More than 63 million sockeye had returned to the bay’s different watersheds and fish were still running. Question for my hiking photographers. What do you all use when hiking with your camera? My lens is fairly heavy, just a neck strap is not going to be enough for me. I’m planning on doing some fairly long hikes. I’ve been looking into clips, harnesses, and belts but can’t decide what’s best. Obviously I want quick access to my camera while also being secure while hiking! Any and all suggestions welcome. Also should I hike with my monopod or leave it? One of our followers, Brock Maksymiw, from Saskatchewan, just sent us these photos with his story. He first got this buck on camera back on 11/22 and thought his camera had a glitch. It wasn't until 11/24 when it was confirmed this buck actually had another bucks head attached to it! Brock quickly grabbed his gear and headed out to the property where the pictures were taken. Sure enough after a short while, he saw it and fired, but missed! As Brock wrote, his nerves got the best of him. However, Brock came back a few hours later and saw the same buck in a different spot, and got him.

Can you believe Christmas is just a week away? We all get stuck in a rut sometimes. Last night listening to our insanely talented friend Traci Sepkovic/@tlsepkovic, a guest on the @wildlifeconversationspodcast, she talked about just that. Sometimes we feel unlimited creativity and other times we just hit a wall and no matter how bad we want to be out with camera sometimes it's good just to set it down for a while, recenter and get back at it. Todays frames are some that lend to being way more creative than just always using the "good light". Yes we all love a perfectly subject from the the front or coming at us straight into the lens but the older I get and the more I shoot I would rather shoot into the light looking for the truly special moments. MTFWP removes mountain lions from Wild Horse Island State Park Three adult mountain lions were recently removed from Wild Horse Island State Park in Montana. The decision came after the state and tribal officials deemed the animals a “public safety issue due to the high density and habituation,” according to KRTV News. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (MTFWP) worked in collaboration with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) after receiving reports from both landowners and visitors. How the Grunt Call Came to Be Realtree pro staffer Brad Harris was grunting up whitetails long before deer calling was cool Brad Harris was high in a tree in Mingo Swamp in southeast Missouri when a 6-point buck walked by at about 80 yards. Harris doesn’t remember the exact year, but it was in the ’70s.
