifix standing between its antlers and he heard God’s voice talking to him. Commonly present on most territories we hunt, be they in forest areas near Paris or in the south of France. Also impressive with a strong and graceful appearance, big male adults weigh up to 250 kilos (550 lbs). The red deer hunt begins early September to the end of February.
