Tips for Camouflage in Hunting: Choosing the Right Camouflage, Blending In, and Minimizing Noise Effective #camouflage is key to a successful #hunt, as blending into the environment lets hunters approach their target undetected. Here are some tips on choosing the right #camouflage_gear, staying hidden in the forest or open areas, and minimizing noise. Camouflage: How to Choose the Right One The choice of camouflage depends on the terrain, season, and time of day. In the forest, green and brown tones help blend in with trees and foliage, while in winter conditions, a white-grey camouflage works best on snowy terrain. For hunting in open plains, beige and brown colors are better, blending in with grass and dry landscapes. Seasonal #hunting_camouflage also varies: summer clothing is lightweight and breathable, while winter gear is warm and can come with snow covers. Blending in on Different Terrains Beyond camouflage, choose #hunting_gear that doesn’t stand out in the environment. Hats

Tips for Nighttime Predator Hunters Ditch the daylight for consistent coyote hunting action Hunting at night can be one of the most effective ways to take coyotes. Like most predators, they tend to be more active after dark, so chances are good that they’ll be up and searching for food while you’re calling to them. Hiding under the cover of darkness makes it much easier to trick a predator’s keen eyesight, too. So what’s stopping you from predator hunting at night? In a lot of places, it’s illegal. But the good news is, more and more states are passing new and expanding existing night hunting regulations. Kentucky opened night hunting a couple years ago, and a bill currently working through the Pennsylvania House would allow hunting with night vision and thermal scopes for part of the year. Since regulations are changing fast, it’s important to do some research so that you know your state’s exact law before you go. Play It Safe Coyotes and other predators tend to see a lot better than

Tips for Hunting Fox Squirrels Tactics for hunting our largest tree squirrel aren’t the same as for more common gray squirrels “Let’s go chase after a fox squirrel.” Those were the last words I remember my friend Hunter saying to me before we wandered down the logging road that cut through the top of Brush Mountain. I was cramming my brain with communication law court cases for an exam. He knew exactly how to escape the books. In a sudden dart down the mountainside, Hunter vanished into the fall foliage. I scuffled through the leaves behind him the best I could in rubber boots to find him encouraging me to hurry. He handed me the .22 Magnum. “It’s a fox squirrel,” Hunter whispered. The squirrel was frozen high up in an oak tree. I aimed the gun to the sky. It took me too long to steady my shooting position, and I was certain the squirrel was going to move. But he remained still as a statue, and at the shot, the squirrel fell through the autumn air. Its fur was auburn and delicate, and

Big-game seasons are over in most places, and turkey seasons haven’t started yet. That means most of us are looking for a reason to get outside, and what better reason than a chance to get your hands on some antlers? But even if you’re not a big-game hunter, you should give shed hunting a try. Why? Field Butchering Tips and Tactics Blog by Marcus Weiner Photos by Brian Woobank Butchering big game is a skill earned from experience and can be daunting to the new hunter. But it doesn’t need to be. Ungulates are constructed the same way, so learning how to break down a deer will give you the introductory skills needed to tackle larger animals like caribou, elk and moose. Here are some field butchering tips and tactics. There are two school of thought on butchering big game in the field – the gutless method or the gutting method. I prefer the gutless method of field butchering big game. With that fact in mind, the only reason to gut the animal is if you don’t have the ability to break it down immediately. My goal with every animal is
